Amazon Prime, Netflix, wherever. I need something to get us through the rest of winter because my work is depressing, my baby is exhausting, my cat won't leave me alone, and lockdown is forever.

OP posts:
LucasLeesEyebrows · 01/02/2021 17:24

Netflix:
Bloodline
The Keepers
Making a Murderer
Breaking Bad
Better Call Saul
Schitt’s Creek (a comedy but it’s perfect!)
Behind Her Eyes (this isn’t released until Mid-Feb but I’ve read the book and liked it - so I’m looking forward to watching it)

Prime
Little Fires Everywhere

Sky
Chernobyl
Gangs of London
The Undoing

Apple TV
Defending Jacob

Medical dramas - Chicago med and code black have recently dropped on prime, also ER the whole show is on all4 as is st elsewhere if you wanna go really retro

Crime drama -I tend to the lighter fare and prefer American made to Uk. My favourites inc ncis, white collar, lie to me, lucifer, how to get away with murder, criminal minds, bones, damages, Bosch (slow burner stick with it),

This is us is fab but hard to define, family saga? Gilmore girls I would say similar genre wise but much quicker and wittier, I'm a single mum to a dd and could relate to a LOT of it

Agree the west wing is great too I am just catching up on seeing it having missed it back in the day, love it!

IMissFrance · 01/02/2021 17:26

Taskmaster (All4 has all 10 series)

Netflix - The Good Place, Schitts Creek

YouTube - the musician hoarder house series on Curiosity Inc's channel.

@HelloILoveYou

Lots of great recommendations there, but two bing sessions that stood out for me were:
  • Unorthodox
  • Unbelievable

Both based on true stores, each just a few episodes, very focused. I watch each series over 2 days. Couldn't stop!

Yes - I loved Unorthodox and the acting Unbelievable was brilliant
pigandmonkey · 01/02/2021 17:47

Shitsel on Netflix, it's only 2 seasons and I was a little sad when it was done.
Another vote for Call My Agent.

Cantaloupeisland · 01/02/2021 17:53

Ratched on Netflix. Back story of nurse Ratched from one flew over the cuckoo's nest. Beautifully filmed with amazing 50s clothes!

singlemummanurse · 01/02/2021 17:56

Zoeys extraordinary playlist season 1 is on all4 season 2 is being aired in US at the moment can't wait for it to come over!
Better things on iplayer has several seasons and every time a new one drops i end up binging it all in one go.

KnotKnot · 01/02/2021 18:21

Big YES binge for these mentioned above

  • Unorthodox
  • Unbelievable

I especially liked these because of the strong and interesting female characters. It's also nice to watch something self-contained, i.e., where the series has a definite end (which may be satisfying or not, but it ENDS). One issue with a successful series me is they try invite more material for future, which does not always work.

TVDFan · 01/02/2021 18:29

Modern Family (feel good comedy)
Superstore (silly comedy)
Sex education (comedy)
The good doctor (comedy drama)

The Vampire diaries (fantasy drama)
The Originals (fantasy drama)
Game of thrones (fantasy drama)

Designated survivor (Political drama)

The haunting of hill house (horror)

Ask in Telly Addicts.

Advanced search Netflix in the thread title.

This has been done over and over again.

I would recommend Ozark and Better Call Saul.

BlueDay22 · 01/02/2021 18:48

RozHuntleysStump · 01/02/2021 18:57

90 day fiancé. There’s about 100 seasons and spin offs. It’s kept me occupied for over two weeks so far.

SylvanianFrenemies · 01/02/2021 18:59

Outlander, Downton Abbey (not the film, it is crap), The Man in the High Castle.

LadyMayoGoodway · 01/02/2021 19:04

Haha @SylvanianFrenemies we’ve been watching Downton from series one since Xmas. Ultimate comfort blanket!

Nodancingshoes · 01/02/2021 19:14

Just finished Animal Kingdom which me and DH both loved
Queens Gambit - binged this in 3 days, loved it
The Serpent - Gripping, couldn't stop watching
Sex Education - v, v funny
Schitts Creek for some light relief

Sunnydays999 · 01/02/2021 19:30

I love the crown and homeland - and recommendations?

Spudina · 01/02/2021 19:34

Lucifer.
This is us
Bridgerton
Virgin River

OrangeBananaFish · 01/02/2021 19:37

I have recently binged This is Us, Gilmore Girls, Virgin River, Emily in Paris and just started Superstore. I tried Schitts Creek, but just couldn't get into it. I keep thinking I should try another 3 episodes (I've only seen the first 3 and have been told to keep going a bit longer, but I have better things to do TBH)

I did enjoy Good Girls and Orange is the New Black too.

Lovely1a2b3c · 01/02/2021 19:42

Another vote for 'This is us' (interpersonal drama but really interesting) but if you prefer murder mysteries then 'Pembrokeshire murders' and 'Prodigal Son' were both really good.

Lovely1a2b3c · 01/02/2021 19:43

Oh also 'Upload' is really good and a bit unusual.

Lovely1a2b3c · 01/02/2021 19:46

Oh that's exciting I didn't know it was already being shown in the USA- Zoey's extraordinary playlist is brilliant.
