...or items?

Mine have been:

  1. A large transparent command hook that I put on the side of a chest of drawers to hang my hairdryer on (I tried lots of other sticky hooks before but that was the only one that actually worked)
  1. Buying all the same clothes hangers so DD's clothes look tidier
  1. A large kitchen sink tidier which has instantly made the kitchen side less messy

I am on a constant mission to improve our living spaces, so AIBU to ask what yours have been?

Uniqlo loungewear trousers

Another one who got a Eufy robovac - in fact I got the idea from a similar thread about 6 months ago. I’ve not stopped raving about it since I got it Smile

A cat

TheGriffle · 18/02/2021 18:38

Lockdown 1 - a laptop for dd to do her school work on. Invaluable. Just wish I could afford a printer this time round to go with it.

Deliveroo Plus!

CornedBeef451 · 18/02/2021 18:39

@CoRhona which sink tidier do you have? I've been browsing but haven't committed yet.

Mine was a recommendation on here, wooden toaster tweezers, breakfast game changer.

WeeMadArthur · 18/02/2021 18:40

Oh, I was thinking about starting a thread like this. Mine is a teapot big enough to make two mugs of tea ( now that DH is working from home too). It’s so much nicer making a pot of tea for two than making it in two mugs.

A cable organiser bag - I’ve emptied all of the tangled up chargers, cables and earphones and I’ve sorted, chucked away, and put them away neatly labelled in an organiser bag. Now when someone says “Anyone know where the kindle charging wire is”, I know.

I’m awaiting a delivery of packaging clips for the kitchen, I’m sick of the cupboards and freezer being full of spilled rice, peas, pasta, fruit, etc.

BertieBotts · 18/02/2021 18:45

@TheGriffle have you looked at the HP instant ink ones? They are selling them really cheap because they really want you on their subscription model. If they still do the free subscription tier, that's definitely worth it IMO, if not, the cheapest one is not bad. We don't print very much at all so we just pay for extra pages on the months we do go over.

Thelnebriati · 18/02/2021 18:46

Its a boring one, but a printer and laminator, and a huge stack of pouches I got in the sale.
The game changer was working out ways to use the pouches. I've laminated obvious things like knitting patterns and wipe clean recipe cards for the kitchen, and I've also made some crafty things like door hangers to remind us which bin to put out, covers for notebooks, and bookmarks.

New bakeware and echos for every room. No more shouting up the stairs which drives me mad.

LadyDanburysCane · 18/02/2021 18:47

Disney+. I got it for Hamilton and fully intended to cancel after a month but we have watched so many things on it....

Earplugs

ErrolTheDragon · 18/02/2021 18:49

Hair clippers

They're probably DHs most useful purchase. I rather enjoy shearing him, out in the garden. Grin

Massive orange puffa coat

Soup maker. No more left over veg going soggy in the fridge!

CoffeeWithCheese · 18/02/2021 18:52

My bean to cup coffee machine when Costa was closed and I was desperate for decent coffee.

Also, after numerous scavenged or dirt cheap chairs broke or wrecked my back, my eyewateringly expensive secretlabs PC chair - when I'm sat at a PC all day (previously I'd have been walking between lectures and buildings as some comedian likes to timetable us at opposite ends of the campus with 5 minute switchovers constantly) it has really been appreciated - and probably cost less for the sturdiness of it than my cheapies have done.

Emeraldshamrock · 18/02/2021 18:52

Kitchen organiser some ikea kallax units for the DC'S bedrooms - Sandpit and basketball hoop during first lockdown.

TheGriffle · 18/02/2021 18:52

@BertieBotts ooh I’ve not heard of them, thank. £40 might be doable and £4 a month for ink. I just begrudge it when we had to fork out £200 for a laptop/notebook thing last year purely for school work and then the printer and ink on top. I’ve been refusing on principle really but that’s not too bad.

Galwaygirl · 18/02/2021 18:54

Naked Wines subscription.

Didn't buy, but Couch25k app. It got me back into running after an injury-enforced few years off and now I'm doing it again with DD.

My bike.

Lincslady53 · 18/02/2021 18:55

Cambridge Audio wireless earbuds. Couldn't justify £200+ for Apple, these were £79, reduced from £150 cos a new model was coming out. They are excellent on my walks. Looking forward to sitting on a beach listening to a podcast or two.

Ilovelblue · 18/02/2021 18:55

A cordless hedge trimmer. Why did I use the wired ones which are really heavy for so long?

Also, changing to decaff coffee (making far more brews due to being at home so much more).
