The Italian Captain is a bully!

The Italian Football Captain is a horrible bully.

He should have got a red card for the way he treated Saka pulling his shirt collar and dragging him to the floor.

Also when Italy were against Spain the way he grabbed the Spanish captain persuading him to do penalties on the Italian side.

I can’t stand him. He deserves no praise and his team played dirty!

Absolutely not a red card. All this nonsense of a 36 year old man vs a 19 year old. It's a mans sport!

Imagine if Spain was in the final and Sergio Ramos played, people would have had petitions for criminal charges.

SallySycamore · 13/07/2021 23:10

I think it's different when it's shock and they've been pulled off balance so fast though. But anyway, he wasn't hurt, and a yellow card and free kick were given.

I still think as cynical tactical fouls go it was a particularly cynical one though! And I stand by my point that I'd be most unimpressed if I saw it replicated at a junior or Sunday league game.

MrsBungle · 13/07/2021 23:12

Grin at football being a non-contact sport. I’m trying to imagine a game where none of the players touch each other! Football is very much a contact sport - a very physical one at that.

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 13/07/2021 23:13

I admit I shouted for a red card at the time due to the way Saka fell. If he'd grabbed him by the neck and pulled him over then I think it would have been. But grabbing at his shirt wouldn't justify a sending off.

Just wish he'd missed altogether, Saka had skipped down the wing and crossed it for Sterling and the rest would have been a different history.

Oh get over it , we got kicked out weeks ago and haven't whinged 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

ElliottSmithsfingers · 13/07/2021 23:15

I'd be extremely impressed if footballing skills comparable to those of the captain of the European champions were displayed in a random junior or Sunday league game! Dream on!

Bet we'd never have heard the end of it if you'd got to the final... Wink

Ha yeah Sergio Ramos and Giorgio Chiellini are cut from the same cloth! Love to hate them both but they are immense footballers.
SallySycamore · 13/07/2021 23:20

Yes, because grabbing somebody by the collar and pulling requires such high levels of "footballing skills" doesn't it?

These people are role models — "play the ball, not the man" and good sportsmanship are something grass roots coaches and managers work hard to instil in their players. It would be nice if the pros didn't just trample all over that with cynical tactical fouls, in my opinion. That goes for diving too.

Jules

We know there isn't a hope in hell 🤣

@Cushionsnotpillows

Glad to see Frownette seems to have finally stopped posting, I almost lost a kidney from cringing myself inside out at the ever increasingly hysterical posts showing no clue about professional, international football whatsoever Grin Italian player gets physical - shocker of the century NOT.
I'd have loved to see her opinion of Rino Gattuso's view of playing for Italy in a non contact sport Grin
StormzyinaTCup · 13/07/2021 23:45

Chiellini himself has been meme'd from when he was bitten by Suarez

Was just reading through this thread and thinking I’m sure it was Chiellini that was bitten by Suarez, was about to google but no need now👍🏻

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 23:49

Wow, Suarez is a piece of work. Surely legalities have to come into it somewhere.

DamsonJammyBastard · 13/07/2021 23:58

Suarez's instinct to chomp an opponent is so weird. The violence of it aside, it's such a toddler thing to do. There must have been some interruption to his development than meant he never outgrew his instinct to bite when angry or under stress.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 14/07/2021 00:02

Oh I got major knob vibes off him during the whole coin toss thing with Spain. He just seemed to be playing the whole “I’m crazy me!” act for the cameras.

JohnStonesMissus · 14/07/2021 00:13

I've always had a bad creepy feeling when I look at Chiellini, there's something about him I find sinister, I can't quite put my finger on it but I didn't get that feeling with the other players, only him..

SallySycamore · 14/07/2021 01:18

I've struggled to get over my initial impression that he looks like a rough Louie Spence. Grin

It's probably just the hair.

prawntoastie · 14/07/2021 01:23

What, the only one who's not classically goodllooking? Fancy that?
JohnStonesMissus · 14/07/2021 09:22

I never mentioned looks...you did, he gives off a vibe which I don't like, get over it.

Funny, as Stones happens to give me a funny vibe, just by looking at him on a screen... isn't it great how we can all talk shite??
Cooldryplace · 14/07/2021 09:46

How can someone give off a vibe based on anything other than appearance, when you've never even heard them speak?

JohnStonesMissus · 14/07/2021 09:54

John Terry also gives me that vibe, but my friend thinks he's lush!Confusedwhatever floats your boat I suppose..

I don't know I just do, the way he was with the Spanish Captain was strange which didn't help..
