To only just found out that Morrisons do the best donuts?!

We don't have a big Morrisons next to us, so until yesterday I lived in a naive believe that all donuts are equal! How wrong was I! My eldest daughter dropped by to say hello from a safe distance yesterday and brought those magical morsels of pure donut heaven to share with us. I am not ashamed to let you all know that I ate 2 immediately! Now my world has changed, I'm seeing everything in a new light, and with this revelation I am wondering what other wonderful things I'm missing unknowingly ...

Oh gosh I love morrisons doughnuts! They are soo good . So good in fact I actually avoid morrisons as I have no control !

ParkheadParadise · 28/03/2021 14:02

Doughnuts are the one thing I NEVER buy from the supermarket. The bakers near me makes the best doughnuts. They are still warm when you buy them. When dd was a baby I would buy them and eat one on the way home. Their sugar dough rings are the best things ever 😃
Special Offer just now 5 for £1
Caramel chocolate is also 👍

user20211 · 28/03/2021 14:02

Nope nope nope. The M&S yum nuts are supreme.

ElderMillennial · 28/03/2021 14:02

Thanks OP, now I really want a donut or is it doughnut? 🍩

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/03/2021 14:04

I dont like the powdered sugar ones, and prefer crunchy sugar with a really dark fruity jam.
M&s are good but I really love the ones Chatwins in Chester sells. Mmmmmm....

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 28/03/2021 14:05

They also do amazing flapjacks.

moirarosebabay · 28/03/2021 14:07

@MiloAndEddie

Sorry but you’re wrong, Sainsbury’s are the best doughnuts
I agree!
callmeH · 28/03/2021 14:10

@00100001

You're all still wrong 🤣
Agree, all doughnuts are vile!

Oh yes, this I can agree with. I’m sure Morrison’s flapjacks have crack or something in them, I can’t buy them anymore because all self-control goes out the window.
IHaveBrilloHair · 28/03/2021 14:21

Do they have plain ring ones with no sugar on?
They are the only type I like and are surprisingly hard to find.

TrialOfStyle · 28/03/2021 14:21

Morrison’s bakery is the best. The doughnuts have that amazing sugar and I love their freshly cooked, flakey sausage rolls.

thecatmother · 28/03/2021 14:21

I've googled the nearest big store (thanks for the heads up about the bakery) I just need a plausible excuse to drive 10 miles to do my shopping when I live within a walking distance from another superstore!

I asked my daughter, yes, they do! Good luck!!

@00100001

You're both wrong.

If you're in Hertfordshire, go to Simmons. Job done.

If you're not in Herts, (and if you live in Herts) go to your local Polish shop I'm the morning and get a delicious doughnut as big as your face for around 70p.

You won't regret it. Either choice.

Simmons is without doubt the best!
OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2021 14:28

Sainsbury's are the best. But I've not tried M&S, so I'm willing to experiment.
How I wish for a local polish shop.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 28/03/2021 14:29

Morrisons do the best scotch eggs too....no hard bits at all, just taste great.

IHaveBrilloHair · 28/03/2021 14:29

Ooooh I'm going to have to go then.
(I'm not a weird sugar avoider btw, I just don't like the texture and the sugar getting on my lips, sweet glaze is fine)

ElderMillennial · 28/03/2021 14:30

I like Krispy Kremes too which you can get in Morrison's / Tesco etc...

CoffeethenCrochet · 28/03/2021 14:36

Now I really fancy a doughnut Envy

HermioneWeasley · 28/03/2021 14:39

Yes, where they have an instore bakery and make them fresh they are the best of the supermarket donuts by far.

catsarebetterthandogs9 · 28/03/2021 14:39

You're right. Although I've stopped buying them because for the past year or so the donut filler at my local Morrison's has got stingy and they've either got no jam or half a teaspoon if you're really lucky.
Sainsburys are nice.
Asda are stale ALL THE TIME.
Don't think I've tried Tesco, but their ring ones are lovely.

Nothing beats a Krispy Kreme though (even if they do make you feel sick)

FightingTheFoo · 28/03/2021 14:42

My favourite donuts are the ones you get at music festivals. I miss them so much!

Corrag · 28/03/2021 14:57

I also think Morrison's doughnuts are the best but I was very surprised to hear they're frozen. I don't know if this is the case at every store but certainly at my local one (which has now closed).
