To find this Easter vaguely depressing?

Not a big fan of Easter anyway since I'm not religious but I feel like the whole fact of it just seems a bit depressing - could be because at Christmas I'd expected things would be somehow much more normal by now. Also seems too early. Anyone else?

We’re a bit the same here, would usually go away for a few days at Easter. Think we’re just fed up !

daisiesinmay · 01/04/2021 17:16

Yes not being able to go anywhere - I mean we can do days out now in theory but with no shops or nothing open

the80sweregreat · 01/04/2021 17:18

Yes, it's not the same is it?
Feels bleak this year.

LadyCatStark · 01/04/2021 17:22

No, it’s bloody lovely. The sun is shining and we can meet up with people outdoors. That’s enough for me!

Mary46 · 01/04/2021 17:24

Yeh bit crappy. Sick same parks now! Coffees in car as cafes are takeaway.

Whatalottachocca · 01/04/2021 17:33

We have friends coming for lunch in the garden. I’m so excited!

PradaBallbag · 01/04/2021 17:35

I just said to my husband that I'm finding it depressing that it's the second Easter where we've been unable to do anything. Normally at this point I'd be excited at the prospect of 4 days off work ahead of me. Now I'm just 'meh'

catsandchaos · 01/04/2021 17:46

Yes. No swimming pools/ cinema / eating out/ trampoline park. All the things that would normally keep my teen busy

MarshaBradyo · 01/04/2021 17:51

Getting better so I’ll take that

AnyFucker · 01/04/2021 17:52

Lunch in the garden when it’s 8 degrees ?

No thanks. I am feeling very flat at the prospect of the second Easter ruined.

Imissmoominmama · 01/04/2021 17:54

We usually go skiing at Easter, and of course I’ll be missing that for the second year, but I’m just happy that the sun is shining and my walking group has started up again. I had lunch in a friend’s garden today- it felt like such a treat!

Whatalottachocca · 01/04/2021 17:56

@AnyFucker I take your point but it’s set to be warmer where we are and we’re lighting our firepit 😉

Evenstar · 01/04/2021 18:02

Feeling a bit glum here, we have now had last Easter, Christmas and this Easter without our four adult children being able to visit due to COVID restrictions and being too far to visit without staying over. Just us and youngest teen DS again

Pleased for people who can see family with the latest easing, but it makes no difference for us, and due to the timing of the next easing we are only getting 4 days of a week away we had managed to book. We are grateful even for that, but it doesn’t seem that reasonable when it’s just the 3 of us again ☹️

the80sweregreat · 01/04/2021 18:05

I'm fed up with it all like everyone else.
Gardens will be cold and horrible this time of year. It's all shitty really :(

Mummadeze · 01/04/2021 18:05

I am excited because a) I have time off work b) am going to play mini golf with friends tomorrow which is allowed c) am also playing tennis d) I can spend time with my DD and have an excuse to eat chocolate. Definitely feels more exciting than usual!

Mojoj · 01/04/2021 18:13

Can't believe how law abiding you all are! Seriously? You have stuck religiously to the rules? Before anyone trots out the usual "we're all going to die", "you'll kill your granny" etc etc., I had Covid in March 2020. I was pretty ill for two weeks and then very weak for another two and then, amazingly, I was fine. This will be the case for the vast majority of people who catch this virus. Both my kids had it too and were neither up nor down. Now, having been vaccinated, me and my other vaccinated pals are all getting together on Saturday, in my house no less, to get drunk and stupid and I can't wait!!

Itsalonghaul · 01/04/2021 18:15

We are usually on holiday for Easter, and I am really missing going to new places. I am worried about the cold weather next week, as we will have even less to do. However absolutely love this gorgeous weather, heat, bird song and flowers and blossom everywhere. Looking forward to a chilly lunch with family outside on Sunday. I have such low expectations these days, I am even prepared for that to be called off. No longer disappointed endlessly.

Trying to keep teens entertained all week now they are on holiday hasn't been easy with everything closed, no energy or wish to do things at home anymore thats for sure.

Craving excitement....

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 01/04/2021 18:19

We are Christians and usually go to an outdoor service on Good Friday and normal church on Easter Sunday. Church will be online again, but we will miss actually meeting up with people.

MissSmith80 · 01/04/2021 18:23

I'm so excited to have a 4 day weekend having had a 3 day weekend last week. I couldn't quite twig why that thrills me so much and I've just realised that this is the longest break I've had in a year - NHS worker in a Covid specific role, only working 3 days out of 10 after the year I've had is going to be amazing. Supermarket delivery has just arrived with lots of chocolate and booze plus my amazing 2 year old providing entertainment. I do appreciate for a lot of folks this is another weekend like most others I've this year (crap) but twice as long

LindaEllen · 01/04/2021 18:34

No. Decent weather, garden meet-ups, Easter egg hunts with the kids. Sorted.

Lulu1919 · 01/04/2021 18:36

Yes
We would normally do a few days away too
Yes we can do a day out...but not like we can book a nice pub lunch ....or even a coffee n cake ...
I work in a school so I'm off in the school hols not when I choose ( unpaid before anyone moans cos I have so much time off )
Smile

MirandaMarple · 01/04/2021 18:40

Walking my dogs will be insufferable this weekend, even more so than the last year.

The sooner everyone is in beer gardens/restaurants/holiday camps the better!

1AngelicFruitCake · 01/04/2021 18:41

No I think it’s lovely and probably appreciate it all more this year. Sun shining, get to meet people outside. The Easter I’m having this year, I would have been really fed up and think it was rubbish but after all the lockdowns, I’m so much more grateful!

MercyBooth · 01/04/2021 18:44

Well ive not yet been conditioned into being grateful for scraps so im with you OP.

Itsalonghaul · 01/04/2021 18:46

Is anyone else feeling tired at the thought of Easter lunch, decorating and all the rest?

I used to be so spritely, but I feel absolutely knackered after months of lockdown and homeschooling. I want to invite my friends over, but have zero energy to provide for them...anyone else seriously in need of a holiday not Easter?!!
