I know there are much bigger problems in the world right now, but I need to rant about this.

Every time I look on their website, at any type of product, it’s never in stock at any stores for collection and is definitely never available for delivery! We live in the East Midlands, we’re surrounded by stores but they never seem to have anything in them! Is it just me they don’t want to sell things to!? What the fuck is going on with them?

Things are always in stock for me!! Grin

WrongKindOfFace · 31/03/2021 22:30

I’m glad it’s not just me. It is infuriating not being find out what’s in stock without clicking on every, single item. And then nothing is in bloody stock.

hedgehogger1 · 31/03/2021 22:31

It's been like that for years. I don't even bother trying any more

melj1213 · 31/03/2021 22:48

I have had the rage with Argos recently - I bought a book case from them a few weeks ago and wanted to buy another smaller one from the same range but I cannot get it for love nor money.

They aren't in stock in my store and arent available for delivery to my postcode ... and if I do want to click and collect from store the only option is 350 miles away!

Fair enough that it isn't in stock in store, they can't hold everything in every store, but why on earth is there not a way for me to order it (since it is in stock to c&c 350 miles away, Argos has some stock of them) and either have it delivered from a central warehouse either to my local store/my home? Every other company manages to have a click and collect service that allows you to order any item for delivery to any place, rather than just limiting you to items that they have decided to make available to certain areas, why can't Argos?

Bluebird2021 · 31/03/2021 22:51

our company currently has 620 containers stuck in Suez. we have tried to source new suppliers but some are just too shoddy and poor quality and others can't provide the volume

not sure why people expect 'normality' when supply chains have been seriously disrupted

no, every other company certainly does not have the ability to move stock about like you request. our click/collect stopped getting items in at the beginning of covid

why put people at risk for a bookcase?

Nicknacky · 31/03/2021 22:54

It has nothing to do with Suez Canal. It’s been a lot longer than that!

ZenNudist · 31/03/2021 22:55

YANBU you see something, it's a good price but not in stock and can't deliver. I live in a major UK city. I just don't bother now.

anon12345678901 · 31/03/2021 22:55

@Astridium

Drives me insane that things are not available for home delivery and not available in any store across the country. If this is the case why is it still on the fecking website?
Yeah I don't understand why they don't take it off. I spent ages before clicking for laptops to find the ones that fit my requirements were all out of stock for delivery and stores. 🤦🏻‍♀️
RMRM · 31/03/2021 22:57

I really want to buy from them as well, I just need their website to only show me what I can actually buy. Hours I've wasted looking through.

Sarjest · 31/03/2021 22:58

Even before The Suez build up it was very hit and miss. The software is poorly designed - it won’t give you the option of waiting a few days or a week to deliver from another part of the country. Most other companies can manage that. I try to avoid Amazon but Argos isn’t making it easy.

JumpingLions · 31/03/2021 23:01

Same here in London if that's going to make you feel better. Never anything available. My family live scattered across the country and I put their postcodes in as well so they could collect and post it for me and still not available.

Haydugee · 31/03/2021 23:02

I bought a paddling pool from Argos yesterday. It was in stock and arrived the same day.

I was very impressed.

PositiveLife · 31/03/2021 23:09

The website is crap. I managed to find the 3 items I needed. One was delivery only, so I thought "fab, it'll save me driving round the awful roundabouts to my local store and I can get on with stuff in the house" except one item isn't available for delivery to me, even though it is in stock a mile up the road. I've spent ages swapping items for similar items to try and get everything. I'd have switched to Amazon but they don't offer a morning delivery and I need stuff for after lunch.

melj1213 · 31/03/2021 23:14

I work for a supermarket that has a click and collect hub for various companies (as well as our own) and we have been receiving parcels for the entirety of every lockdown. I also order online from various companies with items of various size - from a new cooker to a new t shirt - and no other company has such a terrible online ordering system.

Every single one of those companies has a website that people can order from and then decide where the items will be sent. The items are then dispatched from the warehouse to the chosen destination.

Why is Argos not capable of this? Why can I order and collect a book case in London on the same day but I cannot get the same item (either in store or for delivery) from the same company in Manchester, despite the fact that Argos clearly has stock of them in London where nobody is buying them.

The issues have noting to do with Ever Given and the Suez - this has been the case for a very long time.

Bluebird2021 · 31/03/2021 23:14

not for seasonal items.

argos is on its last legs, scaling down stock lines ready for franchises within sainsbury's. Don't worry, it will soon be gone from your high streets

melj1213 · 31/03/2021 23:15

that was in response to @Bluebird2021s* response to me, the post quote didn't work.

Rinoachicken · 31/03/2021 23:19

I live in a major south east town. We had a large stand alone store out of town plus a smaller one in town. Smaller one closed a couple of years back but out of town one always did a roaring trade. Most things always in stock, which made sense since they had a large warehouse.

Then lockdown happened last March and the out of town one was closed for ‘Covid’ and has never reopened. Instead we have a tiny counter in in the Sainsbury’s.

Since the large one was shut you can never get anything in stock, can’t get anything delivered. I’ve given up looking and now use Amazon way more than I used to.

Obviously the ones inside Sainsbury’s have a much smaller warehouse space so it’s obvious why they never have stock. But I don’t understand why I cannot have something delivered to me - they are a nationwide company FFS! If you have one available to buy, and I want to buy it but it’s over the other side of the country, then ship it to me! Otherwise it sits there unsought until someone local happens to want it, and I spend my money elsewhere!

I think this is going to be the end of them tbh. They could have been a competitor to Amazon if they got their act together to ship goods from wherever they are to where people want them, either to their door or their local store for collection.

But they don’t do that. It all just sits in random locations and you can only buy it if you live there!

Halloweenrainbow · 31/03/2021 23:22

Dissapointed with Argos stock too. Plus, my local Argos used to offer AM/PM choice of delivery but now it's just anytime between 7.30am - 9pm which I find a bit inconvenient.

MadisonAvenue · 31/03/2021 23:24

It’s been poor for some time now, long before the Suez problem.

Our local stand alone store has closed and it’s now reopened in Sainsburys, but the problem is that it’s an out of town store and unless you have car it’s not accessible by public transport or on foot (unless you want to risk getting run over as you walk along the pavementless very busy and fast dual carriageway).

jackstini · 31/03/2021 23:35

We still have a stand-alone store but Argos if you are reading this for goodness sake get filters sorted for 'in stock' & 'available for delivery' that correlate to an entered postcode!

chestnutmares · 31/03/2021 23:37

Yep, same issue here - nothing ever in stock for delivery or collection for miles around. Yet the item I'm looking at will often say something like 'Bought by 28 people today'. Who are these people and how are they actually managing to buy anything??

Mumbot345635 · 31/03/2021 23:37

Your post just made me think of the very funny sketch on Argos that Michael McIntyre did...

Circumlocutious · 31/03/2021 23:41

Worst website design and user experience ever. Can they really not hire someone to create some kind of availability filter??

noblegreenk · 31/03/2021 23:41

@Ratched

Yep. Loved Argos with the click and collect, but dont even bother looking now. Its always out of stock for my area. I knoe I am only one person, but I cheerfully spent £££££ with them every year, switched to Amazon and Etsy. So sad.
Exactly - you've switched to Amazon and Etsy - and they wonder why the High Street shops are dying a slow death!
