Me and DP are having a debate

We ordered from the local chippy tonight and I think it’s really expensive at 35.00 for 4 cheesy chips,2 savaloys and 2 sausages !

He thinks this is average 😂

I admit I haven’t got chip shop since I was a child when our mum would send us with 5.00 to feed 3 kids !

That is obscene! It works out as, for example. £5 each for cheesy chips and £3.75 for a chipshop sausage? Nothing average about that at all. Did they give you a receipt?

My local chop shop only deals in stolen cars so good that yours does food at all

The price though is way high compared to an actual chip ship

Anyway, I’m with you OP, I’d have expected to pay around £10 for that lot.

Wow. 2 large portions of chips, 2 saveloys, a battered sausage, a medium cod and a pot of curry sauce is about £20 at our chippy.

I'd expect that to come in at less than £20

I get a fish, a scollop and scraps for £3.80, I think fish and chips is about a fiver.

Day light robbery around these parts! I get Fish and chips twice, portion of chips, scallops, curry sauce and D&B for £14 (or thereabouts). Portions are massive too

That would have come to £19 from my chippy.

We got a chippy tonight we got large chips a whole smoked sausage chicken pakora and a 10inch pizza it was 20.60 including delivery

That would come to £15 in my local chippy - £2 each for jumbo sausage, £1.50 each for saveloys, and £2 each for cheesy chips.

3 fish, large sausage, 2 chips is generous for 4 of us. £21.

£20 - £25 here for 4 fish/scampi, 2 (large) portions of chips and 2 portions of mushy peas.

That's extortionate. I wouldn't pay that. About £20 max would be ok!

Extortionate! Sausage £1.50 chips £1.90 fish and chips with a can and a sauce is £7.50

A battered sausage from our village chippy is £1.60. Large chips (enough for 3 in our house) is £2.30. You are expected to add your own cheese up here...

Where do you live for it to cost £35? Are you sure they didn’t make a mistake at the till? It’s a load of fried potatoes with cheese on top and processed sausages. I wouldn’t pay that much if we had fish either.

I've just priced that up on our chippy's menu (nothing better to do on a Saturday night 😆) and it would be £20.90.

I always thought a saveloy was just another word for a sausage - what's the difference? I don't eat sausages so it's never been something I've noticed!

Family meal deal - family chips (massive) then choice of 12 cod chunks or chicken or 20 sausages plus gravey - all for £13

That’s ridiculous! I would not have paid that and I’m not tight at all! That would have been about £12-£15 depending on the chip shop round here!

Even expensive places like the beach I wouldn’t expect to pay more then £20.

Please tell me it at least tasted amazing and was worth it
