The Italian Captain is a bully!

The Italian Football Captain is a horrible bully.

He should have got a red card for the way he treated Saka pulling his shirt collar and dragging him to the floor.

Also when Italy were against Spain the way he grabbed the Spanish captain persuading him to do penalties on the Italian side.

I can’t stand him. He deserves no praise and his team played dirty!

They were just asking, no need to be arsey.
Not meaning to be arsey but there's been loads of posts from people who don't actually watch football suggesting all these changes be made to the game and the rules when there's no need for them.

Ratalie · 13/07/2021 17:33

That petition is embarrassing.

Some very sore losers.

iklboo · 13/07/2021 17:42

@Honeybeebloom - where did I say it needed to be changed or that I was suggesting changes? I was asking what football fans think might happen to the game if a similar rule for a yellow card was brought in.

@TheLeadbetterLife said it would slow it down, that's their thought. The game goes on in rugby without the sin binned player, the opposing team have 10 minutes advantage of being a man extra. I was wondering would it affect football in a similar way to be a man / men down.

Frownette · 13/07/2021 17:43

@DamsonJammyBastard nothing babyish about it, it's a no contact sport. You indulge thuggery all you want, it makes you look bad and weak.

I don't dispute the outcome and won't be signing petitions. The point of the game is not to throw players around.

I wonder who put a petition up for a England Denmark rematch? No one from England I doubt! But why bother?
adawong · 13/07/2021 17:49

No it fucking isn't how many times do you need telling.

Football is most definitely a contact sport.

By insisting otherwise you invalidate your argument

melj1213 · 13/07/2021 17:59

it's a no contact sport.

@Frownette you keep asserting that football is a non-contact sport. Why do you belive this to be the case?

Football is very much a contact sport and always has been by every definition of the game

minionsrule · 13/07/2021 18:00

Oh dear Confused
You want to see what goes on week in week out in League games.
Fernandinho at Man City is the master of the dark arts (or a good old fashioned foul/tactical foul).
Think we call it taking one for the team Grin, he would be permanently banned if people had their way.... its not intended to injure, just break up play

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 18:02

Frownette, it's absolutely not a no-contact support, that would be tennis or golf, where are you getting the idea from? How would it be possible?

I would have loved to see the likes of Roy Keane be told football is a non-contact sport GrinGrin

Not to mention 'Dirty' Jackie Charlton. 😄

araiwa · 13/07/2021 18:09

I would have done exactly the same as chiellini in that situation. It's a foul, yellow card- that's it. Totally worth it- they would've been in trouble if he hadnt

Ratalie · 13/07/2021 18:12

It was probably one of the least controversial games I've seen.

Imagine the reaction if something like Suarez v Ghana had happened Grin

Bless your sweet simple mind.

Mamma Mia!

Ratalie · 13/07/2021 18:25

Re. Football as a non-contact sport.

Here's an analysis of the skill of players weaponizing their bums

You don't get that in tennis.

SallySycamore · 13/07/2021 18:30

I understand tactical fouls, and knew it would probably only be a yellow (he wouldn't have done it otherwise), but I winced and did think that it was a bit dangerous. Getting him by his collar like that, and making him fall that hard backwards — put out an arm to save yourself on that type of fall and you could break a wrist.

It wasn't exactly subscribing to "play the ball, not the man"!

BluebellsareBlue · 13/07/2021 18:33

@pinkcircustop

YANBU. They only won because they cheated 🤷‍♀️
Jeezo. Time to move on methinks. If you want to go down that route we can talk about the dive against Denmark that got England a penalty.... and many more I could mention
SallySycamore · 13/07/2021 18:34

In fairness, women's lacrosse (not so sure about mixed or men's) is non-contact, because you aren't allowed to body check.

In football if you were only allowed to go for the ball, and not touch the other player it could be classed the same.

BluebellsareBlue · 13/07/2021 18:36

@Honeybeebloom

Yep, I agree - for every 3 yellow cards the opposing team should be awarded a goal, might focus the minds a little!

😂🤣🤣
There seem to be a lot of people on here who have never watched a game of football before Sunday night and have no idea what constitutes cheating or are coming up with ridiculous ideas for how the game should be changed.

Absolutely agree honey!! In my 33 years as a season ticket holder (also was a grade 5 referee), I've never heard so much nonsense! "They cheated!!" Oh the outrage, now can we talk about the England teams diving and being awarded penalties??? Wink
melj1213 · 13/07/2021 18:39

In football if you were only allowed to go for the ball, and not touch the other player it could be classed the same.

But the point is that this is not the case and therefore football is not a non-contact sport ...

OhRosalind · 13/07/2021 18:46

Well yes but then it would be a totally different game. There’s lots of contact that doesn’t constitute fouling.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 18:48

Exactly melj. I wasn't saying golf and tennis were the only ones, just giving examples so frownette could get the difference.

FlaminEckVera · 13/07/2021 18:53

@ICECream821 100% agree. If one of OUR players had behaved like that, he'd have been red-carded, and Italy would have been given a penalty.

The Italy team are awful aggressive bullies - and cheats. They should have been disqualified after that behaviour.

'Cheats never prosper' is bullshit. Cheats WIN. Italy did. So did Argentina with their 'hand of God' shot.

But the apologists will come along and say, 'oooh but it's how they're TAUGHT to play.'

Utter UTTER bullshit.

ENGLAND WOZ ROBBED! Hmm
