I loved a good roast dinner, nothing could beat it... until morning sickness meant I threw one up over Christmas and now I can't so much as look at one!

What's your once beloved food that now makes you want to heave?

Pot noodles for me. I loved them all until a colleague had one for lunch while I had bad morning sickness with DS2, now I can't stand the smell of them.

Unfortunately DS2 (when a little older) loved them for a while, but the smell just turned my stomach. 🤢

Elderflower14 · 11/04/2021 22:25

I've had a late onset allergy to prawns... 😔 😔 😔 😔
Love them but they give me akin to a massive hangover the next morning!

Cowbells · 11/04/2021 22:33

Black pepper - I've loved it and put it on all food since I was in my teens. But a few weeks ago DH made a black pepper tofu dish that was so disgusting I almost gagged. Not been able to touch black pepper since then, after forty years of it.

badacorn · 11/04/2021 22:41

Fish- I started eating one then realised it was really crawling with worms. Well, the worms had been killed by the heat of cooking but still, disgusting.

Most seafood - food poisoning every other time I order it

Crispy duck was my favourite treat from the takeaway until we got one which was rancid. It pissed me off because you could see bits of it has obviously gone green so I think they were just hoping they’d get away with it.

Tistheseason17 · 11/04/2021 22:43

Corned beef hash - read what was in corned beef and the amount of fat on it when you take it out the tin 🤮

Scallops - so bloody yummy - did not know I was allergic until I had to 💩 and 🤢 simultaneously- never again.

MrsSnitchnose · 11/04/2021 22:45

Greggs sausage rolls. They were never a fancy yummy thing but I did like one now and again. That was until I got food poisoning off one. I was so ill I passed out on the bathroom floor and couldn't hold anything solid down for three days. That was about 8 years ago and I haven't eaten one since. Just the smell is enough to make me heave

NamechangeApril21 · 11/04/2021 22:45

Any kind of dilute juice for the same reason

Namaste6 · 11/04/2021 22:49

Crispy aromatic duck. Used to love it. Can't stand the smell of it now, let alone the taste. Went off meat for a while - back on chicken and fish but can't bring myself to eat any other meat, especially duck.

WarmSausageTea · 11/04/2021 22:56

Another one for Southern Comfort. Overdid it in 1982, haven’t touched a drop since, and couldn’t even bear the smell of it for many years.

MamaWeasel · 11/04/2021 23:07

Tea Envythe smell of it makes me gag. Apparently I loved tea up until I was about 3, when I pulled a tray of scalding tea all over myself. I have no scars, but I've never been able to stomach the smell of tea since.

thenightsky · 11/04/2021 23:20

@HardcoreParkour

Bourbon Biscuits! I OD'd on a triple pack years ago, was sick as a dog and have never been able to look at one since 🙈
I did that on a school trip to the Lake District. For some reason my mum interpreted 'provide your chid with a packed lunch' as 'chuck a triple pack of cheap biscuits into your child's back pack',
bearfood · 11/04/2021 23:24

@Marmite27 totally agree! McChicken Sandwiches have always turned my stomach when I smell them but I couldn't think why. Now I know!

Iggly · 11/04/2021 23:26

Chickpeas. I’d have them in curries, salads with feta. Delicious.

Until, one day, I opened a tin and happened to spot a dead beetle inside the skin of a chickpea. I can’t eat them ever again.

Jaxhog · 11/04/2021 23:28

Wine. When I was diagnosed with Diabetes I was advised to stop drinking alcohol and went totally Tee Total for 6 or 7 years. Then I had a sip and it tasted vile! The occasional gin is still ok though.

Dyra · 11/04/2021 23:31

Paella. Or at least my own version of it. As with many people "morning" sickness got the better of me after I'd eaten a plateful. Haven't been able to face making it since. It took a while before I could face eating anything with smoked paprika in it.

There was another incident with pineapple upside down cake. Fortunately my love for it has far exceeded the memory of that awful day, and I can eat it again.

Gobbeldegook · 11/04/2021 23:34

Liver until I realized what it was 🤮

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 11/04/2021 23:36

@Maggie900

Eggs, used to absolutely love them but then I thought a little deeper about what they actually are and I cannot bare to eat them now.

I have tried on several occasions to eat them in the last 10 years and actually physically thrown up so no eggs for me.

Same here. I was vegan for a few years and due to lack of options when travelling I started eating vegetarian cheese & having things with milk/cream, but I cannot eat eggs.
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 11/04/2021 23:36

Cadburys cream eggs - loved them as a child/teenager

bought one in Tesco's the other day (reduced post-Easter) It was VILE - so sweet, never again.
Lindt mini eggs on the other hand...

MumofSpud · 11/04/2021 23:37

Liquorice Allsorts - they give me a migraine Confused

Smokeahontas · 11/04/2021 23:39

Apple with peanut butter. The last time I had it, I was violently ill shortly after eating it. I know it was absolutely not related, but even the thought makes be nauseous.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 11/04/2021 23:43

Porridge. I ate that much as a small child the thought of eating makes me 🤢

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 11/04/2021 23:45

KFC

I absolutely love it but ive had campylobactor (sp?) TWICE a few days after having had it.

Sworn off for life now

DietrichandDiMaggio · 11/04/2021 23:50

Not actually something that I loved, but ever since I found out about the wasps in figs I can't even think of eating them.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 11/04/2021 23:53

Similarly to the poster upthread, the first time I got properly drunk was as a 15 year old, and involved a bottle of Bacardi. I’m now nearly 40, and the smell still makes me feel queasy Envy
I also didn’t eat lettuce for about a year after having dc3, I was sick everyday for the whole pregnancy, but that was one of the nastiest things coming back up Envy I still rarely eat iceberg!

MrsAvocet · 12/04/2021 00:04

Until the last couple of weeks I was verging on obsessed with Arla Skyr Sour Cherry. But they've changed the recipe and ruined it. It used to have a layer of fruit on the bottom and the Skyr on top. Now its all mixed in and tastes like a cheap black cherry yoghurt but costs twice the price. I'm very upset!
