To only just found out that Morrisons do the best donuts?!

We don't have a big Morrisons next to us, so until yesterday I lived in a naive believe that all donuts are equal! How wrong was I! My eldest daughter dropped by to say hello from a safe distance yesterday and brought those magical morsels of pure donut heaven to share with us. I am not ashamed to let you all know that I ate 2 immediately! Now my world has changed, I'm seeing everything in a new light, and with this revelation I am wondering what other wonderful things I'm missing unknowingly ...

Sorry but you’re wrong, Sainsbury’s are the best doughnuts

You're both wrong.

If you're in Hertfordshire, go to Simmons. Job done.

If you're not in Herts, (and if you live in Herts) go to your local Polish shop I'm the morning and get a delicious doughnut as big as your face for around 70p.

You won't regret it. Either choice.

MiloAndEddie

nope definitely not.

Salisbury's are dry, Morrison's are mouth wateringly good.

I miss a good old purpose built big Morrison's. There aren't any round here and the couple a bit further away, are awful grotty little places.Sad

You're right, Morrison's are the best.

I would like to agree with you but I got the 6 ring doughnuts this weekend and they were so oily! Really disappointing

They do lovely chocolate chip muffins too.

I don’t eat them but my kids love them. Good value. Especially if you can get them reduced to 9p for a pack of 5.

I’m so sorry but you’re sadly mistaken, Tesco’s doughnuts are the best.

DD spent all of last year after her A levels ere abandoned working in Morrison’s.
Her best job was being donut girl.
6am to 12.00 cooking, filling and wrapping donuts.
She used to bring home her specials. Usually double filled jam, but occasionally jam and custard, or apple and custard

Dh likes M&S best - I like Sainsbury’s too, can’t tell the difference.
Proper jam doughnuts though, none of these ghastly aberrations they sell now.

Can’t comment on Morrison’s, don’t have one anywhere near.

I discovered Tesco apple crumble doughnuts recently.
They didn’t look like anything special but they are amazing!

Morrisons, lidl in singles from the bakery section, or Tesco berliner doughtnuts. Krispy Kreme are acceptable if somebody else is buying but they're wildly overpriced.

Everywhere else I've tried is just crusty, dry and sad. I'm pretty sure Sainsburys use granulated suger on the outside of theirs when it should be powdered.

This is jam doughnuts though. Ring doughnuts are just jam doughnuts without the good bits.

Have you ever tasted a M&S yumnut? Omg nothing beats this for a doughnut! But I'll happily taste test them all just to check!

They are just the right kind of doughy, juicy and rolled in proper powder sugar!!!

Devonchills · 28/03/2021 13:54

Yep you're right, especially the custard ones.
I cant go near Morissette as I cant resist buying the donuts, and then scoffing the lot!

Oh you are so right.. Went to buy the choc orange ones today but not there so left with lemon ones to try.
The jam ones are amazing.

WolfHunter · 28/03/2021 13:58

A word of caution. The stores without a bakery do not fry their own donuts. They are inferior and disappointing.

Report

sunflowersandbuttercups · 28/03/2021 13:59

I love the gingerbread ones. And they do amazing donuts with fresh cream and raspberry jam!
