I HATE my wedding dress

xela21 · 19/05/2021 16:38

I'm getting married next month, my dress has arrived and I hate it. I need to find a new one and fast. Please help?

I have toyed with the idea of non-white dresses, at this rate I'm open to anything. Ideally wanted a midi length pale dress that doesn't look like a bridesmaid dress (The one I have bought is blush and floaty and bridesmaidy). :( :(

What do you hate about it? Did you try on a sample before it was ordered?

Your best bet might be a bridal shop to see if they have any off the shelf. Or somewhere like Whistles or Monsoon, both of which I think have wedding ranges

I’d always go for white (or variant eg ivory) but that’s just my personal preference. It’s your wedding, your day, wear whatever you like!

FizzyPink · 19/05/2021 16:41

I’d second the high street stores with bridal ranges, they’re not massively expensive either.
Or ASOS also have some beautiful occasion dresses plus a bridal collection. If you use Klarna you can order loads to get an idea of what you like and then just send it all back if you don’t like it without having the money go out from your account.

Needle and Thread dresses are gorgeous

Needle and thread are nice (depending on build)

Wed2b have really great wedding dresses and you can buy them off the peg.

Failing that go to browns or liberty or Selfridges (if you can't get to the others) and get a personal shopper they will help you find something amazing....

Crunchymum · 19/05/2021 16:51

Show us the dress you hate.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/05/2021 16:52

Can you add a photo of you in the dress? We might be able to help and recommend some alternations / different styling

Does this look too bridesmaidy too?

I would definitely say that’s a bridesmaids or a prom dress.
mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/05/2021 16:53

I'm sorry to say it does OP.

DD and I went through a phase of watching those Say Yes to the Dress shows and one bit of advice was this is your one day to be the Bride.

You could wear that dress as a guest.

There will be something you find that will be right-can you say an bit more about your vision?

reginafalange2020 · 19/05/2021 16:54

Wed2b have some lovely dresses, you can take them home on the same day
ASOS
eBay - 2nd hand abs some bridal
Outlets on eBay too
Etsy
Monsoon
Some bridal shops will have ones you can get off the rack.

You've got time don't panic

Bluntness100 · 19/05/2021 16:54

I don’t think it is bridesmaidy, I think it’s lovely and with the right flowers, shoes and hair you’d look lovely.

Gazelda · 19/05/2021 16:54
I think this very bridesmaid-y. Sorry. It looks better for a bride in white - what do you think?
lazyarse123 · 19/05/2021 16:56

I love the amazon one.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 19/05/2021 16:57

Please don't buy dresses from Amazon. You never know what you're going to get from there and I don't want you to order another one to just be disappointed again.

Do you have a picture of the first one?

The white version of that dress is stunning IMV. The coloured ones are a bit non bride alright, but that white one, OMG it is gorgeous, well to my eyes anyway.
Bluntness100 · 19/05/2021 16:59

I think this is nicer and perfect for a bride, although it’s labelled as a bridesmaids dress, and in the same price range.

xela21 · 19/05/2021 17:03

I'm trying and failing to attach the pic of me wearing it.
Price isn't really an issue, happy to pay maybe up to £300. It's the lack of time thats my main issue.

I think it's a lovely dress. Is it true to size? Xx

firstimemamma · 19/05/2021 17:04

You could order a monsoon dress tonight, that's where mine is from.

No to this one, it’s too bridesmaid/prom-y and also doesn’t look special enough
Flowers500 · 19/05/2021 17:05

Needle and Thread would be a good place to start?

mahguy · 19/05/2021 17:05

The amazon & asos ones are way too bridesmaid & not special enough imo.

BasiliskStare · 19/05/2021 17:05

@xela21I think @Bluntness100 has it if it suits you - that looks lovely - I got married in an Amanda Wakely evening dress which was on offer - so bought it in a sale - but hey - one day - I still like it to this day - no need to spend a fortune ( mine was not white ) - I did spend some money on a french veil .

That's just gorgeous.

diddl · 19/05/2021 17:05

It's a gorgeous dress, Op.

What type of wedding is it?
