To think Wyse London need to rethink their marketing

I get bombarded by ads from Wyse London on Facebook - no idea why

But what sticks out me is it’s generally a woman wearing clothes she really can’t carry off

A quick Google showed the lady is the company founder but still, if you want to appeal to a certain market, then surely you get models who show it off to the best advantage

Really?
She's an attractive woman, who has a nice figure and looks about the same age as me. Maybe a couple of years older?
I like her jumpers too, I have several.
Is it her age that bothers you - women don't need to hide as they get older you know.

Butterflyfluff · 07/02/2021 18:38

I just think their outfits are very boho etc and she really doesn’t make them look anyway near good as other models do

Very few women her (my) age would

Thehop · 07/02/2021 18:39

Just had a look

Nice to see someone old and unusual looking showing clothes

But eye watering prices out of my league!

Dogsarehairy · 07/02/2021 18:40

Maybe they are trying to target adult women who don't buy clothes based on how attractive the model is but whether they will suit them?

Bearbehind · 07/02/2021 18:40

They are super expensive!

No idea why they target me!

unfortunateevents · 07/02/2021 18:41

Maybe the market she is appealing to is HERSELF - i.e. women who don't slavishly follow fashion trends, who have a decent amount of money to spend on good-quality clothing and who would rather see the item displayed by someone with whom they can identify rather than an air-brushed vision of youth? Also I have googled the founder and she looks like a very elegant woman (whom I can't see in any of the images on the actual website either!)

I guess that’s my point though

There aren’t many women over 30 who can pull that look off so it seems odd to appeal to them

Pull what off?

I am 56 and having looked at their website I may well order a jumper
Are their clothes too young for me? because I am over 30?

Respectabitch · 07/02/2021 18:44

I think she looks good, and I think this is mean-spirited and narrow-minded.

Bearbehind · 07/02/2021 18:45

Maybe we should have a photo completion to see who pulls off the big printed dress and bright tank top look the best 😂

I’ll bow out from that now though!

Who needs men for misogyny and ageism when it comes so readily from other women on Mumsnet.

Lets lock up the over 30s and only let them out of they wear Damart?

Bearbehind · 07/02/2021 18:46

OK, happy to admit I’m in the minority

OP posts:
DillyDilly · 07/02/2021 18:46

You’re being ridiculous, If you think women over 30 can’t pull off that look - what do you think the 30+ should be wearing ???

Redcherries · 07/02/2021 18:47

I would say I’m a bit younger but looking at the website, which is really really not my style of clothes, those women all look bloody fantastic.

DillyDilly · 07/02/2021 18:47

What kind of clothes do you think the founder should be wearing ?

Bearbehind · 07/02/2021 18:48

I’m in my 40s and couldn’t begin to think of the dress and tank top look

If you could then fair play to you

FlyingNorth · 07/02/2021 18:48

Seriously, is this stealth marketing? I have just googled and the founder looks fab. I'm past the age where I buy clothes based on how they look on a size 8 twentysomething model. I'm much more likely to be swayed by seeing the clothes on someone who looks cool, successful and around my own age. Can't bear online sites which have the caveat, "model is 5'10" and wears a size 8".

Gekeos · 07/02/2021 18:48

I actually totally agree with you and always say this to my friend, the clothes are lovely, but definitely think they need to get someone better to modal them. She's so uninspiring.

unfortunateevents · 07/02/2021 18:50

I have just googled and the founder looks fab - I have a horrible feeling the OP has mistaken the founder Marielle Wyse for one of the models featured prominently on their website.

DillyDilly · 07/02/2021 18:50

Well couldn’t see too many under 20’s wearing tank top and dress! I think their target market is probably 30+, clothes that you can wear over and over for many years.

nordica · 07/02/2021 18:54

I think she looks lovely. I'm younger but find it easier to relate to her than the studio models.

I also think the home based photos are partly a covid thing, it's not as easy doing photoshoots at the moment.

Dogsarehairy · 07/02/2021 18:54

She looks great

To think Wyse London need to rethink their marketing
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 07/02/2021 18:55

I think she looks great in her clothes.

ToManderleyAgain · 07/02/2021 18:56

Are you talking about Marielle? I always think she looks great! To me she has a gamine look (not sure if others agree?) And it’s that gamine-type look which is key to being able to pull off some of those pieces and some of the more unusual combinations. I personally think she shows the clothes off better than the models. Yes, the models look good (some of them would look good wearing anything) but they don’t all make the clothes come alive in the same way as Marielle does.

FlyingNorth · 07/02/2021 18:58

I think I know who you're referring to. Reinforces my point, to be honest - the model in question is about my level in the glam stakes (i.e. not very) but wears some fun clothes, looks confident and together. I have no truck with "age-appropriateness" and being able to "pull off" a look after 30.
