I know there are much bigger problems in the world right now, but I need to rant about this.

Every time I look on their website, at any type of product, it’s never in stock at any stores for collection and is definitely never available for delivery! We live in the East Midlands, we’re surrounded by stores but they never seem to have anything in them! Is it just me they don’t want to sell things to!? What the fuck is going on with them?

well now Sainsbury's owns them lets hope they get this sorted although they have moved some Argos stores into the supermarket they look very pokey and would not want to be in that part when very nice

Howtomakeevery1 · 31/03/2021 20:09

I live 2 minutes from Sainsbury’s/Argos - it’s always quicker and less frustrating to order from Amazon

Xmasbaby11 · 31/03/2021 20:12

I feel the same. The system is terrible - you don't know if you can actually buy it until you've put it in your basket and going through to checkout. I have given up several times, and as pp have said, gone to Amazon instead.

I have had the same issue with other stores such as Marks and Spencers, Debenhams, and some others I think. They need to invest in better systems as it is putting customers off and losing them sales.

gonewiththegin · 31/03/2021 20:13

Totally agree! Was trying to order some garden toys/furniture for my DS and not one thing was in stock or available for delivery. You think they would be trying harder to compete with Amazon and the likes

Allbymyself1 · 31/03/2021 20:15

I thought it was just me!!!
Had this since the start of the 1st lockdown, everything I've tried to order from Argos is either out of stock, delivery only BUT unavailable for delivery to my postcode or collect only BUT not available in any stores!!!
I've tried buying hair clippers, exercise bike, saucepans, wardrobes, duvet sets, toys but haven't managed to buy a single thing from Argos in a year except for a washing line! 😡

ClarkeGriffin · 31/03/2021 20:16

I haven't had any problems with argos. Maybe all the stock is up here. Grin

FlyingBurrito · 31/03/2021 20:17

@MoscowMuse

I think Argos has got loads worse since they closed the stand alone stores and only have the stores in Sainsburys. I dont bother looking even looking at their website anymore. Such a shame as their same day delivery service used to be great.
They haven't closed the stand alone stores, there are several within a short drive for me. I don't buy much there but haven't had any problems getting what I want.
Nellie850 · 31/03/2021 20:17

Yes!!! I’ve noticed this too. I keep thinking the stores nearest me must be shutting down soon and that’s why there’s never any stock! It’s always been this one at near me though, pre-covid.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 31/03/2021 20:19

I have 3 Argos stores within walking distance of home. They do seem to have a lot less in stock, but most things can be ordered for the next day - and I do like the convenience of collecting from the mini-Salisbury's across the road.

vixeyann · 31/03/2021 20:26

Pretty much given up now.... never anything available for pick up closer than an hour's drive away and never deliver to our location. This seems to be the case for most, unless you live in a larger town or city.

TrainWhistleChoir · 31/03/2021 20:27

Also in the East Midlands but needed to get a vapouriser and oximeter for DD when she was ill. Ordered from an Argos branch in Sainsbury's, collected the same day. I was dreading it as I've seen huge queues in that Argos but I was 3rd in the queue. I've heard bad things about the working conditions for their staff though.

DahliaMacNamara · 31/03/2021 20:28

I find the same thing when I want something from Argos. But every time I caution my elderly FIL that the thing he wants may not be in stock, it always is, just to make me look as if I'm looking for an excuse not to order it for him.

daisyjgrey · 31/03/2021 20:29

@Lambside

YABU! Everything is in a container on a ship in the Suez Canal!

Like bollocks is it, they've had nothing in stock for about the last 2 years. Nothing was stuck in a canal then!

Danni91 · 31/03/2021 20:30

100% there's 3 Argos stores in my town, yet even for collect the occasional thing will be 2 hours driving away with only 1 left in stock.
Its been absolutely wank for an easy year or 2 now.

LibertyMole · 31/03/2021 20:32

I agree that it is a terrible online system.

I don’t bother with them anymore because I am sick of them listing items that are really only in stock at one store in the whole country.

Floralnomad · 31/03/2021 20:32

It’s been like it for years , particularly anything in a sale . I was looking at something a few weeks ago and it was 1 for £13 or 2 for £15 , collect only . I’m in Kent and the nearest store for collection was Dumfries .

mamahoo · 31/03/2021 20:33

It drives me mad!!

I couldn't even get a washing line pole in my local store, or order it to my house.

It's so stupid

LucindaJane · 31/03/2021 20:33

Argos near me (Herts) used to be great. Since Covid though very little is in stock anywhere near me.

BettyOBarley · 31/03/2021 20:34

Yes!! YANBU.
Then you Google the item and it comes up on eBay - great! oh, sold by Argos...but it's ok because it says it's in stock! Get to the basket - not in stock Angry

Longdistance · 31/03/2021 20:36

I remember 30 years ago wanting a certain camera as a Christmas present. I never got it, because guess what? Argos didn’t have it in stock.
Still the fucking same and everyone wonders why Amazon is doing so well.
I wanted to buy something with a gift voucher from a refund, it took the funds but didn’t give a code. Can I get to speak to CS? Can I as fuck! Anyone have any ideas?

CathyorClaire · 31/03/2021 20:37

YANBU.

I've finally managed to lay hands on the patio sets I wanted in the colour I wanted but I've had to go to two different stores to get them. I ordered one on eBay only for them to take the payment then cancel because it wasn't in stock for my area Angry

I'm now looking at sofas and having the same issue. The ones I like are mysteriously and inevitably unavailable for our postcode Angry Angry

Longdistance · 31/03/2021 20:38

Actually, I’m wondering if it’s worse down south. My mil lives up north and pretty much can always get what we need up there at her local stores when all the stores near us (norf of London) has run out within a 40 mile radius.

Hallyup5 · 31/03/2021 20:45

Knew you were going to say Argos before I'd clicked and read the end of the title. It's absolutely ridiculous. Click on something and it's not in stock, repeatedly. Is it too difficult to only show items that are in stock locally?! I've given up on IKEA as well. Equally as shite.

GravityFalls · 31/03/2021 20:48

I don’t think patio sets really exist at all. They’re just a figment of someone’s imagination (unless they’re £1000+ in which case they are real and IN STOCK TODAY!)

WithLargeTableMouse · 31/03/2021 20:50

I hadn’t been able to see a single thing available from Argos on my phone app for most of last year, but everything was available to Dh, or available if I looked on my pc. I don’t know if they or I did an update recently but now everything is available again.
