To tell friend this outfit is inappropriate

Can I just say I am usually let people wear what the hell they want without criticism.

My friend has sent me a photo of her in a outfit for her brothers wedding. It is a white jumpsuit that is cut right down to the navel, she has big boobs so basically all that is covered is her nipples. I am guessing she must have some kind of body tape keeping it in place.
She doesn’t get on at all with sister in law to be so I think this might be to wind her up.
I have mentioned the colour and said you don’t wear white to a wedding but she has come back with it’s a jumpsuit and not a dress.
She is not going to come off well is she?

She’s clearly very upset about something.

I’d give her a few days and if she’s normally normal and a good mate I’d ask her how she is.

If she’s not I’d just leave things there tbh. Who needs the drama.

Mintsmints · 02/06/2021 21:17

She def had her own quirky style which she pulls off well. I would never have imagined her to wear anything like this for any event. I honestly think she will feel really exposed and uncomfortable in it, especially if people are sniggering or say someone. The brides sister is very outspoken so I can see it ending in tears for her

@Mintsmints

She has texted back saying fuck off

Ok then..... obviously I had to say it was gorgeous and everyone will fall at her feet in worship and the bride will be outshone.

She sounds like a charmer!
EmpressSuiko · 02/06/2021 21:18

She sounds so classy!

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 02/06/2021 21:18

Let's see a photo of the outfit Op!

maddiemookins16mum · 02/06/2021 21:18

Yep, she knows. Shame that someone will spill a drink on it very early on in the proceedings (ideally before the bride arrives).

HerMammy · 02/06/2021 21:18

When is the wedding? I’ll keep an eye out for her in the FB wedding shaming group 👀👀

frankenpoodle · 02/06/2021 21:19

I tend to think people overdo it on the "never wear white or black to a wedding" thing, but it is poor manners to make yourself the centre of attention at someone else's wedding. A white jumpsuit with her breasts threatening to pop out at any moment? A very poor choice.

She must know this is a bad idea, but she evidently wants to do it any way, probably because to spite her SIL. You could say something more, but she's not likely to appreciate any criticism. She doesn't sound like a very nice person, to tell the truth. I'd probably start distancing myself from someone like that, unless you're in this friendship for the drama.

OhRene · 02/06/2021 21:19

I'd remind her once more that wearing white to a wedding is a complete no no and ask her, will she be okay being the talk of the day? Of course as a guest she won't upstage the bride but she will be painted as a nasty (or pathetic) piece of work that is trying to do so.

LookItsMeAgain · 02/06/2021 21:19

Is it like this one @Mintsmints - grlondonparis.com/home/30-79-structured-deep-v-neck-jumpsuit-iconie.html

Lollypop701 · 02/06/2021 21:19

Sounds like she will think everyone is looking at her because she’s gorgeous… whilst everyone else is thinking sad Bitch. Stay away from the car crash op

Arbadacarba · 02/06/2021 21:19

You've said your piece, so it's up to her now.

She will look silly at best, and personally I wouldn't want to be reliant on boob tape to preserve my decency at an all-day event like a wedding where there'll be lots of moving around.

Mintsmints · 02/06/2021 21:20

I wish I could but it would be so outing (not that this thread is not outing in the first place) but I think I photo of her even with the head cut out would be a step too far. I am kind of hoping she sees this but I don’t think she is on mumsnet. It’s new so I could google it to see if I can find a pic of the outfit itself

It is like that LookItsMeAgain but not cut out at the side

Gertie75 · 02/06/2021 21:22

You've done all you can by texting her and after her reply you can sit back and watch the fall out guilt free.

When is the wedding?

Mintsmints · 02/06/2021 21:25

It’s almost the same as this one

Ericaequites · 02/06/2021 21:25

One just doesn’t wear white to a wedding, just as no color but white is suitable on the tennis court or at a debutante ball.

Ostara212 · 02/06/2021 21:25

@Mintsmints

It is like that LookItsMeAgain but not cut out at the side
Is she just trolling you all?

Weird whatever it is.

Mintsmints · 02/06/2021 21:26

Again not cut out at the back but the front of the suit is very much like this and the material over the breasts

Really? A step too far?

FunMcCool · 02/06/2021 21:28

That’s a risk of an outfit at any event- takes quite a person to pull it off. Is she pulling it off? Not that it matters just curious.

nimbuscloud · 02/06/2021 21:29

Just ignore her?

woofgoesthecat · 02/06/2021 21:33

How old are you?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 02/06/2021 21:46

She’s obviously not getting the response she wants from you. I think it’s a case of sending one last text and saying “this isn’t going to reflect well on you. Everyone will know why you’re doing it but they won’t take your side. Everyone will take Bride’s side and it’s not just now but anytime Bride bitches about you, your family will think she has a point because you wore that to her wedding. Take the high road.” If she still doesn’t change it, leave her to her own demise. There’s nothing else you can do.

Someone wore a floor length white dress to my friend’s wedding. I was bridesmaid and during photos everyone came up to my friend to tell her what a bitch this person was, how tacky she was. Everyone was giving this woman dirty looks all day. In defence of this woman, I don’t think she actually knew she committing a faux pas, she was quite young and seemed quite embarrassed at the attention. She didn’t have an obvious grudge to my friend. My friend found everyone’s reaction quite weird because there’s no way you could miss her as the bride because she was in the biggest, whitest, sparkliest dress ever. Years later people still ask how she felt about the woman who wore white at her wedding.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 02/06/2021 21:53

If you're not arsed about the friendship...could you forward the pic to her mum? She's going to make a massive tit out of herself if she wears that.
