Many women have been suspended from sm for asking the question: “Do you believe that male sexed people should be allowed access to changing rooms and showers for female sexed people and teenagers?” Seems like a perfectly reasonable question which we should be allowed to ask. Let’s vote with our AIBU.

And jj we have experienced those formerly lesbian / women’s groups in the past which were under constant pressure to allow transwomen in. The divide and rule tactics caused many groups to go underground/ cease functioning,/ suppressed any objection, which was presumably the aim. We have not forgiven, either , the takeover of formerly LGB groups. Why would we possibly think you should share more intimate space with you. FFS even the Women’s Institute!

No-one has taken over anything. Stonewall is run by a lesbian. Diva magazine is run by a lesbian. Autostraddles is run by a lesbian. Most LGB organisations have become trans inclusive, that is not the same as trans people taking them over.

this article examines Edinburgh University's submission for Stonewall Champion status. Employers using Stonewall's guidance in their training end up silencing dissent in their employees by having such a wide definition of 'transphobia' that even expressing concerns at the loss of single sex spaces could be interpreted as transphobia and people who rely on their job are prevented from speaking out.

From this submission it would seem that Edinburgh Uni's answer to the Staniland question would be yes and #nodebate. That is not healthy in any democratic society. They also recommend removing sex specific terms from general usage such as 'mother' or 'father' which is concerning for those people that are mothers or fathers and would like to be known as such.

tbf Baroness Ruth Hunt, after declaring in 2015 that Stonewall was going to focus on the trans also accused a lesbian group at Pride of transphobia because they said lesbians don't have penises. I think Ruth is not really on the side of most lesbians.

Lesbian run Diva magazine said that Nicola Adams, national lesbian treasure and Olympic boxer was transphobic because she said that people who had benefited from a male puberty (like Fallon Fox for eg.) should not box with women.

tbf Baroness Ruth Hunt, after declaring in 2015 that Stonewall was going to focus on the trans also accused a lesbian group at Pride of transphobia because they said lesbians don't have penises. I think Ruth is not really on the side of most lesbians.

I rather suspect it was actually because they disrupted an event intended to be a celebration of LGBT lives with banners claiming trans people were erasing lesbians. And given the overwhelming support for trans people from lesbians after that incident then her views do not seem to be that controversial within the LGB community.

Can you evidence the overwhelming support for transpeople from lesbians please? Because what I am seeing is lesbians losing their jobs and being harassed for daring to speak out about the affect of the ideology on the rights of women and girls.

Joanna Cherry being a case in point was sacked from a senior political role in the UK. She's a lesbian who has been sacked for voicing her GC views. Today in the UK. I am incensed that this has happened.

That doesn't mean he didn;t behave completely inappropriately for a man in that position and I'm not so quick to brush off those who made the allegations. If Cherry think he's fit to lead a party after that then she clearly has very skewed judgement about what is appropriate behaviour.

And she's been dismissed because she's been blatantly plotting against the leadership, no politician is going to get away with that for long.

A picture of a few lesbians who support the Trans movement does not mean that all lesbians should feel the same. The suggestion that a lesbian can have a penis is extremely offensive. You don't get to decide that it is not. Lesbians who don't want to have sex with a transwoman ARE being harassed but yet straight men don't seem to be being held to the same standard. The fact that some lesbians are OK with it is as relevant as saying some women don't mind giving up their same sex spaces. This is to do with women's boundaries.

And Alex Salmond is a red herring. Joanna Cherry was dismissed for daring to speak out for women. Her views on other matters are irrelevant to the fact.

I think you probably need to ask twitter why she was banned, I don't understand why you think someone is going to pop up here and explain the decision they took.

Yesterday NS had a meeting to define transphobia following apologising to transpeople and saying she would eradicate it from the party. Transphobia according to stonewall includes anyone who queries the ideology for any reason ergo. any woman who stands up for their rights is transphobic. Scotland tried to pass a law to say it was hate speech.

Today Joanna Cherry, a lesbian woman who was brave enough to stand up for women's rights knowing the impact that it could have on her political career was dismissed.

It doesn't take a mastermind to work out the reasons she was dismissed.

It was because she stood up for women's rights.

If that was the case, how come plenty of people are doing that every day on Twitter and they're still there? The same question on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on even after people answer it, coupled with the fact that equating trans people just wanting to get on with their lives with "male violence" might have something to do with it. It's dog whistly, and people who haven't seen these type of threads before will be like "of course women shouldn't be banned for just asking a question, this is scary" When it's so much more than that.

Oh. I know why she was banned. Twitter is a platform only too happy to allow Transactivists and their allies to hound any woman who dares to suggest that women are entitled to say no to people who are male. Helen had to be got rid of because her question graphically illustrated that allowing males to self identify as women puts women at risk of male violence.
