To actually be concerned that my DC will be learning this absolute nonsense

I've been noticing a lot lately on social media, people in the comments referring to 'penis holders', 'chest feeders', 'people with a cervix' etc...

Just reading a thread now on a group I'm in and not a single person is saying the word man or woman (it's a discussion about circumcision and whether it should be banned).

The world has gone fucking mad and I can't stand it. I'm genuinely concerned that my DC are going to grow up thinking this utter nonsense is right.

I feel like the only person who's thinking 'MEN, YOU MEAN FUCKING MEN FOR CHRIST SAKE' as literally everyone on it seems to be buying into this crap.

It's utterly insane.

What about female circumcision?

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 14:47

Sorry the discussion was specifically about routine circumcision of 'penis havers' (so boys!) when they are infants in the US. I'm not part of the conversation but it popped up on my feed and I was reading it.

@Fixitup2 but I think only men can be circumcised

The “procedure” you’re thinking of is female genital mutilation.

Circum meaning around the outside, so should defo only relate to penises/ men.

Otherwise yanbu Op

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/05/2021 14:53

@Fixitup2 - I have seen it said that we shouldn’t talk about female circumcision because that is exclusionary language and makes trans women feel excluded and sad. Because the feelz of privileged westerners matter more than little girls being held down and butchered without anaesthetic.

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 14:54

It's honestly worrying.

I will definitely be doing everything in my power to discourage this way of thinking in my children as they grow up but it seems they are going to be around it a lot.

TwoAndAnOnion · 13/05/2021 14:58

For the love of God, and the thread is tangent already.

The thread isn't about the rights and wrongs of trans- or FGM, it's about ridiculous phrases as descriptors. Which half the time are deliberately meant to be derogatory

Proudboomer · 13/05/2021 14:59

Yesterday I saw an active in The Sun on Katie pPrice posing in her underwear to promoted smear screening.
Even the very unpolitical correct couldn’t bring themselves to say women and called for people with a cervix to get their screening.

Sorry but if you have a cervix then you are a woman.

PineappleCakes · 13/05/2021 15:05

YANBU. To paraphrase a wise poster on a recent FWR thread (sorry! I didn't note the username Blush): if you can't define the sex, you won't see the sexism.

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:05

Sorry but if you have a cervix then you are a woman

Nope, we are 'non penis owners' according to some of the comments 🤦‍♀️

I'd genuinely be upset if any of my kids came home talking like this.

Penis holders? Is this code for wankers?

Nonmaquillee · 13/05/2021 15:10

Keep talking to your DC about it. I do. It's really very important.

And I agree - it's absolute madness.

Fixitup2 · 13/05/2021 15:11

Oh I know FGM isn’t often referred to as circumcision. But I also think male circumcision is genital mutilation.

By the way, it’s total madness. I am a woman as I was born with a cabins. My children are male as they have a penis!

Proudboomer · 13/05/2021 15:11

The world has gone mad. Live your life however you want but don’t try to impose views that goes against scientific fact on the rest of us.
There is no such thing as a lady penis so stop trying to tell us there is.

Igmum · 13/05/2021 15:12

We lose clarity. We exclude heaven knows how many people who are not native speakers or who are not familiar with various biological terms. We lose the ability to name and condemn sexism. It's ludicrous. I can't vote but YADNBU

ParkItRay · 13/05/2021 15:14

What sort of stuff do you say to them out if interest? Mine are too young right now but it's definitely something I want to keep on top of.

I bet there aren't even any books or materials you can use these days at its seen as 'transphobic'... Sigh.

OP posts:
Proudboomer · 13/05/2021 15:15

And I don’t need the word cis in front of woman.
Did anyone ask women if they wanted to be relabelled cis of did a man who who thinks biology is not fact come up with it?

blacksax · 13/05/2021 15:15

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Penis holders? Is this code for wankers?
Yes.
OnlyInYourDreams · 13/05/2021 15:18

Sorry but what kinds of groups are you on that this kind of talk is commonplace.

Yes there are places where such terms apparently exist, but let’s not pretend that it is a society wide thing because it really isn’t.

WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 13/05/2021 15:19

If they labelled toilets for vagina havers only I could be swayed

It was a 'taboo topics' group however I have seen it all over social media, in comment sections of all sorts of things.

I have seen friends sharing things about it too before now. It's certainly not just 'some places' from what I can see.

OP posts:
WoolieLiberal · 13/05/2021 15:24

Hey! I’ve got a great idea!

Now that we have these great new Woke terms, “Penis holders” and “non penis holders”, perhaps we could use them for things like...ooh...I dunno.... public toilets!

We could have one public toilet for “Penis holders” and a different one for “Non penis holders”.

We could even work out shorthand for such people...
