crying woman dilemma

This morning I opened the door to a distraught woman. After I'd managed to calm her down a bit it seems her Husband has told her their marriage is over because he is in love with me. This was a bit of a surprise because I don't actually know this man. She wants me to talk to him and tell him I'm not interested. What would you do it feels he's a bit stalkerish and I definitely don't want to be giving him any encouragement by speaking to him. I do really feel for his poor wife

What the hell? How does he know who you are?

millenialblush · 13/06/2021 22:17

Waaaaay more info needed. How does her husband know you if you dont know him?

sometimescharlottesometimesnot · 13/06/2021 22:18

I would ignore them

DeadSouth · 13/06/2021 22:18

If you don’t know her or him I’d be checking my home to make sure nothing was taken before believing her story.

Hoppinggreen · 13/06/2021 22:19

She sounds nuts and potentially dangerous.
If you see her again cross the road/shut the door and if she harasses you contact the police

GreyhoundG1rl · 13/06/2021 22:19

You don't know him but you know he's a bit stalkerish? That's strange.

Inthesameboatatmo · 13/06/2021 22:21

Lots more info needed op
But also wtf you poor thing having to deal with that .

Forstarters · 13/06/2021 22:23

Lock your door and call the police. Bollocks you feel sorry for a random stranger trying to con you

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/06/2021 22:25

Super strange.

She has the wrong house, surely?

If you literally absolutely don't know the guy?

hullabaloo68 · 13/06/2021 22:25

I don't know he's stalkerish I meant how he's behaving seems that way. I work in a cafe so I'm assuming he might be a customer

Are you sure it isnt mistaken identity on the crying womans part? Sounds extremely odd.

Egeegogxmv · 13/06/2021 22:31

Could she be vulnerable or having a mental health issue ?

romdowa · 13/06/2021 22:32

Personally I'd stay well out of it , don't make this your problem! Her husband could be deranged , it could be some kind of elaborate scam or the woman herself could be unwell. Either way not your circus , not your monkeys and I wouldn't encourage either of them.

hullabaloo68 · 13/06/2021 22:34

I found it extremely odd she knew my name. I definitely didn't let her in it's a concern that she knows where I live I've told my son not to open the door to anyone.

Don't ever open the door to people like that! Sounds like a massive scam - there have been a spate of them lately where someone is crying at the door and when the homeowner opens the door one or more men barge inside, attack and rob them.

Summertime21 · 13/06/2021 22:34

I would guess mistaken identity or some sort of scam do not let her in your house

Waspsarearseholes · 13/06/2021 22:38

I'm sure this very thing happened in something I watched on Netflix fairly recently. I can't remember what it was now.
Clearly this is nothing to do with you, even if it's true.

Mistyplanet · 13/06/2021 22:40

Report to the police. I'd expect it was a scam.

Notaroadrunner · 13/06/2021 22:40

Don't open the door to her again. Look out the front window if someone knocks. I'd also say it's a scam of some sort and would contact the police to ask if anyone has been scammed in this way locally.

catfunk · 13/06/2021 22:56

@Waspsarearseholes behind her eyes Wink

hullabaloo68 · 13/06/2021 22:58

I've rung 101 to report this they haven't heard of this being a new scam. I've got a ring doorbell ordered. I'll be giving all the male customers at the cafe the beady eye from now on.

Even if the husband is a customer, how does that mean they know where you live?

knittingaddict · 13/06/2021 23:01

.

partyatthepalace · 13/06/2021 23:02

Reaaaaaaly?

StayCalm99 · 13/06/2021 23:03

some sort of scam was my thought too.

I'm sure you're extremely fall-in-love-with-able! But it all sounds unlikely, her going to your house, you not knowing who he is.....
