To wait until Monday for a lump in my armpit?

Two days ago I got what I think is an ingrown hair in my arm pit? It isn't red and wasn't red but it felt like I had a pimple coming up. I had a few ingrown hairs in my arm pits as a teen and it feels like that (sort of)
Anyway I haven't been able to lift my arm up it it hurts so much. Yesterday it felt even worse and today even worse. I just asked my husband to have a look again and now there is a lump bigger then a grape, more the size of a date? Sticking out under my arm. It is very very very painful. I do not have a fever.

Can I leave it until Monday? I don't want it to turn into a massive painful cyst. I also don't want it to become very infected and sore. I don't have a fever. Have had some weird issues with not having a temperature and having massive infections/ having a high temp and no infection so I don't know how reliable this is to guess if the arm pit situation is serious,

Is it best to wait until Monday?

All of the gp practises here are awful and over subscribed I am so fed up of it

Yes I need to go private but I want face to face because I want someone to feel my lumps and do a whole checkup and see if there is something that caused the lumps ☹️☹️

Hoping my complaint gets me somewhere xx

@cultkid, yes co-amoxiclav is penicillin with clavulanic acid (makes it more potent against a wider rage of bacteria - specifically bacteria producing beta-lactamase, so can overcome some of the issues with antibiotic resistance).

It can make you sick, but sounds like you’re having an extreme reaction which you should certainly tell your doctor about. Are you usually ok with penicillin?

Your symptoms are interesting, forgive me asking, but have you recently had the covid vaccine? This is anecdotal, but there have been some reactions seen post vax involving lymphatic system.

Have you even had bloods done at this point to check for infection and inflammation markers?

You will get to the bottom of this OP trust me

@WilsonMilson yes for anarobic bacteria under the skin ive been told it's good the co amoxiclav

I've had sepsis three times so very worried about it but that came from pseudomonas

I have indeed had both vaccines and we know I have a bit of a strange immune system, perhaps this is why it happened

It is such an extreme reaction I would say I had the injection approx 6 weeks ago?

Xx

@cultkid honestly, it’s impossible to say with any certainty. The vaccines are still too novel to have a decent profile on reactions and time delay, however lymph reactions would be unlikely to happen immediately and are certainly possible.

You say you’ve had sepsis 3 times. That’s unusual. Have you got a compromised immune system or diabetes? Have you taken a lot of antibiotics in your life (you may have some resistance).

Problem if it’s pseudomonas is general antibiotic resistance. Firstly, it would be helpful to find the primary source of infection and get a culture. If none is found (and sounds like none has been) then it’s guess work on the antibiotics. Pseudomonas would need something heavier then co-amox. I would guess Ciprofloxacin, but knowing the side effects of Cipro I would be VERY wary of taking that (or any fluoroquinolone) but I know they are often prescribed. They are not to be taken lightly.

Hopefully as the lumps are going down that the co-amox is working and will continue to. If it is, don’t let them fob you off with 7 days. You need at least 10 days.

Hey Wilson I don't usually bother to reply to anyone @WilsonMilson

So I had to have Taxycin and Gentomycin as I was pregnant in the second and third trimester
I am query bechets I don't have the typical presentation
I had a nephrodtomy which is why I got the pseudomonas sepsis 3 times In 20 weeks

The lumps have reduced would you think I should carry on with the flux and the Co amoxiclav I know I couldn't take it when I was pregnant as it can make a baby dead

Deaf sorry

Definitely continue the course of antibiotics, very important not to stop now was you’re feeling a reduction in symptoms. Hopefully they will sort it out, but still think you need further investigation to see what’s at the root of this.

lotstolose1 · 12/06/2021 22:46

Hot water compress on it should make it feel a lot better (if it is a ingrown hair/ cyst) but I would definitely be going to walk-in / call 111 if painful. If just a cyst then can Lance it and pack it.

lotstolose1 · 12/06/2021 22:55

Sorry only read the main post and didn't realise the dates, I'm sorry you've been treated so rubbish.

I still stand by hot water compress on the lump. Maybe TMI but I had one, in the vaginal area, it was absolutely huge and I was in agony. I was far too embarrassed to even get seen so I just kept sitting in a hot bath and using a hot flannel and it helped a ton. Hope it gets better. Please don't worry about cancer, they are very common in that area under the arm, I've had multiple but not as bad as you describe Thanks

NOTANUM · 12/06/2021 23:56

You have been treated so badly by your local GP and the hospital. They're keeping you running from pillar to post and frankly it's awful that GPs still aren't doing F2F when everyone else is trying to work as normal.
No real advice but I hope you get it sorted soon. Flowers
