Absolutely sick of this frightened government. Let's get them out and go back to normal life please. Boris is a joke. One rule for him at G7 another for us plebs. He can piss off now thanks.

Who do you want instead?

Workingfromhomeishell · 16/06/2021 23:08

At this stage, anyone.

At this stage, anyone.
Even though they'd all be doing exactly the same at this point, only with combed hair?
SpindleWhorl · 16/06/2021 23:13

Crack on then.

Temp023 · 16/06/2021 23:15

Erm, not sure this is how it works in a democracy.

HannibalHayeski · 16/06/2021 23:15

Bots in already voting!

It's really astounding, but very sad, that they have to do that!

Workingfromhomeishell · 16/06/2021 23:17

But seriously, why would others continue lockdown restrictions. Deaths aren't going up. The vaccine is doing what it's supposed to. The rest of the data is irrelevant. Who cares how many people have it if they aren't sick. We need to move on from this national obsession with case numbers. The rest of the world is opening up. Only this country where we "won the vaccine race" is everyone determined to hide behind their sofa wearing a mask forevermore. We need an opposition and a new leader now to actually make some proper decisions

After seeing the G7 leaders and royal family socialising without masks or social distancing wpund me up.

Tealightsandd · 16/06/2021 23:19

At this point I'd be a bit pissed off if he got to do what he wants - have fun and make lots of money. Does a Cameron. Oh no. You got us into this big mess, Boris. Now you damn well stay, sort it out, and face the music. (Tbf to him, a lot of his shitty decisions have been under coercion from extreme right wingers like Mark Harper and Steve Baker).

TomPinch · 16/06/2021 23:22

They wouldn't.

I'm looking on aghast from outside the UK. For the very first time in my life, the US President looks statesmanlike and the UK PM is a dick.

Starmer isn't a dick.

Boris is making all 60m of you look like dicks in front of the whole world. The UK's selling point is that it's sensible and serious, Johnson is neither.

His government have lost in the courts repeatedly. They don't care because they have no character. Most of them are only in cabinet because they're loyal to Johnson, not because they're competent.

This isn't a left wing versus right wing issue, or even a Brexit issue.

Anyone who thinks the situation is normal is delusional.

The difference between them and the general public is they have guaranteed access to the very best care. Guaranteed hospital bed, drug treatments not necessarily freely available to everyone else, treatment at an earlier stage than anyone else - and early treatment is key.

Also they were mixing just with one another. All fully vaccinated. Notice that The Queen couldn't go to Ascot this week. Because unlike the G7, she couldn't guarantee that all around her would be fully vaccinated.

That said, it was a very bad look. Definitely gace out the wrong message. The governments should lead by example.

Good post @TomPinch

Erm, not sure this is how it works in a democracy.
If it's clear that a PM / government no longer holds public support then members of Parliament have a variety of options.

Just because Johnson won the election doesn't mean he has 4 years to act like a clown.

The problem is public apathy, people not realising that he's a dangerous fool.

LemonRoses · 16/06/2021 23:33

TomPinch. Exactly.

lavenderlou · 16/06/2021 23:34

The G7 was an embarassment. The scruffy buffoon act he likes to play up for the domestic public just doesn't wash for important global summits. There's a picture of the Bidens and the Johnsons walking along a beach. Joe Biden looked the epitome of statesmanlike, while Boris looked like an elderly labrador being taken for a walk. He came across even worse when he opened his mouth.

PersonaNonGarter · 16/06/2021 23:37

People complaining about Johnson’s looks would get slaughtered if it was about a woman eg Angela Merkel.

I kind of want to keep him just to annoy that weasel Cummings.

Better to lock them both in a room far from No 10 and let them fight it out.

Cummings may have gone but he sums up all that is wrong with Johnson's government. They think they are superior beings who the rules don't apply to. They think they're geniuses and that all their friends are geniuses too, held back by some silly rules.

I'm actually neutral on Brexit. It could work out for the UK. But Johnson and his cronies really, really aren't the people you want overseeing it.

Well put TomPinch. Cringed upon hearing Boris trying to address the G7 Conference. What was that about things should be more feminine. He can’t talk without producing flowery/ stupid phrases to impress us of little intellect. The look on the faces of the other leaders was a mix of bewilderment and dismissal. Yes he needs to go.
Orf1abc · 16/06/2021 23:55

Cummings doesn't expect Johnson to resign, his motivation is more about making people squirm and (hopefully, one day) having them held to account for their actions.

Or even worse, Sunak.

The man responsible for losing the taxpayer billions in lost stamp duty.

His ill thought out stamp duty holiday not only lost us billions at a time when tax revenue is much needed, it's further inflated the unsustainable bubble. Pushed house prices up even more out of reach for FTB, left would be upsizers who've outgrown their home stuck, and significantly worsened what was already a homelessness emergency.

EOTHO didn't go so well either.

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 17/06/2021 00:06

Because at this rate there could be large numbers of younger people going in to hospital. Not dying necessarily. But ill enough to take up beds and that threatens the nhs resilience and their chance to catch up on the already massive backlog of other stuff.

Would you kindly, list the details of the various department reports that lead you to the conclusions you have concluded, or would you admit you based your conclusions based on wishful thinking ? Or do you have another source and what's the details please ?
