To actually be concerned that my DC will be learning this absolute nonsense

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 14:43

I've been noticing a lot lately on social media, people in the comments referring to 'penis holders', 'chest feeders', 'people with a cervix' etc...

Just reading a thread now on a group I'm in and not a single person is saying the word man or woman (it's a discussion about circumcision and whether it should be banned).

The world has gone fucking mad and I can't stand it. I'm genuinely concerned that my DC are going to grow up thinking this utter nonsense is right.

I feel like the only person who's thinking 'MEN, YOU MEAN FUCKING MEN FOR CHRIST SAKE' as literally everyone on it seems to be buying into this crap.

It's utterly insane.

Make sure they know that sex and gender are different things. So much language has been mangled because people conflate the two.

FOJN · 13/05/2021 15:27

And tell them facts and material reality are not exclusionary or hateful.

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:28

A friend of mine received a letter last year from their child's school about a teacher who apparently self identifies only sometimes as a woman and pupils, parents and staff were to call him Freya (not actual name) on the days he wore a dress and Frank on the days he wore a shirt and trousers.

We are also small town UK.

@BuggerBognor

OP I think you’ve “peak-trans’ed” (as have I....) Wine
Yes I believe so. I feel like just deleting my account as I seem to be the only sane person. Thank God for you lot!

I do think people are just too scared to say otherwise now publicly.

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

It is insane - and it makes fighting for the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls so much harder. How can you promote the rights of women in STEM industries or at top management levels, if Bob can bung on a dress and call himself Roberta, and is then counted as a woman for the equality statistics?

Or if a person with a penis can use it to rape a woman, then can decide they are female, get put in a Women’s prison (endangering the women inmates) AND have their crime recorded as being carried out by a woman?

Girls are missing out on athletic/sporting scholarships in the States because boys are identifying as girls, beating the girls with their superior strength and physique and winning the girls’ scholarships.

An indigenous woman has lost her place as an Olympic weightlifter to Lauren Hubbard - a person born male, and a millionaire, who was a mediocre male competitor, but now identifies as female and will be competing against biological women in the Olympics.

It is all absolute madness and makes me furious.

I agree with every word of this!
Tangledtresses · 13/05/2021 15:30

Currently driving me bananas too op! Kids coming home spouting all sorts of nonsense about me being cis
I laughed at my male born penis holder and told him having periods and giving birth are indeed a privilege but until you've pushed a coconut out of your bum and fed a baby from your own boobs to keep them alive, you've no idea what you ARE TALKING ABOUT

He didn't say it again

Good bloody God. What a self-absorbed twat this teacher is.

"Call me this, call me that...." and expecting everyone to bow down...He's soooooo going to get the piss taken out of him by the kids.

Fixitup2 · 13/05/2021 15:32

@WoolieLiberal

Hey! I’ve got a great idea!

Now that we have these great new Woke terms, “Penis holders” and “non penis holders”, perhaps we could use them for things like...ooh...I dunno.... public toilets!

We could have one public toilet for “Penis holders” and a different one for “Non penis holders”.

We could even work out shorthand for such people...

But then those penis havers who want to sit down to wee can go in the non-penis holder section. Equally all the men needing a shit will do the same.
ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:32

I feel like we'll just end up being seen as the phobic older generation who just doesn't 'get it'.

I think you'll find that it's mainly in the UK. I live on the other side of the world and I've never , ever, heard of terms like this except on MN.

To be fair I’m in the U.K. and have never come across these terms in real life. Only on here and in the sun.
romdowa · 13/05/2021 15:37

I genuinely worry about bringing children into the world. I can only imagine the terms that will exist by the time mine is born and in school.

Nonmaquillee · 13/05/2021 15:37

Hi OP - all my kids are teens - aged 12-19...have been having discussions for the last couple of years particularly about how important it is to label the right body parts correctly - they know that only males have penises and only women have vaginas etc..the older ones roll their eyes at the idea of anything being otherwise.

They know that I find the whole thing farcical and yes like a PP I take the piss out of it.

For what it's worth I'm only 22 and 100% agree with what you've said!!

It's a sad day when you get jumped on on SM for referring to women as women and men as men!

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:39

It's not just on here, the NHS website refers to 'people with a cervix' when talking about smear tests as a more widescale example...

OP posts:
PattyPan · 13/05/2021 15:39

Yes, it’s total nonsense. People can come up with whatever gender identity they want for all I care because it’s totally irrelevant to real life - what matters is sex, and there are only two of those, male and female!

justasking111 · 13/05/2021 15:39

Jus t bow out of nutty groups like this and let them crack on.

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:40

Honestly it seems like it's seeping into everything.

As I say, the NHS refers to women and people with a cervix. WOMEN suffices for goodness sake, they are the only ones with a bloody cervix! The fact that something like the NHS is being forced into this crap is scarier too.

Not sure how old the children in question are, but if they're very young this could actually be harmful. Young children don't understand the concept of sex permanence. They don't understand that a person who is a man today has always been a man and always will be a man. I'm not sure how they are supposed to begin to understand sex permanence when they're being expected to believe that their teacher was a man yesterday but is a woman today.
ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:49
