...or items?

Mine have been:

  1. A large transparent command hook that I put on the side of a chest of drawers to hang my hairdryer on (I tried lots of other sticky hooks before but that was the only one that actually worked)
  1. Buying all the same clothes hangers so DD's clothes look tidier
  1. A large kitchen sink tidier which has instantly made the kitchen side less messy

I am on a constant mission to improve our living spaces, so AIBU to ask what yours have been?

A rechargeable lamp that looks like the moon.
An antique pair of opera glasses to see small things on the telly.
Extremely strong Balkan vodka. Several times.

CoRhona · 18/02/2021 18:57

@Labobo @CornedBeef451 it's this one - it's such a good size, and you can move the inner bits so you can fit larger things in.

Loving the answers so far. Already have quite a few of the items suggested BlushBlush but very interested to see how many positive comments for the yoghurt maker, I'd always associated those with infomercials and therefore not worth buying!!

A (part-time) online tutor for DS.

Lambswool insoles for boots. Have made the endless trips to the park during January just about bearable.

SplendidSuns1000 · 18/02/2021 18:57

Bluetooth headphones- I listen to podcasts, music, films etc all day without worrying about wires. They're great for cleaning and tidying, pottering in the garden, and I even wear them in the shower.

Luxury underwear and wearable lingerie for the days I feel like sloppy shit but want to look slightly fancy whilst draped over the sofa eating quality street watching Friends for the 14th time (Every day). DH has banned me from his office during work hours though.

A lidded cup so I can drink whilst draped over the sofa without spilling wine water everywhere. It's essentially a sippy cup. It sparks joy.

RhubarbTea · 18/02/2021 18:57

Breadmaker

Eufy

Ring Fit Adventure for the Nintendo Switch so we can keep fit even when it's sheeting it down outside.

Reinventinganna · 18/02/2021 18:57

A new work bag to make me feel better about going to work.

New underwear to make me feel better about my body.

MessAllOver · 18/02/2021 18:58

For my DS:

  • Tuff tray in lockdown 1
  • Kinetic sand in lockdown 2.
Both used almost everyday.

For me:

  • Ice-maker in lockdown 1
  • Non-spill reusable coffee cup in lockdown 2. I can collect my takeaway coffee and shove it in my bag until I get to the park with DS.
Confusedandshaken · 18/02/2021 18:59

A fan for the bedroom when it was hot.

A heated throw for the living room that is very handy now.

A calligraphy workshop last autumn that set me off on the new hobby that has passed a few hours a day and made this lockdown bearable.

I have also bought countless red lipsticks - god only knows why. I'm not going anywhere and I'm not wearing any other makeup and when I was going out they just smudged on my face mask but I have bought about 12 since last summer.

MyCatHatesEverybody · 18/02/2021 18:59

Counselling (not quite an item, I know!)

Bluewavescrashing · 18/02/2021 19:01

Prime
Heated throw
Cabin fluffy socks from mukluk
Paint by numbers for DCs (adult level, takes days)

springiscoming12 · 18/02/2021 19:02

Peloton bike. Best purchase of the last 10 years for us I reckon.

mrsm43s · 18/02/2021 19:02

In no particular order
An oodie
Outsmarted game
A sodastream
An inflatable hot tub (judge away, but it's what got me through lockdown 1)

Chaotica · 18/02/2021 19:02

Running shoes

itsgettingwierd · 18/02/2021 19:02

Welly liners and some lightweight wellies.

A cheap George foreman type grill from Aldi reduced to £14.99

A treadmill and tower gym for swimmer ds

CallforHecate · 18/02/2021 19:03

A kneeling chair for working - couldn’t have managed the last year in a normal office chair. So much better for my posture. And a Sodastream Blush - fizzy water whenever I want! Luxury!

CoRhona · 18/02/2021 19:03

@splendidsuns1000

Your lidded drink reminds me of another really useful thing I bought:

www.couchcoaster.com/

DH loves it, no more trying to find a book to rest his drink on that I'm not having a fit he's using as a coaster!!

StealingYourWiFi · 18/02/2021 19:04

Peloton bike. Won’t be going back to the gym.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 18/02/2021 19:05

A house on half an acre, some chickens, and an embarrassingly large stash of seeds Grin

Eckhart · 18/02/2021 19:07

Piano lessons. They're not a thing. Perhaps I should say piano teacher. But I haven't actually bought him.

itsgettingwierd · 18/02/2021 19:07

@TerribleCustomerCervix

Lucy and Yak cord dungarees

I can’t recall what waistbands feel like.

I've been salivating over a pair of these. The pink cord ones in long length.

They are very expensive though at £65 and I can't work out what size I need. I'm pear shaped but their size guide makes me a 16 hip, 20 waist and 18 bust.

I'm a comfy 16 in good clothes shops.

NeedToGetOuttaHere · 18/02/2021 19:09

A small fridge for drinks as we have no space in our normal fridge.
New armchairs and sofa.

MrsMackesy · 18/02/2021 19:09

Garden swing - seats 4 - very relaxing, even in this weather with blankets, hot water bottles, fairy lights and an outdoor fire
Clippers and hairdressing scissors
Toniebox and Tonies
Basketball hoop
Football goal
Sand

MordredsOrrery · 18/02/2021 19:11

A television - the kids have discovered CBeebies and Disney, whilst I've been reliving the West Wing.

lioncitygirl · 18/02/2021 19:11

Lessons into music production - keeps me sane at night. Fairy lights - makes the place a bit happier. New velux blinds, new coffee machine.

peak2021 · 18/02/2021 19:11

Mine was a few months BFI film subscription.
