Thank goodness Polly.co.uk has figured out how to market to women. I hope their policy documents also come in emoji formats because my lady brain really appreciates it.

Also that’s where I’ve been going wrong! Of course buying lipstick instead of life insurance is bad. I see the error of my ways. Thank you Polly, I’ll be better.

Bloody hell that’s bad.

BathroomBuffalo · 05/07/2021 09:26

Urgh that is so bad

NoSquirrels · 05/07/2021 09:26

Is there an equivalent ‘Dads be like’ ad? Or is Polly just for us? #soblessed

JackieWeaversAuthorityHere · 05/07/2021 09:27

Bloody hell that’s bad.
Part of me is wondering whether it’s deliberate to get it shares but then WHY would you choose sexism as your platform? WHY?

Seriously condescending. And, when I am cancer free of a female only cancer (not breast before people jump in saying men can get breast cancer too), they wouldn't insure me....or not without it costing an absolute fortune.

JackieWeaversAuthorityHere · 05/07/2021 09:28

Also post natal depression is hilarious obvs. #babyblues bitches!!

Also did I mention there’s a woman on Twitter who was refused a policy because she suffered post natal psychosis?

Yeah.

This is just exceptional marketing.

I’ve seen stories like this all over the place... it’s just awful. Flowers

Nope, just us mums who are spending the family fortune on clothes and presumably leaving our kids starving for the sake of 3 coffees a week.. #oopsy

I expect I’m too old to understand the young social media strategist’s sexism-based viral marketing. Oh well. Maybe when they’re old like me they’ll understand.

CoffeeAndDryShampoo · 05/07/2021 09:38

I saw this on Facebook yesterday. Talk about a quick way to piss off your entire target market.

I work in marketing and am sick of the main earner men who always suggest mums having a coffee, doing the school run or being a soccer mom when we talk about ensuring comms are relevant to women too.

I either play dumb and ask if that is an accurate representation of women or are they actually more likely to be working and equal in the home or just call it out and say ads have moved on since 1950s.

DrManhattan · 05/07/2021 09:42

Dated and out of touch

BlessedBeTheFruitandNut · 05/07/2021 09:43

Their sexist advertising is exactly why I avoided them when I was looking for a policy. Idiots.

It seems absolutely unbelievable to me that no one who saw this ad brought up that it’s insulting as fuck. Crazy. Do they have no women working for them?!
MindyStClaire · 05/07/2021 09:47

Ugh. You know this was written by men whose partners are on here falling to pieces doing all the night feeds, all the childcare and all the housework because he Has To Work, and then he spends all weekend on his hobby (which is cycling).

Most accurate thing I’ve read today.

I now feel guilty that I'm letting the side down, I've just done the school run and am having a coffee before shopping. Blush
Costumeidea · 05/07/2021 09:53

Just had a look, they appear to have deleted it now. Good thing too, that was outrageous.

aSofaNearYou · 05/07/2021 09:55

I absolutely hate the advertisement from Polly, I'm waiting for all the minor celebs who sign up to do a patronising ad about how cheap it is (when you're rich) to cotton on because they always go down in my estimations when I see it.

Gladiolys · 05/07/2021 09:58

Bloody hell. That is absolutely shocking.

Allergictoironing · 05/07/2021 10:05

Who on earth are the 3% (2 people by my reckoning at this time) who thought you WERE being U???

Hmmm... Is this actually bordering on the illegal?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 05/07/2021 10:16

I need insurance renewal.

I've noted this.

Hope Polly see this thread (I'm sure they will get some marketing bod to search their name)
