I know there are much bigger problems in the world right now, but I need to rant about this.

Every time I look on their website, at any type of product, it’s never in stock at any stores for collection and is definitely never available for delivery! We live in the East Midlands, we’re surrounded by stores but they never seem to have anything in them! Is it just me they don’t want to sell things to!? What the fuck is going on with them?

Agreed it's wank! And not great but may help some of you...use the app, so much better then the website (on apple at least)
You enter your postcode and chosen store and then when you search items you can see in the search if it's in stock for collection from your chosen store or for delivery to you. See pics

I think I read somewhere there's a big shortage of patio sets this year.

I've been looking for a small bistro set and they are all incredibly expensive or ugly or out of stock.

TokyoSushi · 31/03/2021 20:56

I was going to start a thread about this a while ago, it's basically a website full of items they haven't got, it drives me insane! But just one time you'll get lucky and they deliver 2 minutes from my house by 9am the next morning, for free, and that what keeps me looking at a website, where 95% of things are out of bloody stock!! Argh!

CanIHaveAHolidayPlease · 31/03/2021 20:56

The service at Argos is awful since they've moved into Sainsburys. It was always my 'go to' shop as it was so reliable. These days the app tells you your item is only available for pick up a week on Wednesday from a store 200 miles away. Rubbish!!!

wouldukissafrog · 31/03/2021 20:56

Been looking at a shorty bed for DD for months, it's never available for delivery, so frustrating

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 31/03/2021 20:59

I still do buy quite a lot from Argos because I’m in London and have the choice of four stores within easy walking distance and another fifty within a quick tube ride, but I agree that I have to scroll through far too many things that aren’t actually available in order to get them, and the app could be much better at letting you filter out everything that’s not actually available for delivery or within fifty miles.

Trying to get a phone for DD at the moment and it’s a nightmare to work out whether something is actually available if I have a bit of a scoot around or whether it’s actually fictional. Especially if it’s available in four different colours which I have to search for individually. I don’t sodding care! Just tell me whether any of them exists?

CathyorClaire · 31/03/2021 20:59

Yes. Apparently patio sets are like hen's teeth ATM.

Probably the reason Argos have now bumped the price of the one I've got by a tenner while still leaving the moon as the nearest available store

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 31/03/2021 21:00

Patio sets OTOH do not actually exist anywhere.

Lemons1571 · 31/03/2021 21:03

Our Argos in Sainsbury’s went like this during the first lockdown. Hasn’t improved since. Must be a covid supply thing. Black Friday consisted of no tv’s or laptops under about a grand.

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 31/03/2021 21:04

Argos have gone down the shitter since they abandoned their book of dreams last year.
Nothing is in stock, it has to be ordered in for next day if you're incredibly lucky or you have to drive bloody miles to get it during a "keep local" lockdown 🤦🏻‍♀️🤬

Astridium · 31/03/2021 21:05

Drives me insane that things are not available for home delivery and not available in any store across the country. If this is the case why is it still on the fecking website?

CathyorClaire · 31/03/2021 21:05

My newly purchased with blood and sweat bistro sets are nestling under their cut price Amazon cover (in stock and delivered the next day) as I type.

Damn things had better last...

AnExcellentWalker · 31/03/2021 21:06

I thought it was just me!!!
Had this since the start of the 1st lockdown, everything I've tried to order from Argos is either out of stock, delivery only BUT unavailable for delivery to my postcode or collect only BUT not available in any stores!!!

Me too - we literally moved house a fortnight before the first lockdown, we were on bare concrete floors, cooking food on single hotplate or in the Instant Pot because we had no oven, keeping the milk cold in a sinkfull of cold water because we'd no fridge freezer. Could we hell get anything from Argos over the last year. Anything marked Collect Only isn't in any local stores, & anything marked Delivery Only isn't available for delivery. I can only assume they don't want anyone to spend money there... we bought everything elsewhere in the end.

We haven't bought any shelves, bathroom mirrors etc yet, as it's a new build & needs the 1 year check which will finally be done in a few weeks. Guess where we're not bothering to buy from, as nothing will be in stock. More trouble than it's worth even to look, TBH, as you can't tell stock levels until you check out.

coronafiona · 31/03/2021 21:07

I have given up on them. It's pants.

MummytoCSJH · 31/03/2021 21:08

I know what you mean, as PPs have mentioned it wouldn't be a problem if you could filter by your postcode and in stock nearby/local store/for delivery. It's so frustrating having to go through every item, finally finding the perfect one and it's not available!

itsgettingwierd · 31/03/2021 21:09

I also get this. Every single thing in the sale I've looked into is unavailable for delivery to my area. And unavailable for collection within 50 miles.

Or worse still delivery only - but not to where you live!

GravityFalls · 31/03/2021 21:19

I can’t remember the last time I managed to buy a sale item from them. Argos really did used to to be my first (and often only) stop for all sorts of household stuff. You usually couldn’t beat the prices either. Their delivery has always been a bit shaky but that was OK when you knew you could basically furnish a house from there in one go. But they’ve got worse and worse. It’s disappointing. I’d like to shop there!

PraiseTheSunshine · 31/03/2021 21:27

I literally said this exact thing to my dh today. Nothing is ever in stock, it's not a lockdown supply issue either I don't think because it was the same before.

Puffinhead · 31/03/2021 21:36

Yep, had a painful experience last night trying to buy garden furniture... was the same last year too. Habitat is particularly annoying too as it shows that you can buy it online but then directs you to Argo, where it’s out of stock.

chocolateorangeinhaler · 31/03/2021 21:41

They have always been like this. Only ever having one or two of whatever item in stock. I guess that it because keeping a catalogue of stock takes a ton of space and money.
Their current click and collect only policy is crazy. Inside a sainsburys yet still have thus policy. Anyone know why?

waitinforamiricle · 31/03/2021 21:44

Argos is terrible I'd love to see wats actually in the stock room lol

worriedatthemoment · 31/03/2021 21:57

Agree have been able to order one thing in about 50 lately and some things i have ben trying for weeks and still never in or even in a large radius

@ItsGoingTibiaK

Argos has always been like this. At least nowadays you don’t have to trek down there, look through the laminated catalogue, use the stubby little pen to write down the code and then queue up to be told, “Sorry, not in stock.”
Or you could look on the internet first, and reserve the item. This isn't 1997. You have the internet so why not reserve it first? Confused

Having said that... I agree with the OP @GoryGilmore I found Argos THE best 'go-to' place for most stuff. But this past year and a half it's been a bit shit.

My friend in my street, has been looking in Argos, for an ordinary laptop (under £450,) for the past 3 months. Not a bloody cloudbook or a chromebook; a PROPER laptop, with 1 TB of memory, (and not the shitty 64 GB they keep trying to palm off onto her.)

Half of that is the operating system, and they say you need to save everything online. Trying to get an ordinary laptop at Argos is like trying to plait fog. Not ONE this year. Plenty of naffing 'cloudbooks' and 'chromebooks' but no actual laptops... (unless they are £650+, and even they are hard to come by... with the closest one being an hour's drive away!)

There does seem to be lots of stuff that is advertised, and yet when you look online in your local store, it says 'out of stock... prepared to drive further? Look at other stores...' You can look at all the Argos stores within 300 miles, and no store has it in. Why fucking advertise it then!? Angry

Argos has gone to shit for sure. The stock levels/supply is wank. And as many posters have said, it's not a covid/lockdown issue, because it was going to shit in 2019.
