I loved a good roast dinner, nothing could beat it... until morning sickness meant I threw one up over Christmas and now I can't so much as look at one!

What's your once beloved food that now makes you want to heave?

Blue cheese, well any cheese since the time it gave me a migraine that emptied me out. I don't mind a bit of emmental or gouda but any pungent or melty cheese just revolts me, now.

bananamonkey · 11/04/2021 19:04

Cured meats, really gone off them since my last pregnancy. Don’t know why as I’ve never had morning sickness.

Pralines,my favourite chocolate, ate way too many at Christmas at they’ve lost their appeal.

Eyevorbig0ne · 11/04/2021 19:05

Most chocolate
Pringles. They smell like soft play or when you're on a plane when all the blokes take their shoes off.

gwenneh · 11/04/2021 19:05

There's a particular brand of frozen pizza, BBQ chicken with a sweet potato crust and they are absolutely delicious.

Unfortunately the last time I ate one was just before I had a bad bout of stomach flu and I have not been able to eat one since.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 11/04/2021 19:07

Taramasolata. Used to love it ... can't think why! Nothing in particular has put me off it, but now I just think ewww.

FiveGs · 11/04/2021 19:07

Fizzy pop. With all the sweetners that have replaced sugar now, my rare hangover treat is not the same. Angry

katy1213 · 11/04/2021 19:08

Trifle. Used to love it and now manage a spoonful to be polite - if forced.
And tinned salmon sandwiches.

Fringeblack · 11/04/2021 19:13

Cream puff type pastries.
I used to live near a shop that made them and I would regularly buy them.
Had a dodgy one, and was ill for days.
I can’t even look at cream cakes or pastries anymore.
Wish the same would happen with chocolate.

TheHamsterCatcher · 11/04/2021 19:15

Spaghetti hoops.

Many years ago, as a student, these were ruined for me by the mother of all hangovers.
I probably have generally more grown up tastes now and wouldn't like them much anyway... But oh how I miss spaghetti hoops on toast!

HarkAVagrant · 11/04/2021 19:17

Oysters. Been sick three times after oysters, I love them but can no longer eat them.

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 11/04/2021 19:19

Not really food but got hammered and threw up about a million times yhe one and only time I drank Jack Daniels as a 16yr old and have never drank it since. Even the smell grosses me out.

Wotsnewpussycat · 11/04/2021 19:19

Fish and chips- threw up after eating it once and now can't go near it!

MrsBennetsnerves · 11/04/2021 19:20

It's happened twice with different foods and in both cases I'm over my aversion. I wouldn't call either favourites as such. One was mushrooms after I had mushroom stroganoff on an extremely rough ferry crossing and threw it all up. The other was frozen spinach after I discovered a rather large cockroach in a block as I was defrosting it.

Spied · 11/04/2021 19:21

Eggs. A bloody yolk put me right off.
Pasta 'n' sauce. Macaroni cheese variety- ate the full packet quickly and felt so nauseous I've never bought another despite it being really nice at the time.

Skigal86 · 11/04/2021 19:22

Cheese - as a toddler I couldn’t get enough of it, the smellier the better, my grandparents had cheese and crackers on the table for after lunch every day and they had to cover it up because I wouldn’t eat my lunch if I could see it. Then about the age of two or three I realised my dad didn’t eat it and I stopped eating it! I’ll have it melted or cooked in sauces but not on it’s own, the thought of putting a piece of cheese in my mouth turns my stomach.

isseys4xmastinselcats · 11/04/2021 19:23

duck i love duck but it dosent like me as ive got older its too rich for me now
prawns after i found out where they live and what they live on

WillYouDoTheFandango · 11/04/2021 19:24

I can’t eat anything from the Chinese at the moment. Back in October whilst low carbing I ate something very MSGy from the Chinese and projectile vomited and had the worst diarrhoea of my life for 12 hours. Pretty much non stop without a break. I can’t even look at sat and pepper chicken now.

Although it’s not looking good, I live in hope it’s just a phase as we have the best Chinese chippy at the end of our road. The owner lives 2 doors down and always gives us free stuff too.

SunnyLovesCassie · 11/04/2021 19:26

Since I was pregnant I cannot stand salad, especially tomatoes, in sandwiches or on burgers etc. It's fine on its own.

HouseOfRunners · 11/04/2021 19:26

@thenightsky exactly the same for me with coffee! My friends think I’m winding them up when I say coffee shops smell like ashtrays 😄

IsAnybodyListening · 11/04/2021 19:28

MarieIVanArkleStinks

Same! Even now if I am watching say an American series/film and the actors are casually eating from those carton things, my insides are screaming IT'S WORMS...

Thankfully I can still eat noodles after I have checked they are indeed noodles.

Glittertwins · 11/04/2021 19:29

Covent Garden carrot soup. Used to love it until pregnant and horrendous HG took over. Blowing grated carrot out of my nose was not an experience I wish to ever repeat.
Rice pudding is another one, I apparently loved it until it was made with the wrong milk (condensed/evaporated or vice versa) and haven't touched it in over 45 years now!!

HandyBendySandy · 11/04/2021 19:30

Ah yes @FelicityPike, same here. I do of course still eat it because I'm a greedy bastard, but there is about a 75% of a horrible migraine with accompanying depression the next day. So I have to plan my chocolate consumption carefully - or indulge in something else.

I also no longer eat eggs or salmon, after a fresh salmon sandwich made in a filthy, cat and rare bird infested kitchen (which I was powerless to refuse) gave me an awful bout of what I believe to have been giardia with accompanying sulphurous /eggy burps. Had attacks on and off for years.

JeanneDoe · 11/04/2021 19:32

Maltesers. Took a box to the theatre a few years back. Came home, got the norovirus and haven’t eaten one since

TrainTraining · 11/04/2021 19:35

This isn't actually a food but something I made up which my lovely mum cooked for me. Very early pregnancy I wanted a dish with roasted chicken pieces in a cheese sauce with broccoli and potato. I was convinced this would cure my morning sickness. Then week 7 hit and I couldn't move off the sofa, the freezer became my arch nemesis as it absolutely stank (it didn't) and the whole thought of eating this creation made me sick with a headache. I have since forgiven the freezer and I can now eat cheese sauce.... Just. But the whole thought of that dish brings back that feeling in my throat that only morning sickness conjures.

WoolieLiberal · 11/04/2021 19:35

Chocolate mousse.

I used to love it as a kid until I found out what gelatine was.
