To only just found out that Morrisons do the best donuts?!

We don't have a big Morrisons next to us, so until yesterday I lived in a naive believe that all donuts are equal! How wrong was I! My eldest daughter dropped by to say hello from a safe distance yesterday and brought those magical morsels of pure donut heaven to share with us. I am not ashamed to let you all know that I ate 2 immediately! Now my world has changed, I'm seeing everything in a new light, and with this revelation I am wondering what other wonderful things I'm missing unknowingly ...

This is my favourite thread of all time! I had no idea that people preferred powdered sugar :)

Caster sugar/granulated is the only type that should be on a doughnut. Just like the freshly cooked ones on the pier (before the seagull nicks it)

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 29/03/2021 10:20

absolutely morrisons, raspberry donuts are the best, it is the oil i think

lastqueenofscotland · 29/03/2021 10:24

The Morrison’s filled chocolate orange ones are sent from the gods

BigPaperBag · 29/03/2021 10:28

Nope, there’s are rubbish🤮🤮 Tesco all the way thanks very much. Morrison’s are very much emergency doughnuts.

SwedishEdith · 29/03/2021 10:31

I only like the freshly cooked ones in a bag of sugar that you get at fetes and the seaside as well. Krispy Kreme always look absolutely vile to me. Lurid. I don't consider them to be a doughnut Grin snob

Wellpark · 29/03/2021 11:57

Krispy Kreme are too sweet for me. My favourite donut was found when I lived in Texas. A local supermarket there did baked 'cake' donuts. The blueberry one was fantastic 😍

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 02/04/2021 18:29

Thanks to this thread I had to buy some yumnuts today. Obviously they were for research purposes but they were lovely!

On the subject of 'normal' doughnuts, does anyone know what flavour jam Tesco use? It never used to say on the packet and when I asked none of the bakery staff knew. I can't eat strawberries so I wasn't prepared to risk it!

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 03/04/2021 19:39

What flavour yumnut did you have?

Lobster2018 · 03/04/2021 19:45

Another vote for Sainsbury's, the best!

DressyGerbera · 03/04/2021 21:20

What are these yumnuts from M&S? Are they basically yumyums and donuts in one? Oh might i feel like i need one now!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/04/2021 21:33

@YesIDoLoveCrisps

What flavour yumnut did you have?
Raspberry Royale. I was hoping DH wouldn't like them so I could have the third one but sadly he did so I had to share!
WellTidy · 03/04/2021 21:39

This is all good to know. I am a Krispy Kreme donut lover, and fear forgoing Krispy Kreme and then getting a dud elsewhere. Which would be enormously disappointing. I love their chocolate dreamcake donut (chocolate iced and filled with a chocolate cream, which is very different to a custard).

ALongHardWinter · 03/04/2021 21:48

Mark's and Spencer do the best doughnuts imo. just waiting for the usual killjoy to come along and start lecturing us about our unhealthy eating habits

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 03/04/2021 21:49

Oooh, I haven't tried that. Unfortunately having a Krispy Kreme would mean visiting the bear pit that is my local Tesco and I've avoided that for over 2 years!

Krispy Kremes also make me nervous as they remind me of a holiday in the US. We went into a KK shop just outside Daytona and I asked for a chocolate drink. The server refused to sell it to me as I wouldn't like it, I'd prefer grapefruit slush instead (I don't like grapefruit). I tried to explain that I really did want the chocolate and he still refused. At this point I realised we were being watched by some locals who didn't look very friendly and, having seen Deliverance, I bought the grapefruit slush and we headed back to the car pretty quickly!
