(Lighthearted )

Another summer is upon us, and with it come the shorts, the flowing summer dresses, and the skirts. And, of course, the increased sale of shaving supplies.

It's also yet another summer where I'll be setting aside the razor blades and embracing the wild grasslands that are my legs. What started as a political statement when I was a teenager has now grown into an honest appreciation of my leg fluff. I love how soft it feels under my fingers, how it keeps me just that little bit warmer in winter. I love that I'm embracing a part of myself that's natural, a small way that my body tries to stay safe and cosy.

And, yes, part of me does enjoy surprising people when it's brought up in conversation Wink

So does anyone else have any quirks or natural parts of themselves that they've fallen in love with, even when it flies in the face of what's considered attractive?

Another one with big calves here, formed by years of heel wearing. I flash the muscle with pride Grin

Trumpspeach · 29/06/2021 20:47

I've got a few white hairs that peep out from under my hairline at the back. I love that they're so coy - I want to welcome them out into the big wide world!

Picklesbaby · 29/06/2021 20:48

My chunky thighs after dh telling me how much he loves them all the time.
One boob ridiculously bigger than the other. I’m still feeding my 12month old with just one boobie despite people saying you can’t .

Wish I could love my stretch marks!

Orchidflower1 · 29/06/2021 20:57

I have slim wrists and ankles. The rest of me is not but I love my wrists particularly- strange I know.

@WheresTheLambSauce love your thread!

WeirdArchitecture · 29/06/2021 20:59

blonde lashes and brows. Darker than hair but still pale.
I always felt I ought to alter them or feel to bare....but even though I still wear mascara, I do like the clean feeling of a bare face, it has its own beauty.

CounsellorTroi · 29/06/2021 21:05

I love my glasses. Also my hairy arms.

aloeavera · 29/06/2021 21:07

I'm olive skin and brunette with dark eyes and hair. I have a massive mole on my back. Before I always used to hide it by wearing tops that didn't have a slit on the back or cameo tops which revealed it. Now I don't give a shit. I wear what I want. Also I love my thighs now since giving birth. They were wide before and wider now and I have a wide long ass, so what 🤷🏻‍♀️

thelightishere · 29/06/2021 21:12

My scars and moles!

TooYoungToNotice · 29/06/2021 21:21

My big scars on my back. I used to hide them but now I think they're part on me and who I am.

And my massively wide duck feet. They're so wide that they're comical and it cheers me up to look at them. I can swim a long way and I'm sure my broad flippers help.

I'm also blessed with chunky legs, I love that they look solid and strong. I will never be described as gazelle like!

Jayneisagirlsname · 29/06/2021 21:25

I love my hips. I'm overweight and they're very Mumsy hips but the skin is soft and i find it comforting to stroke there at night. I like my double chin too, it makes me look softer and approachable.
I like that I look Mumsy - I always have, even as a young adult. I think it's why children are always drawn to me and has helped me have a successful career working with children.

Washimal · 29/06/2021 21:25

I am VERY pale, we're talking Lillith from Frasier pale, and I love it. I used to use fake tan when I was younger but now I've fully embraced my snow white complexion and I dye my hair bright, bright red and wear red lipstick to make the most of it.

Grapewrath · 29/06/2021 21:29

I’m very pale with lots of freckles and I love them!
I also have an overbite and chipped tooth and I love them too- sounds awful but they make me, me. I’m quite quirky in every way and I fully embrace that

CorianderBee · 29/06/2021 21:32

Not me but my boyfriend. He has a bumpy Roman/aquiline nose and good Lord it makes me swoon. He looks like a Roman God in my eyes. Apollo or something. Don't think anyone else sees it though 😂

As for me I'm practically pearlescent I'm that pale. And I like it. I feel elegant.

CheerfulBunny · 29/06/2021 21:37

I really like my feet, they're more like paws. The three toes between the big and little are all the same size. There's lots of hate for feet on MN which I don't really get.
I wish I could love my nose, not sure I ever will though. Sometimes it makes me unhappy but it's tolerated at present.

CorianderBee · 29/06/2021 21:46

Oh and I just remembered... half of my eyelashes are white on one eye. Not interspersed but just half across they all are white. Have been since I was 20 and I used to always wear mascara to cover them. During the last year I haven't bothered with makeup and it turns out most people are quite fascinated by them. So I like my odd little eyelashes

CorianderBee · 29/06/2021 21:57

@Orchidflower1

I have slim wrists and ankles. The rest of me is not but I love my wrists particularly- strange I know.

@WheresTheLambSauce love your thread!

To be fair, slim ankles and wrists ARE the beauty standard.
Sleeperagent · 29/06/2021 22:08

My golden eyebrows! They are a lot lighter than my dark blonde hair and are a lovely golden yellow. I have been told to dye them darker as they would frame my face but I love them as they are.

BurtonHouse · 29/06/2021 22:12

The colour of my hair. Even before the acceptance of grey I grew mine out and it's snowy white. It may be too thin but I like it now more than ever.

BillywigSting · 29/06/2021 22:23

I like my marionette lines and my crows feet. I don't have 11s lines so it makes me remember that I've had on the whole a life with much more laughter than sadness in it, and there has been a good deal of sadness, but the good has ultimately outweighed the bad and I am more than happy for that to show on my face.

I also quite like my grey hair as after loosing a few friends far too young I know all too well that not everyone is lucky enough to live long enough to go grey.

I like my big fat wide thighs they are great for balancing my Ds and plates full of cake things on.

SallyCinnabon · 29/06/2021 22:25

Very fair and freckly skin, no I won’t use fake tan, no I’m not a ghost, yes I get my legs out in Summer, no I don’t care they’re “pasty” yes I wear factor 50, yes I’m nearly 40 and don’t have many wrinkles.

I also have thighs that tough each other because they love each other and have hip dips because that’s how my bones are, it’s not because I’m fat there.

tunainatin · 29/06/2021 22:36

This is a lovely thread. I'm short, quite a bit shorter than average, always liked my height, never wear heels or in any other way try to look taller.
Also happy with my natural no make up no hair dye look, despite lots of people over the years assuming I would do all that stuff if only I knew how and 'advising' me Hmm

tunainatin · 29/06/2021 22:38

@CorianderBee
Love those noses too!

CorianderBee · 29/06/2021 22:50

@tunainatin I think there's just something so classic and masculine about them. I also adore his bright Orange hair 😂 Maybe I'm just far too into him, but he has such character in his face and I just think it's utterly lovely.

JocastaElastic · 29/06/2021 22:52

I like the gap between my front teeth (apparently it's lucky), and I'm also very grateful for my really rather ample bottom.

To quote Purple Ronnie:

"Some people go out running
Tto get a skinny tum,
But what I like is a happy face
And a nice big squidgy bum."

ladygindiva · 29/06/2021 22:57

I'm dark haired and have thick brows and hairy arms and toes. Yes toes, like a hobbit. My hairy arms caused me lots of strife as an insecure teen, I avoided short sleeves and I remember being convinced I'd never get a boyfriend or have sex because of them. I'm 46 now and have had plenty of both, and somehow over the years I got quite fond of my hairy arms, and im proud of them now. They seem to represent how little I care how others see me, compared to the insecure teenager I used to be.
