I know there are much bigger problems in the world right now, but I need to rant about this.

Every time I look on their website, at any type of product, it’s never in stock at any stores for collection and is definitely never available for delivery! We live in the East Midlands, we’re surrounded by stores but they never seem to have anything in them! Is it just me they don’t want to sell things to!? What the fuck is going on with them?

I guess it's covid or the ports issues, but this is also driving me mad, especially as I can't see an option to filter it so it only shows me things are in stock for delivery to me. Also, it forgets my postcode every single time I search. Tedious! I loved their delivery service before the pandemic, but I've not had anything from there in about a year.

ItsGoingTibiaK · 31/03/2021 19:40

Argos has always been like this. At least nowadays you don’t have to trek down there, look through the laminated catalogue, use the stubby little pen to write down the code and then queue up to be told, “Sorry, not in stock.”

Lambside · 31/03/2021 19:40

YABU! Everything is in a container on a ship in the Suez Canal!

tnetenba · 31/03/2021 19:41

I don't understand why they still stick to this method of selling. You'd expect them to be moving to centralised warehouses so you can buy anything from them for collection where you like.

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 31/03/2021 19:41

Absolutely! Nothing I've seen online is available is available to deliver to my postcode ( a major UK city)
I know COVID is causing issues but no other company seems as badly affected, I've bought from IKEA, Next, DFS amongst others without too much issue.

Happycat1212 · 31/03/2021 19:42

Must just be me then as I’ve never had a problem with things not being in stock and I get things delivered all the time

Sciurus83 · 31/03/2021 19:43

Ye gods YANBU! And why can't you filter out not in stock/not in your local store without having to click through to each product only to find you can't actually have it because it's only in stock 300 miles away!! Hateful.

KittyWoods · 31/03/2021 19:43

I've sometimes had this with toys at Xmas or sale items but it's not normally like that. Just today I went in for something and came out with it. No stock issues.

GravityFalls · 31/03/2021 19:43

The annoying thing is it seems like you have this great choice of products but of maybe ten online, nine are out of stock, one is pick up only, and you have to faff about for ages before you even find that out.

Lbnc2021 · 31/03/2021 19:43

I live in the largest town in Scotland and even before covid they could never deliver anything to me. Shame because I used to use Argos a lot but now I don’t bother.

lotionInTheBasket · 31/03/2021 19:43

I found IKEA just as bad - spent an evening merrily putting things into a basket to justify a delivery charge (when really I only wanted a kids table and chairs set) only to get to the end and discover only photo frames were in stock out of my whole order! Waste of an evening Angry

cataclysmiclife · 31/03/2021 19:45

Oh yes this drives me mad with Argos- waste of time Angry

dementedpixie · 31/03/2021 19:45

Argos is definitely worse than it used to be

Nightfeedwatcher · 31/03/2021 19:46

Yes I said this the other day, what’s the point in it?! It’s so frustrating to look through a website of things you can’t actually get!

Ratched · 31/03/2021 19:46

Yep. Loved Argos with the click and collect, but dont even bother looking now.
Its always out of stock for my area.
I knoe I am only one person, but I cheerfully spent £££££ with them every year, switched to Amazon and Etsy.
So sad.

Ratched · 31/03/2021 19:47

*know!!!!

whiskersonkittenss · 31/03/2021 19:47

Yes. Last month I looked through and out of about 20 things I was interested in, only one was available for collection anywhere near me. I wouldn't bother again

Nicknacky · 31/03/2021 19:48

I’ve given up with argos if I need something fairly quickly. They closed the large branch in our town and are now in sainsbury so you can never go just pick something up now.

And I hate that it doesn’t show something is out of stock until you put it in your basket!

MoscowMuse · 31/03/2021 19:49

I think Argos has got loads worse since they closed the stand alone stores and only have the stores in Sainsburys. I dont bother looking even looking at their website anymore. Such a shame as their same day delivery service used to be great.

Ilovemaisie · 31/03/2021 19:56

I have bought loads from them during the year of lockdown and mostly not had any problems.
Although I live in London so if branch A doesn't have it in stock I can easily get to branch B or C which is a couple of miles down the road.
The PP who said why don't they just have a central warehouse - they kinda mostly do. The bigger branches hold stock of the most popular stuff but a lot will be sent from the warehouses direct when you order it.
I love Argos !

ufucoffee · 31/03/2021 19:57

Just today I ordered four things to pick up. All in stock.

Ellpellwood · 31/03/2021 19:59

We still have a stand-alone store! A big one. They normally do have stock unless it's sale toys. Unfortunately though, if you discover an item is good value there, everyone else who doesn't want to wait for Amazon to deliver has discovered it too.

BeautyQueenIamNot · 31/03/2021 20:01

Absolutely nothing ever in stock when I look 🤷‍♀️ That’s all the stores in a 50 mile radius I don’t even bother looking anymore

Happycat1212 · 31/03/2021 20:01

Must depend where you live, I’m another in London and have no trouble and we still have stand alone Argos as well.

TurquoiseDragon · 31/03/2021 20:03

Same here. I'm East Mids.
