Light hearted - I obviously realise that individuals have zero control over their date of birth!

BUT hear me out

Jan - mid Feb WRONG (too soon after xmas, we're all too skint and knackered)

Late Feb - mid June RIGHT (birthday season #2)

Mid June - end of first week in Sept WRONG (summer holiday season, birthdays are superfluous)

7th Sept - 20th Dec RIGHT (birthday season #1 AKA the best time to have a birthday)

21st-31st Dec WRONG (gets lost amongst all the Xmas shit)

AIBU?

In what world would the 20th December be seen as a desirable birthday?!

I did dither a bit over when in December is acceptable for a birthday. Perhaps I should have drawn the line a week early on 13th?

Its all up for debate 😁

Birthday season #2 seems like a much better time of year to have a birthday than #1 in my opinion.

VienneseWhirligig · 15/06/2021 22:23

But if you have a summer holiday birthday, you can spend your birthday on holiday every year! I like my July birthday, plus it falls neatly between Christmases so I am never really more than 6 months away from a celebration Grin

Megan2018 · 15/06/2021 22:25

In my world birthdays should only be March-September. Fortunately me, DH and DD got the memo.

I have no time for Oct-Feb birthdays which clash with Christmas.

TheGirlWhoLived · 15/06/2021 22:25

December 18th is a wonderful time for a birthday! Everyone’s in a party mood, sometimes broken up from school so celebratory but not too close to Christmas that people are stressed

Obviously my birthday 🥳

AJ1425 · 15/06/2021 22:25

I have a Christmas day baby and that's definitely the wrong time of year to have a birthday.

mawbroon · 15/06/2021 22:25

Nah, end of November cut off.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 15/06/2021 22:26

2 worst days:
1st Jan, because nobody wants to celebrate whilst hungover and doing it the day before is naff.

14th Feb, obv Valentines. esp if single

Stompythedinosaur · 15/06/2021 22:26

I would say mid spring to early summer is the preferable time for birthdays, Sept to Nov is definitely less good, with fewer options as the weather is worse. Dec birthdays are rubbish and no one wants to celebrate.

StarryStarrySocks · 15/06/2021 22:26

You are spot on in my opinion! Team birthday season #1 here! 🥳

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 15/06/2021 22:27

You'll need to review the best season #1 dates before I can even take this seriously

Charmatt · 15/06/2021 22:27

We are usually on holiday on my OH's birthday and it's always a great day- it's the best time to have a birthday because everyone is happy, we get a great meal out and it feels special.

Hagqueen · 15/06/2021 22:28

Hate my Christmas time birthday. Noone has money, noone has time - thats if I can even get a reservation in a restaurant without booking 8 weeks in advance. I don’t even bother making plans for my birthday anymore, its just a let down.

siblingrevelryagain · 15/06/2021 22:28

I’m Sept 10th and it’s always hot bbq weather 🥳

YellowFish12 · 15/06/2021 22:28

Nope. Love my jan birthday. Cheers up the drab period.

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2021 22:29

I had 2 DC in your birthday season #1 and the other DC and me are in birthday season #2. DH's is shortly after Christmas and it's always a bit of a damp squib. So I guess I kind of agree with you, OP.

Desperatelytrying123 · 15/06/2021 22:30

My birthday is Valentines Day and I love it!

BramStoker · 15/06/2021 22:30

@anotherdayanotherdollar I'm willing to review by bringing the date in December forward a few days but otherwise I'm confident that I am spot on Grin

My DC are January, December & August so all undesirable birth dates 😂

For DD who is January, I would argue it’s a great date for a birthday party when you’re a child as you haven’t seen your school friends through the hols and have lots of Christmas chatter to share.

Singlebutmarried · 15/06/2021 22:31

December is fucking shite for a birthday, you only get a fecking ‘festive’ menu when you go out, everyone’s tied up with bloody Xmas dos (this runs late Nov to mid Jan) and every restaurant is packed.

Fucking awful.

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 15/06/2021 22:33

Oh and a December birthday when you’re a child who likes the outdoors, theme parks etc is shit as they’re all closed unless you want to see Santa 😳

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 15/06/2021 22:33

Nope - this is my birthday & its shit! Between Christmas work nights out & people moaning about money in the run up to Christmas I never do anything - I've had one birthday party in my life when I was 10.

& don't get me started in the "For your birthday at Christmas time" cards & presents wrapped in Christmas paper because "it's all I have in the house" 🤬

SuperCaliFragalistic · 15/06/2021 22:35

March to June is perfect
All of Dec, Jan and Feb is crap (mine is mid Jan)
July is OK
August - youngest in school year + summer hols = crap
Sept - almost as crap as august but not quite
Oct-Nov is OK.

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 15/06/2021 22:36

I forgot about the Christmas menus if I go out for dinner which is another downside to my birthday
