Posting here for traffic...

Doesn't matter if you're already married, never getting married...I just need help and inspiration! I've listened to so much and can't find anything I like. I need to find some new stuff so I am crowdsourcing, hoping someone comes up with a gem.

What would you walk in and out of your ceremony to? (Civil, not church).

We're walking in to The Glasgow Love Theme from Love Actually (we're from Glasgow and Love Actually was one of the first movies we watched together) and exiting to Flower of Scotland on the pipes. First dance The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel.

DulseSeaweed · 10/06/2021 10:50

Civil ceremony. Walked out to cloudbusting by Kate Bush. In I think was Breathe Me by Sia. My husband chose the music. We only had 8 people and it was a casual affair. I think there was also Lucky by Radiohead at some point.

nettytree · 10/06/2021 10:54

I just used the selection offered by the registry office. Couldn't tell you what it was.

JorisBonson · 10/06/2021 10:56

In to Bill Withers - Lovely Day
Signed the register to The Guillemots - Made Up Lovesong #43
Left to Wham - I'm Your Man.

thepeopleversuswork · 10/06/2021 11:04

@IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0

IN - Stairway to Heaven, led Zepelin

OUT - Highway to Hell, AC/DC
(grin)

Are you me? Grin

If I every got married again (and hell would freeze over before I did) it would be A Long Way To the Top If You Wanna Rock n' Roll, AC/DC

WhatTheFlap · 10/06/2021 11:05

In: Pachelbel Canon in D
Out: Theme tune to Jurassic Park

22Giraffes · 10/06/2021 11:09

I'm worried now, getting married next week and the registry office didn't ask about/mention music so I just assumed it was a church thing. Am now worried that they will ask on the day!

Coldilox · 10/06/2021 11:10

We didn’t do the walk in and walk out thing as the idea made me cringe (not in general, just for us, neither of us wanted it).

But at the end of the ceremony we played I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do by ABBA

22Giraffes · 10/06/2021 11:10

Agh next month not next week...

Winniewonka · 10/06/2021 11:12

Not my wedding but a church one that I attended had a young guy on piano and he sang 'Lovely Day' as the bride walked down the aisle. He had a wonderful soulful voice to match Bill Withers.
The bride and bridesmaids wore vintage style 1950s mid calf dresses, their shoes were peep toed, ankle strapped and very flattering. I just thought what a refreshing change from the bare shoulder, laced corset look😀

Sgtmajormummy · 10/06/2021 11:17

A tiny country church with an organist who could only play Schubert’s “Ave Maria”.
So that’s what we got.
Grin

Coldilox · 10/06/2021 11:19

Other songs we had (while signing the register, during photos etc) were First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes, Today by Joshua Radin and a few others I can’t remember

Sgtmajormummy · 10/06/2021 11:19

But if I could have chosen I’d have used “For unto us a child is born” from Handel’s Messiah.
No, I wasn’t pregnant, it’s just a joyful piece. And short

TheDogsMother · 10/06/2021 11:26

We deliver chose upbeat tracks as there was a danger we would both start blubbing.

Walked in to You're my best friend, Queen. Signed register to It must be love, Madness and Signed Sealed Delivered, Stevie Wonder. Walked out to Happy, Pharrell Williams. Didn't have quite enough time for Do I love you Indeed I do, Frank Wilson.

TheScottishPlay · 10/06/2021 11:27

Down the aisle: My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns - DH and I met as members of The Labour Party.

Up the Aisle : Prelude to Te Deum by Charpentier (theme tune to The Eurovision Song Contest?).
Lifelong fan of Eurovision. DH not so much - he suggested the Sportscene theme tune.

Wedding in July 2001.

DownWhichOfLate · 10/06/2021 11:27

@22Giraffes - the registry office should contact you in advance to check what music you want (if you want any).

merryhouse · 10/06/2021 11:30

ooooh @Malbecfan I came in to March of the Peers too!

CheerfulBunny · 10/06/2021 11:39

First wedding - very trad. Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and Wedding March.
When current OH and I finally get round to it, going in I'd like 'Fallen' by Lauren Wood (was used in Pretty Woman for the going to the opera bit) because I love the lyrics and it makes me shivery. Going out maybe 'It must be Love' by Madness as again, I love the lyrics. Both are significant to me and OH when we first started going out. I think that's the key - it should mean something to you and be memorable.

Malbecfan · 10/06/2021 11:41

@merryhouse that's brilliant! I love all the Tan-Tan-Taras in it...

BoattoBolivia · 10/06/2021 11:41

Soundtrack music from Muriel's Wedding- in to the film wedding march, which is an instrumental version of Abba's Dancing Queen , then I do, I do, I do at some point. Dancing Queen was soooo us but one of those tunes that people didn't notice immediately. Lots of 'was that really dancing Queen you walked in to?' 😂

CornishGem1975 · 10/06/2021 11:57

Really? We're having a civil ceremony but at a venue, and we need one song to walk in, one to walk out and 2-3 for the signing of the register etc. I would call them and check!

Didn't have any in and out songs because it was all very relaxed and communal but 3 songs whilst register signing - At Last by Ella Fitzgerald, Horse It Into Ya, Cynthia (which is my husband's song for me... HAHAHA! He's a dolt) and All of Me by John Legend. All had really meaningful lyrics for us and they're lovely to listen to now.

motogogo · 10/06/2021 13:17

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, in wedding March by Mendelssohn out.

Pick whatever you like

motogogo · 10/06/2021 13:19

My dd wants to come into I was glad and Mendelssohn out, her dsis will arrange music so register signing music will be full on, octet, string quartet type thing, pro musician

Theonewiththecandles · 10/06/2021 13:20

Walked down the aisle to "take on the world" by you me at six.

Played "medicine" by the 1975 to sign the register

Had "victorious" by panic at the disco to play us out. Almost chose death of a bachelor by the same band though!

We had rearranged our wedding 3 times due to covid so really did feel victorious finally getting married
