To only just found out that Morrisons do the best donuts?!

We don't have a big Morrisons next to us, so until yesterday I lived in a naive believe that all donuts are equal! How wrong was I! My eldest daughter dropped by to say hello from a safe distance yesterday and brought those magical morsels of pure donut heaven to share with us. I am not ashamed to let you all know that I ate 2 immediately! Now my world has changed, I'm seeing everything in a new light, and with this revelation I am wondering what other wonderful things I'm missing unknowingly ...

I agree I think it’s the powdery sugar abs crispy outer

KathySelden · 28/03/2021 15:05

YABU Powdered sugar, to heavy and cakey. Sainsbury's or Marks and Spencers only in this house.

BarbaraofSeville · 28/03/2021 15:05

I saw lemon curd ones on there yesterday. I still don't know how I managed to stop them jumping into the trolley.

Their pitta breads are the best supermarket ones by far too.

LegendDairy · 28/03/2021 15:10

Nope, all wrong. It's coop mini donuts which they don't stock anymore. Wonderful plum jam with perfect jam:dough ratio. I miss them

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 28/03/2021 15:14

The M&S yumnuts are best. They are well worth the £79378404 that they cost each.

Purplemarshmallows · 28/03/2021 15:17

I bought some of their chocolate orange donuts this morning, really looking forward to trying one after lunch, no filling in any of them, I was not impressed

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/03/2021 15:21

I couldn't find them online so I've ordered Portuguese custard tarts instead.

Oh no, the hardship Grin

IndecentFeminist · 28/03/2021 15:24

Yup, definitely the best

eatsleepread · 28/03/2021 15:31

I haven't tried them as Morrison's is a bit far away for me, but I am loving your enthusiasm OP Grin

MissConductUS · 28/03/2021 15:32

I guess none of you have had Krispy Kreme donuts.

Oh, nooo! I am so sorry, I think you will need to go back and complain on the basis of denial of basic human rights to have sufficient filling in donuts!

I had one from there just before lockdown and was so disappointed. They tasted weirdly vinegary and went in bun

YouSingIt · 28/03/2021 15:38

Waitrose used to do extra jammy ones. They had proper raspberry jam with seeds in them. God they were divine.

InFiveMins · 28/03/2021 15:41

Morrisons by far have the best bakery selection.

I have. Enormously expensive, and unbelievably sickly. Ratio of sugar to doughnut too high.

Yep - they're horrible!
shouldistop · 28/03/2021 15:46

Krispy Kreme are definitely the best

stackemhigh · 28/03/2021 15:50

I like the McDonalds chocolate ring donuts. Soft and squidgy.

Everythingiswonderful · 28/03/2021 15:50

They do one with a white fluffy cloud inside. No idea what it is but it’s addictive.

Sainsbury’s jam are lovely. I would pass on a powdered sugar coated one, the crunch of the granulated sugar with the squidgy soft dough is divine.

Tlollj · 28/03/2021 15:53

@IHaveBrilloHair now you’re talking.
Mmmm

NewYearNewTwatName · 28/03/2021 16:01

MissConductUS
yes I've had them, way too sickly sweet, I can omly do 1 plain from there. Krispy Kreme I also find too dry.

by far the best ring donuts are found in a little northern sea side town, you watch them being plopped in the fryer, and dipped in granulated sugar at the end, and are far too hot to eat when you're given them.Grin

ElderMillennial · 28/03/2021 16:02

A lot of cakes are frozen such as the cakes and muffins they sell in coffee shops

They are defrosted before they are displayed for sale

Wellpark · 28/03/2021 16:10

If anyone is interested Morrisons fresh cream sponge is lovely. Lidl scotch morning rolls are delicious too.

Jubaju · 28/03/2021 16:13

Lidl raspberry ones are the best!

miltonj · 28/03/2021 16:16

Greggs!

But really, all donuts 🍩 are brilliant.
