Posting here for traffic...

Doesn't matter if you're already married, never getting married...I just need help and inspiration! I've listened to so much and can't find anything I like. I need to find some new stuff so I am crowdsourcing, hoping someone comes up with a gem.

What would you walk in and out of your ceremony to? (Civil, not church).

OP posts:
Shoxfordian · 10/06/2021 09:14

I walked in to the arrival of the Queen of Sheba and then we had Marry you by Bruno Mars on the walk out

Palavah · 10/06/2021 09:15

All the classics (Here comes the Bride, Mendelssohn's wedding march, Widor's Toccata, Prince of Denmark's march) are secular so you could have any of those if you wished.

What kind of vibe are you looking for?

GigantosaurusRex · 10/06/2021 09:17

In - Jose Gonzalez Heartbeats'

Out - House of Pain 'Jump around'

Yorkshireteaalwayswins · 10/06/2021 09:20

I walked in to Here Comes The Bride and out to U2's "Beautiful Day".

ElectricDwightYorkestra · 10/06/2021 09:20

In - Imperial March (Darth Vader)
Out - Star Wars Theme

Registry office. Much amusement.

CartTriesToDriveTheHorse · 10/06/2021 09:22

I walked in to an classical version of Queen's 'You're my best friend' and walked out to the original version.

Livpool · 10/06/2021 09:23

In - I can't remember

Out - God Only Knows

But they played it late so as me and DH walked out of the room (registry office) it played "I may not always love you"

Our friends said they heard us burst out laughing

Moriarosesbebe · 10/06/2021 09:23

If you are looking for something different Vitamin String quartet do versions of nearly every song imaginable. So if you and DH love slipknot but don't think others would enjoy it you can play the string quartet version.
You can get a live string quartet but they are very pricey. We used a combination of live music and music played through the church speakers. I loved it and it meant we played a huge variety of our musical tastes but without changing the tone of the ceremony.

LilacSloth · 10/06/2021 09:24

In - La Vie En Rose (sung in english)

Out - Signed, sealed, delivered by Stevie Wonder

LemonRoses · 10/06/2021 09:24

Ours was very traditional stuff. Schuberts Ave Maria, Hymns Bind us together, Jerusalem and Make me a Channel of Your Peace.

Our daughter recently came into something from Frozen arranged for an organ. She had Hallelujah chorus and Here I am Lord plus Make me a Channel. No singing permitted though.

Our son is already choosing, but changing quite a lot. So far, Flower of Scotland, Amazing Grace and Highland Cathedral on pipes. Hymns I vow to thee my Country plus Make me a Channel. Much more pomp because it’s a military wedding.

DennisTMenace · 10/06/2021 09:24

Billy Idol white wedding. I don't intend to marry, so can't use it myself. Weirdly never managed to persuade anyone else to either.

MaverickDanger · 10/06/2021 09:26

In - Haley Reinhart’s version of Can’t Help Falling in Love with an instrumental version after in case I walked too slowly.

Out - Jackie Wilson Higher & Higher

Stevearnottsbeard · 10/06/2021 09:29

In- air on a G string
Out- signed sealed delivered by stevie wonder

Malbecfan · 10/06/2021 09:30

Civil ceremony held in a building with a full church-style organ (I am a music teacher/musician). The Registrar would not allow Jupiter from the Planets as it "is a hymn" - it was Jupiter long before it was I Vow to Thee....

Entry: March of the Peers from Iolanthe by Sullivan - I have played it loads of times and it holds many happy memories.

Signing of the register: 2 of my lovely former students sang Evening Prayer from Hansel & Gretel (opera by Humperdinck) and "You'll Never Walk Alone"

Leaving; Widor's Toccata.

I was really lucky in that my old tutor from uni is a world-class organist and played without charging a fee as his present to us. He also arranged the music & rehearsed in the morning with my students.

Catflapkitkat · 10/06/2021 09:32

Got married married in The Little White Wedding chapel in Las Vegas. Hired an Elvis to walk me down the aisle and sing Viva Las Vegas, then after the ceremony he sang Burning Love. 15 years later - yep happy with my choices.

Good luck OP.

ChangePart1 · 10/06/2021 09:33

We chose one song each that was meaningful to us (DH chose a song that is a traditional wedding song in his religion and I chose one of my late mum’s favourite songs), and one song that we both loved.

People can’t give you song ideas specifically, it has to be meaningful to you personally!

20viona · 10/06/2021 09:34

I walked out to the power of love the Gabrielle aplin version. Walked back down the aisle to love never felt so good michael Jackson and Justin timberlake!

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 10/06/2021 09:34

I walked in to 'The Grand March' from Aida. I can't remember what we left to.
I was tempted to go for Iron Maiden's 'Bring your daughter to the slaughter' but wasn't brave enough. Civil ceremony 20ish years ago.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 10/06/2021 09:34

‘It’s Orrible Being in Love When You’re Eight and a Half’ by Claire and Friends.

goose1964 · 10/06/2021 09:35

ItsAllOrangeAndYellow · 10/06/2021 09:54

In: Happy together by the turtles

But both were sang by an acoustic duo

Namechangedlady · 10/06/2021 09:54

@ElectricDwightYorkestra

In - Imperial March (Darth Vader) Out - Star Wars Theme

Registry office. Much amusement.

If I were to have a wedding with guests (me and dp are planning to elope) I would do this but not tell my partner. He would love it and I would love to see his face after realising what was playing on the day!!
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 10/06/2021 09:58

@DennisTMenace Possibly it's the "Hey little sister, shotgun" line that's putting them off? Grin

SprayedWithDettol · 10/06/2021 09:59

The current Mr Dettol suggested ‘Opps I did it again’ for my entrance. (I’d been married before!) Bastard! 😈 we’ve been married a long time and very happily, for those concerned.
