I HATE my wedding dress

I'm getting married next month, my dress has arrived and I hate it. I need to find a new one and fast. Please help?

I have toyed with the idea of non-white dresses, at this rate I'm open to anything. Ideally wanted a midi length pale dress that doesn't look like a bridesmaid dress (The one I have bought is blush and floaty and bridesmaidy). :( :(

I got mine from Sessun Oui:

en.sessun.com/catalogue/sessun-wedding.html

Ordered it from a French department store and asked them to expedite it. Came it about three days (this was pre-brexit though) and cost about 250 euros. It felt very cool - special but understated - and fit well.

I had a wedding dress made and absolutely hated it. I walked into Harvey Nichols and bought a dress off the peg - loved it

Have you looked at Monsoon, Phase Eight and Chi Chi London? They have some nice dresses

Some of these are stunning.

Oxfam
They have bridal departments. Try on loads.

@xela21

I dont know why but something just doesn't feel quite right about a pure white dress. But then neither does bright colours so I end up favouring the pale colours which naturally look bridesmaid-y!

Maybe it's because I am atheist (not having a church wedding).

I think something thats a pale shade of gold/beige may be the answer like this? ]] unfortunately they dont have my size (8)

This is an 8 and is pale gold.

Just saying.

Hope you find something you like x

Never heard of this shop before but they are amazing! Want to send mine back now.

Of the dresses linked, the more fitted ones look more elegant & bridal. I would think you will stand out more as the bride.
If you are shorter height like me, I would advise against the loose fit or the shorter dresses. The white shorter dresses are too preteen or even communion like & coloured short dresses are too prom like.

I got married in this from Dorothy perkins. Teamed it with a nice phase 8 cardi.

I HATE my wedding dress

BasiliskStare · 19/05/2021 18:14

As per above I got married in a champagne / gold dress which was an evening dress from Amanda Wakely bought in a sale and then a french veil dyed with tea to match - dress £400 so quite expensive but I was not going to spend £3000 + for a dress for one one day. Other opinions are available . Pragmatic - me ? ha ha

RandomMess · 19/05/2021 18:15

I wore a monsoon bridesmaid dress it was green and beaded with a gold veil, the veil made it bridal if that makes sense.

Does this look too bridesmaidy too?

I love that dress. If there are only 12 of you I think it would be fine, it's not the traditional big white wedding.
looptheloopinahulahoop · 19/05/2021 18:17

Oh lost the link - it was the Amazon one that was purple. I loved it! But might be a bit bridesmaidy but at a small wedding you can get away with anything you like really.

Cowbells · 19/05/2021 18:18

This is maxi but gold - is it too fussy?

Disfordarkchocolate · 19/05/2021 18:20

Ghost is worth a try too.

Baycitystroller · 19/05/2021 18:20

I’d be tempted to go shortish. Sixties style maybe.
