(Lighthearted )

Another summer is upon us, and with it come the shorts, the flowing summer dresses, and the skirts. And, of course, the increased sale of shaving supplies.

It's also yet another summer where I'll be setting aside the razor blades and embracing the wild grasslands that are my legs. What started as a political statement when I was a teenager has now grown into an honest appreciation of my leg fluff. I love how soft it feels under my fingers, how it keeps me just that little bit warmer in winter. I love that I'm embracing a part of myself that's natural, a small way that my body tries to stay safe and cosy.

And, yes, part of me does enjoy surprising people when it's brought up in conversation Wink

So does anyone else have any quirks or natural parts of themselves that they've fallen in love with, even when it flies in the face of what's considered attractive?

I don’t shave my legs either. Hair grows on my legs, that’s just the way it is.

Wrotten · 29/06/2021 14:59

I'm super pale. I avoid the sun due to migraines and I never use fake tan.

I love my "pasty" skin.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 29/06/2021 15:00

I admire you! I wish I were brave enough to show hairy legs in public, but it's one part of my conditioning I can't overcome. I think it's because my mum shows such revulsion to women with body hair, and has done since I was a kid.

I like my fat calves.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 29/06/2021 15:01

My post reads like some awful backhanded compliment... can I clarify that I don't think body hair looks bad, but I'm afraid to show mine in case other people like my mum see it.

lifeissweet · 29/06/2021 15:04

I'm the same. My skin is almost blue and I don't give a toss.
WheresTheLambSauce · 29/06/2021 15:05

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl I didn't take it as backhanded, don't worry Smile Sorry to hear about your mum, it's awful that some people can have such an impact on our lives and how we perceive each other. But it sounds like you're more understanding and self-aware of it, which is very admirable too ❤️

My pale skin and my stretch marks. I also don’t feel the need to shave, sometimes I feel like I want to other times I don’t but I do enjoy being hairy sometimes

EishetChayil · 29/06/2021 15:07

The whole bloody shebang. My body is amazing and I refuse to be convinced that it isn't.

troobleflooble · 29/06/2021 15:08

I wouldn't say I 'love' it but I am pale and don't bother tanning myself ever, a natural tan developed over time is rare but fine. Anything fake looks absolutely ridiculous on me and I prefer my skin natural.

I also like my chunky calves. Makes buying longer boots an absolute mission but my legs look great in heels. Curvaceous and strong 😊

Rocket1982 · 29/06/2021 15:11

I like my nose bump

Mylittlesandwich · 29/06/2021 15:12

I don't know if I love it but I don't dislike it and I don't hide it away. It's all of me. I'm (very) overweight. I wear dresses and shorts when it's hot and I don't apologise for it. I will only live one life and I will enjoy it!

3scape · 29/06/2021 15:13

My freckles! so everywhere really. I've seen a grown woman tell her friend she was glad she didn't suffer with freckles after I was wearing a short sleeve shirt. They are epic, there are easily thousands all over my body, all different in size and darkness, my arms looked tanned from a distance. So many people will tell me I must 'regret' not covering up as a child Hmm or how I must be jealous of a tan.

Nope. I love my freckles. I don't care that they are uneven, I don't cover them up with make up etc.

I love my hairy toes! I spend the summer barefoot or in open toed sandals too. I like to think I'm part hobbit. I'm also not one for shaving and love how soft my leg hair is now it's not stubbly. I love getting my shorts on for summer too and feeling the breeze on my legs and I do feel sorry for people who want to but don't dare.

Snuggleworm · 29/06/2021 15:29

I wish I could say I liked something about myself :( But at the moment I don't. I used to be quite attractive until last year when menopause hit.
Actually, my hair is nice, it is thick and blonde.

Arrowheart · 29/06/2021 15:31

I'm a size 14. I love that. I'm never going to be anything else. I also love my pasty skin and my body shape. I love it because it's me. It has taken me 50 years though.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 29/06/2021 15:32

My csection scar 🙂

BiBabbles · 29/06/2021 15:35

I've had so many people tell me how great I'd look with highlights or with different colours, but no I think my charcoal brown hair is great just as it is. It suits me and the rest of my colouring very well. I still to work to just accept the frizz.

Comedycook · 29/06/2021 15:35

I'm a size 14-16 and don't hate myself for it.

NeverHadANickname · 29/06/2021 15:35

Another lover of my pale skin here! I hate that people think you need a tan! It can be so damaging. If you want to use self tanner or whatever then fine, but it shouldn't be the 'normal', we are all our own 'normal'.

HeyDemonsItsYaGirl · 29/06/2021 15:37

Thank you WheresTheLambSauce Flowers

I love my hairy toes!

I read recently that doctors like to see hairy toes because it indicates good circulation. We should all be pleased to have hairy toes!

stickygotstuck · 29/06/2021 15:39

Very gratifying to see more than one PP enjoying their chunkier legs. Mine are like tree trunks. I don't particularly like or dislike the look them, but I love that they make me feel strong (like trooble, except I hate heels but I guess I look fine in them).

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 29/06/2021 15:40

Fair skin. It is not for tanning.

My post baby belly with separated muscles. I dont love it but Im quite happy with it. One of the guides asked if I was pg and it didnt bother me in the slightest.

stealthbanana · 29/06/2021 15:42

Freckles and stretch marks. Just don’t bother me at all.

Also I read something once about women worried about their knees, which struck me as a v niche thing. Am sure mine are not up to scratch but can’t say I’ve ever noticed!

MonicaGellerBing · 29/06/2021 15:44

I'm fat but I still wear maxi dresses and nice flattering clothes, my best feature is my feet, I have really nice feet so love wearing my flip flops in the summer and painting my nails!
