To wait until Monday for a lump in my armpit?

Two days ago I got what I think is an ingrown hair in my arm pit? It isn't red and wasn't red but it felt like I had a pimple coming up. I had a few ingrown hairs in my arm pits as a teen and it feels like that (sort of)
Anyway I haven't been able to lift my arm up it it hurts so much. Yesterday it felt even worse and today even worse. I just asked my husband to have a look again and now there is a lump bigger then a grape, more the size of a date? Sticking out under my arm. It is very very very painful. I do not have a fever.

Can I leave it until Monday? I don't want it to turn into a massive painful cyst. I also don't want it to become very infected and sore. I don't have a fever. Have had some weird issues with not having a temperature and having massive infections/ having a high temp and no infection so I don't know how reliable this is to guess if the arm pit situation is serious,

Is it best to wait until Monday?

Have you called 111 to see what they advise? Is it hard?

If it's causing you that much pain, I personally wouldn't wait until tomorrow.

AllHallowsEve14 · 05/06/2021 19:27

I wouldn't wait till Monday, sounds like you need to be seen ASAP. Can you go to your local walk in/urgent care centre?

PuzzledObserver · 05/06/2021 19:28

If it’s very very painful, I wouldn’t wait. Is there an out of hours/walk in centre near you? Or ring 111 for advice.

cultkid · 05/06/2021 19:28

I can't bare to touch it any more then lightly

It feels v dense not like a pocket of water for example

Really? My husband thinks someone needs to see it this weekend.

I am worrying myself as I did hear about Simone who got sepsis from a cyst in their armpit.

My mum and sister don't live near by to ask

I could call 111 and ask them, perhaps I could pop into a minor injuries tomorrow

My GP isn't doing F2F app

Sorry I posted too soon

So I would need to send in a photo but I'm not sure what they could assess from the photos as there isn't much to see except a very obvious lump

Ring 111 and ask them.

I would get it seen but they should be able to give proper medical advice.

BrutusMcDogface · 05/06/2021 19:32

Definitely ring 111 and I think it probably does need to be seen sooner rather than later, especially as it does sound like it’s infected.

ineedaholidaynow · 05/06/2021 19:33

Why do you need to ask your mum or sister? Are they doctors?

I would be seeking medical advice

2tired2bewitty · 05/06/2021 19:34

If it’s that bad go and get it seen now. My husband had something similar a couple of weeks ago but his symptoms were masked by his covid jab (we put his feeling crap down to that rather than the lump under his arm). By the time he got to see the gp on Monday morning he was sent straight to the hospital for surgery to drain it. If you go now you might get away with antibiotics and if it’s more serious it won’t get any worse.

Bordernotboarder · 05/06/2021 19:35

I had similar over the weekend recently (different part of my body) and they prescribed antibiotics over the phone.

TheGumption · 05/06/2021 19:36

I personally would get this seen ASAP. I had the same and had to have it drained urgently I A&E because I started to get very unwell. The stuff that came out was rank 😷

4PawsGood · 05/06/2021 19:36

Hot doesn’t sound great. I’d get it seen to.

scaredsadandstuck · 05/06/2021 19:37

Call 111. This sort of thing is exactly what they are there for. It will take them a while to come back to you I would think, so the sooner you ring the better.

Where I live 111 can give you an out of hours GP appointment so you don't sit for ages in A&E or walk in. Hopefully the same for you.

SenseOfDuty · 05/06/2021 19:38

Hot means its infected. Go and get it seen.

WelcomingSummer · 05/06/2021 19:39

I would definately call 111, it sounds as if it is getting worse. Good luck OP.

cultkid · 05/06/2021 19:40

Am on hold to 111

4PawsGood · 05/06/2021 19:41

Good luck with it.

QuestionableMouse · 05/06/2021 19:43

Glad you're not waiting. Hope it gets sorted D quickly for you.

cultkid · 05/06/2021 19:44

Still on hold 😒 what about if I go tomorrow morning to the urgent care walk in centre

OP posts:
ineedaholidaynow · 05/06/2021 19:45

I would stay on hold

AutumnBrooke · 05/06/2021 19:45

Stay on hold. Its worth getting it seen tonight if possible.

cultkid · 05/06/2021 19:46

I've come in to stay on hold

The first Saturday evening in ages I haven't had a glass of wine as well, so I could also drive to get some help if I needed to I guess
Urgh what if they drain it? Does that hurt?

Onceuponatime1818 · 05/06/2021 19:48

You’ll may need antibiotics
