To ask if your seatbelt slides up and rubs against your neck

I have huge breasts. Not sure if this is why it happens but whether I am driving or a passenger the seatbelt always slides up and rubs against my.neck..i am constantly pulling it away from my neck which I'm sure isn't safe.
Does anyone else have this problem?

I do. It's possibly because most safety equipment was designed for men's bodies. They didn't think of norks when inventing seat belts, stab vests, PPE etc

Mollypolly2610 · 06/06/2021 22:51

Me too and worse when it’s hot and sweaty

Sparrowsong · 06/06/2021 22:51

I do, it’s really annoying!

Sparkesy · 06/06/2021 22:52

Yes, and I am large of nork too.
It's worse in a Volvo I've noticed Smile

Summerdayshaze · 06/06/2021 22:52

Yes I do and I bloody hate it!

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 06/06/2021 22:52

Yes.

ImbarbaraB · 06/06/2021 22:52

My car has an adjuster on the b pillar to bring it down if it ribs the neck

This is great but rides in cars without is hugely uncomfortable

I don’t have huge boobs either

Satstar · 06/06/2021 22:52

It is awful and makes my neck really itch. Has anyone found anything that works to stop this happening? Hmm

Sportsnight · 06/06/2021 22:52

Yes! It’s too high even in the lowest setting.

MrsBungle · 06/06/2021 22:53

Yes! Bloody annoying

MrMeeseekslookatme · 06/06/2021 22:53

Can't say I have this problem. But my feet never reach the pedals.

Whatnowwhy · 06/06/2021 22:53

Mine does but my boobs are tiny.
I always thought it was because I’m short

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 06/06/2021 22:54

Yes! All the bloody time! It can’t be the most safe application of a seat belt if, for some bodies, it’s always at neck level.

Fyredraca · 06/06/2021 22:54

All the time, drives me nuts.
I have adjusted it to the lowest setting but it still rubs. I don't have huge boobs but they aren't small either.

littlepattilou · 06/06/2021 22:54

@Satstar

There is an adjuster on it. I have this on every car I get in! The seatbelt is always too high/rubs on my neck!

Apparently everyone is taller than me grrrrr.

Just adjust it. maybe ask a man as he is more likely to know how to alter it IME... Sorry chicks! Blush

Will have a look at mine tomorrow and see if I can adjust it. Thank you 😀

Yep. Really irritates me. I’m 5’9 as well so it’s not only a short person thing

LibertyGables · 06/06/2021 22:57

www.celticandco.com/home-living/accessories/seat-belt-cover?colourid=245&glCountry=GB&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5PGFBhC2ARIsAIFIMNeyuucGE3eXJ4paYaUqgVRZDoZwmNcvpq7JaJMGcCkIdpBvsaqectwaAjvxEALw_wcB I had one of these, which was brilliant, but forgot to take it out when I sold my car.... Keep meaning to get a new one!

Concestor · 06/06/2021 23:03

Yes! Even on the lowest setting. Sometimes it's so distracting that I tuck the belt under my arm. I know that's dangerous but I have sensory issues and it can get to the point where I can't drive or concentrate sure to the irritation.

I wish manufacturers would sort it out.

Ladybird69 · 06/06/2021 23:05

It happens in every single car that I get into. I was in an accident once and the seat belt gave me a friction burn across my neck and that was only a little bump. It scares me and wish that I could put seatbelt under my arm, I’ve even tried the seatbelt adjusters that you can buy.

Thomasina79 · 06/06/2021 23:05

@LibertyGables

This looks good, but isn’t it very hot in summer

I also have this seatbelt problem btw

Makes my skin itch too. The webbing traps the small hairs and I have a rash, permanently, under my neck, almost in a straight line.

The seatbelt can be lowered but it's already on the lowest setting. I'm 5'4" so not tiny.
Has always bothered me.

NiceGerbil · 06/06/2021 23:07

Yes every car I've driven.

Even with seat height adjusted and seat belt slidey thing.

It's because cars are designed around the average man basically.

There's a book with loads of this stuff in.

xyzandabc · 06/06/2021 23:07

Yes, I have this issue. I'm 5'6" so not super short. The belt is adjustable and is on its lowest setting, goes across my neck every time when I'm driving. I do worry if I were in an accident, could it slice right through my neck?

Happens less as a passenger as then I can move the seat back which helps.

HappyintheHills · 06/06/2021 23:21

Yes I have this and an adjuster - it doesn’t adjust enough
I’d put money on it being because they design cars to fit a standard man
