Had this conversation with my husband and kids a while ago... Can't remember their answers but do remember their shock when I said sweetcorn as apparently according to my husband it doesn't count, it's an addition or filler.
So my favourite 3 vegatables (in no order) are
Leeks
Sweetcorn
Broccoli
What's everyone else's and do they agree that sweetcorn /peas are 'fillers'?

OP posts:

(Assuming potatoes aren't allowed)
Peppers
Peas
Do we count tomatoes? If not either leeks or cauliflower.

Pedalpushers · 21/04/2021 21:06

Oh and sweetcorn is nice in very specific circumstances and utterly unwelcome in others. Definite filler food.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 21/04/2021 21:08

Id always have peas or sweetcorn (induvidual) with another veg.

I suppose mine would be -

Corn on the cob
Broccoli
Cauliflower (controversial I know)

AlrightTreacle · 21/04/2021 21:08

Pepper
Lettuce
Cucumber

Lincslady53 · 21/04/2021 21:09

Asparagus, parsnips and brussels.

00100001 · 21/04/2021 21:09

Broccoli
Butternut squash
Red pepper

Iamnotminterested · 21/04/2021 21:10

Cauliflower
Spinach
Onions

I'm also very windy.

3Britnee · 21/04/2021 21:10

Peas
sweetcorn
Salad (can't pick a specific bit).

Operasinger · 21/04/2021 21:10

Cauliflower
Purple sprouting broccoli
Runner beans

FOJN · 21/04/2021 21:11

Difficult to limit it to 3, I like nearly all veg but if I could only have 3 for the rest of my life I suppose it would be carrots, sprouts and broad beans.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 21/04/2021 21:11

If I had to narrow it down to three, maybe peppers, broccoli and aubergine? But then so many dishes need onions, so should I count them? And what about tomatoes.. again, the base of so many meals, but technically a fruit.. 🤔

jupitermars1345 · 21/04/2021 21:11

Broccoli

Parsnips

Peas

Hagqueen · 21/04/2021 21:11

Sweetcorn is not a filler to me, although I wouldn’t include in a roast

Top 3 for me are

Sweetcorn
Brocolli
Peas

Unless sweet potato counts in which case, bump peas off i eat those three most day, usually in a salad or stirfry or just roasted in a tin with a bit of sesame oil/seeds and some parmesan

MagnoliaBeige · 21/04/2021 21:12

Parsnips
Brussel sprouts
Spinach

Chanjer · 21/04/2021 21:12

Snow peas
Raw carrots
Mashed potato

rainbowthoughts · 21/04/2021 21:12

I have never considered this before Grin

Peas
Asparagus
Cucumber

BalancingStick · 21/04/2021 21:12

Broccoli
Aubergine
Peppers

Chanjer · 21/04/2021 21:12

And no sweetcorn is peng, not filler

Popskipiekin · 21/04/2021 21:13

I love sweet flat French beans. Sugar snaps. Sprouts done properly (barely cooked, still crunchy).

Sweet corn - I give to DC as main veg as they will gobble up but yes I think it’s too sweet and not green enough to be a main veg really.
Peas - I think I have these with everything. They’re so easy. They’re a main veg in our house for DC and I reckon if served with eg fish pie then you wouldn’t need another veg.

bluechameleon · 21/04/2021 21:13

Broccoli
Green beans
Asparagus

FrankButchersDickieBow · 21/04/2021 21:13

White cabbage (cooked as cabbage steaks)
Cauliflower- (cooked as cauliflower steak)
Chantenay carrots

Yum

greeneyedlulu · 21/04/2021 21:14

Tenderstem broccoli
Sweetcorn
Green peppers (especially in an omelette)

But then there's spinach and courgettes and rocket and onion and savoy cabbage and sweet potato and... omg I love so much veg... how am I this fat? 🤣

Tisforptarmigan · 21/04/2021 21:15

Sprouts - the only good thing about winter!

Carrots

Peas

Sally2791 · 21/04/2021 21:15

So difficult!
Asparagus
Beans
Beetroot

Sociallydistancedcocktails · 21/04/2021 21:15

Parsnips
Courgettes
Pumpkins

But I do also love
Brussels sprouts
Carrots
Okra
Aubergine (in a baba ghanoush)
