To think Wyse London need to rethink their marketing

I get bombarded by ads from Wyse London on Facebook - no idea why

But what sticks out me is it’s generally a woman wearing clothes she really can’t carry off

A quick Google showed the lady is the company founder but still, if you want to appeal to a certain market, then surely you get models who show it off to the best advantage

She is super stylish as are tank tops ,maybe you don't keep up with fashion and that so fine but don't be so daft to slag it off .. and as I said up thread this is such poor taste . Why can't women just be nice to each other !!!

Moulesvinrouge1 · 08/02/2021 12:31

This is a really spiteful thread. @Bearbehind can I ask where you live? Is it Dullsville, population 1? I would never presume to think that about another human that I considered what they were wearing was ‘not appropriate’ or that they ‘couldn’t pull it off’ unless it was snorkelling gear for a formal dinner or they were actually naked. I wear everything from take jeans, trainers and a plain jumper to animal print, formal business clothes and weekend wear that is all the colours and styles of the rainbow. We are all different, and as someone said ‘it is just clothes’. You wear what you like, and keep your beak out if something that has literally no effect on you Smile
An article with her wearing the clothes

www.theguardian.com/fashion/2020/dec/13/how-lockdown-unleashed-a-thriving-online-market-for-colourful-clothes
Thanks for this link @Dogsarehairy. There are several designers in that article I’d love to support in addition to Wyse.

OP, you seem to have a very narrow view of what women should be allowed to wear?

What's your view on long hair over 40?

MadameButterface · 08/02/2021 13:19

How dare some old doris go around not looking as basic as humanly possible huh, they should bring back the stocks and the ducking stool

sleepwhenidie · 09/02/2021 23:44

Hmm I’m sure Marielle isn’t too bothered by your view Bearbehind - I’ve frequently encountered ‘sold out’ when I’ve tried to order various items so she seems to be doing ok at judging the market Smile

I dont even want to tell you who i am and how irritated this post made me when i saw it... Does sitting on ur sofa posting on mumsnet and scrolling through facebook earn you the right to critique the marketing a woman who has probably made millions selling clothes by marketing HERSELF to show other women its ok to be older and wear beautiful things?? You should take this comment down and think about what kind of impact you have posting this online and get more busy with a job of your own, sounds like you seriously might benefit from having a bit less free time. bye!

Well it took you nearly two years to find the post so yeah - you're not really all that either! And Grin at not telling us who you are. Nobody knows who anyone is on here Hmm

Clearly someone is just salty they are having a midlife crisis and doesn't have the career and confidence Marielle has..

I have had the pleasure of meeting her in person, not only is she super down to earth, absolutely lovely and an incredibly hard working business woman who started this business from nothing in a time where most people’s feats was curating a new banana bread recipe. But also she has made so many women I know feel just as confident and beautiful as she herself. This woman's has a talent for marketing which if anything is at the heart of the brand's success as well as so many people buying clothes to be part of what she represents: Powerfull, Talented Independent women. If that isn't the ideal marketing strategy then your either a tasteless misogynistic man typing behind the facade of a mum or a sad someone who wants to throw insults at a woman whos living everyone elses' dream.

noneoyourbusiness · 19/01/2024 15:43

Oh goodie you're still here after two years! Quick to reply too glad the job hunt is still going well !! if all else fails you should consider career on being a bitchy mum on mumsnet your cv is outstanding... just using my breaktime to defend other women who actually do stuff more important then post about their ads on facebook but youre right, ill leave you be, you are probably a waste of my time :)

suckyamudder · 19/01/2024 15:43

I down know who the clown is who replied to this- but a bit sad to see someone subscribing just to try and feel some ounce of pleasure off insulting WYSE, clearly @EffortlesslyInelegant doesn't get much stimulation from anywhere else... Marielle FTW...

poopoolala · 19/01/2024 16:36

What a horrid post ! She is modelling it because she is her target audience !

I think she looks lovely , she has a great figure and wears clothes well .

It's her company and she can do what she wants !

Also they are expensive because they aren't mass produced and are quality materials . If you can't afford them scroll past !

ManateeFair · 19/01/2024 16:45

Companies can't win. Use young, skinny, stunning models who would never actually buy the clothes they're modelling anyway, and everyone moans that it's unrealistic and ignoring the target demographic and aren't 'real' women. But use a wealthy older woman who IS the target demographic and who FOUNDED THE FUCKING COMPANY and people moan that she 'can't carry off' the outfits.

Really fucking disappointing when it's other women spouting this shite.

BobbyBiscuits · 19/01/2024 22:12

DK the brand, but I just saw a pic of her, she looks like Mariella Frostrup but much less rock n roll. Some of the clothes she models look a bit like something a CBeebies presenter might wear, or even a 9 year old kid! I think she is alright looking though. But something jarring about her modelling a lot of stuff when there's so may actual models out there they could use, seems like she is rather fond of herself.

It's her fucking company. She started it to make the clothes she wanted to buy and wear. She is her customer. Why wouldn't she model them?

Wyse has become very successful, in spite of Marielle daring to feature herself wearing her products in her social media content (the actual website and professional promo shots are pretty much all professional models).

BobbyBiscuits · 19/01/2024 23:05

@Respectabitch Because some of them don't suit her? "she IS her customer" well lucky her, she can buy her own stuff off herself then...That makes no sense.
I wouldn't model my own designs and the designers/ stylists I know wouldn't either. I know plenty of professional models and I would be using them to enhance the look of my products. I know she also does this, but the OP was asking for views about her as a marketing model.
Each to their own I guess. I couldn't give a toss whether they are successful or not frankly.
