I loved a good roast dinner, nothing could beat it... until morning sickness meant I threw one up over Christmas and now I can't so much as look at one!

What's your once beloved food that now makes you want to heave?

Coffee (ok, not a food). Used to love it, couldn't start the day without one. Then I got pregnant and I couldn't even walk past a coffee shop without wanting the heave. Roasting coffee beans smelled exactly like cigarettes. I've never re-gained the love, even 25 years later.

Notapheasantplucker · 11/04/2021 18:44

For exactly the same reason as you - curry! It just reminds me of morning sickness. And not only did I just do it once, I tried to eat it again during my next 2 pregnancies and did exactly the same thing. Now the smell of it just goes through me 🤢

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 11/04/2021 18:45

Broccoli. Used to eat it almost every day, too! Probably had Covid (prior to testing being available) and lost my sense of taste for a couple of weeks, and since then it tastes foul to me. The same also for a packet mix of falafel I used to eat regularly - I think it’s the coriander which tastes so awful to me now.

Sandwich Spread..used to love it until someone on here called it pickled vomit, never eaten it since

BlackCatShadow · 11/04/2021 18:48

There's an amazing donut shop in my town and I really loved the donuts until a friend told me they were cooked in lard. I'm vegetarian and I just assumed they were ok and never actually checked. They were really yummy though.

Theunamedcat · 11/04/2021 18:49

Corn flakes thanks to my family keeping milk thats "just turning" and making my breakfast with it I hurled on them never been able to eat them since

1Morewineplease · 11/04/2021 18:49

Another one who cannot stand coffee, not even the smell of it.
Went to Germany when I was 17 and , although I used to love coffee, I got put off it whilst there as it was always far too strong.
Not a drop since in 40 years.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 11/04/2021 18:49

Sushi.
Im on a very restricted diet and it's my only take away option. Used to love it. Absolutely sick of it now.

rookiemere · 11/04/2021 18:50

I've really gone off most cooked fish since lockdown as DH buys cheap whole salmon from the supermarket and microwaves it so the kitchen absolutely stinks.
I'd probably be ok with ordering it at a restaurant though.

Hoppinggreen · 11/04/2021 18:51

Chicken on the bone
Used to love crispy skinned chicken legs or my own version of KFC.
Then I got food poisoning after eating chicken drumsticks (I think, although DH was fine). I was really really ill for 48 hours and could only eat toast and Jacket potatoes for around a week afterwards
That was 3 years ago and I still can’t eat chicken on the bone

SnuggleWuggle · 11/04/2021 18:51

Cheesecake... went off it when pregnant and sickie... even the thought of it now makes me icky. Which makes me sad as I loved cheesecake

FelicityPike · 11/04/2021 18:51

Chocolate! Stupid bloody debilitating migraines. 😢😢

Justajot · 11/04/2021 18:51

Pate. I read the nutritional information on it. I'm not particularly into healthy eating, but I couldn't get over the % fat.

likeamillpond · 11/04/2021 18:53

Yoghurt.

Used to love it until someone on here called it
Cow Juice.
I suppose it is. Slightly thick cow juice.Envy
It's ruined it for me.

alibongo5 · 11/04/2021 18:53

Jersey Royals. When I was a kid they were absolutely gorgeous and melted in the mouth. Now they're nothing like the same and I've given up buying them.

Same is true for tomatoes and strawberries too - supermarket ones anyway, all tasteless compared to home grown ones or those bought in the past.

Maggie900 · 11/04/2021 18:53

Eggs, used to absolutely love them but then I thought a little deeper about what they actually are and I cannot bare to eat them now.

I have tried on several occasions to eat them in the last 10 years and actually physically thrown up so no eggs for me.

Longdistance · 11/04/2021 18:55

Dried figs. Used love them as a sweet treat. I bought some to help with my constipation in the last week of my pregnancy, had a few and then discovered it had maggots 🤮 in it. I had my contractions that night, dd1 was born the next day. Haven’t eaten them since. Thanks Asda!

candlemasbells · 11/04/2021 18:55

spinach used to love it until I was pregnant. I cant face meat when Im breast feeding either.

candlemasbells · 11/04/2021 18:57

I did have a bit of a problem with sausages after watching Dan Snow in a filthy cities episode washing out the natural casings. It was a few weeks before I stopped peeling sausages!

VeryQuaintIrene · 11/04/2021 18:57

All sorts of fast food, before I read "Fast Food Nation". Though in this case, it was a really good thing!

thenonsensepotter · 11/04/2021 18:57

Churros!
We went to Chiquitos and I had the jackfruit burrito and churros for desert. I hated the jackfruit so no chance of me trying that again, burritos I used to enjoy but something in the meal must have been off because I had absolutely horrendous food poisoning. Can't even look at them now without my stomach turning.

Summergarden · 11/04/2021 18:58

I used to really enjoy eating Subway sandwiches for lunches once a week.

But a couple of months ago our whole family got one each on a Saturday and DS found a very long hair in his.

Put me off them completely!

Marmite27 · 11/04/2021 18:58

McChicken sandwiches. Smell exactly like breastfed baby dirty nappies. Envy

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 11/04/2021 18:59

I loved the film The Lost Boys (this was long before the tragic story of the two Coreys ever made the news). I would also admit that the Star character was responsible for many a hideous skirt and jacket in my wardrobe. But I digress.

I've never been able to look at a Chinese takeaway in the same way since. 'They're only noodles, Michael ...' 🤮
