I didn’t know boots used to sell crockery. Does anyone recognise this?

I’ve recently been given quite a lot of kitchen stuff for my new house. I was given this crockery. I’m late 30’s and have never seen crockery in boots. It says boots company and made in Ireland. Anyone have any idea of how old it is? Thanks 😀

I remember buying some cutlery there in the late 90s.

HOkieCOkie · 08/06/2021 13:30

According to google it was sold during the 70,s 80’s and 90’s.

I used to love the Boots crockery dept as a kid. I'm sure my mum still has the harvest pattern bowls.

In the nineteen sixties, Boots amalgamated with another form called Timothy Whites and Taylor’s. TW&T were chemist and household products suppliers so Boots took over the household products as well as the pharmaceuticals. This went on until the mid eighties when the TW&T influence seemed to disappear from Boots shops.

Defiantly41 · 08/06/2021 13:31

Yes I had that! It was called Carmargue and it was mid to late 80s

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 08/06/2021 13:31

I got married in 97 and my wedding china came from boots

FadedRed · 08/06/2021 13:31

form = firm

I vaguely remember Boots selling crockery. I think this is 1980s too I remember my auntie having it before she switched to Eternal Beau at the end of the 80s

Sparklingbrook · 08/06/2021 13:32

Yes, I have some lovely pasta bowls from Boots. Definitely purchased after DS was born in 1999.
They had quite a big kitchen section in the nearest large Boots.

bridgetreilly · 08/06/2021 13:33

I still have a lasagne dish I bought in Boots in the early 90s.

Orf1abc · 08/06/2021 13:34

I worked there in the mid nineties, it was still for sale then in larger stores.

Anjo2011 · 08/06/2021 13:34

I had some salad bowls from there they were lovely. I remember buying them in boots in slough. Must have been around 25 years ago.

DeadBod · 08/06/2021 13:34

I bought my first tv from Boots. They used to sell all sorts.

DistrictCommissioner · 08/06/2021 13:34

My measuring cups come from Boots.

Blacktothepink · 08/06/2021 13:36

I’m sure Boots used to sell records too.

Evenstar · 08/06/2021 13:37

They had a set with poppies too, there was a whole department in bigger stores called Boots Cookshop with all sorts of kitchen stuff

I got a rug from there to take to university in 1994.

StopGo · 08/06/2021 13:37

"PLC" was first used in 1981.

DynamoKev · 08/06/2021 13:38

I have some Hornsea pottery from Boots. I think there were some designs made for Boots exclusively.
Before my time - but Boots used to have a Library and a Cafe in some stores.

I hadn't realised this. I used to love TImothy Whites - like a cheaper Lakeland. Our local store shut down in the 80s and a big new Boots store moved in - makes perfect sense now!
AnneKipanki · 08/06/2021 13:42

Boots definitely had records . I bought my first single there.

EdgeOfFortyNine · 08/06/2021 13:44

Our Boots used to sell records and also computers. We received Boots Cookshop items in 1996 when we got engaged.
