And want to move away? We moved from London to Bucks a few years ago. I’d grown up here and regret moving back. Nothing has changed & it will never feel like somewhere I want to be. OH on the other hand loves it. Anyone in the same boat?

I’ve been to Lyme Regis and Bridport. Both very pleasant places . Bridport is a big retiree destination but there is a lot going on. Some of the villages nearby are lovely. Lyme Regis was where the French Lieutenants Woman was filmed. Very pretty and haven’t heard anything bad about it.
Portland also has a big prison.

Wareham I don’t know. I’ve been to Weymouth once and it seemed like a nice seaside town.

Yes, I’m afraid so. We moved 4 years ago to a more spacious house and garden, but I hate it. The road is a rat run and I’ve never liked living here. I’ve really tried - I’ve been to hypnosis to try and like it, but just can’t get used to the constant traffic. Husband doesn’t want to move, so I’m not sure when or even if this will ever happen. I feel guilty for feeling this way - it’s a nice house - just wrong area . Am also feeling like I’m wasting my life feeling miserable here. It’s been nearly half a decade!

I feel the same, also right on a flight path so plane noise all the time, hate it! Really resent moving, DH was desperate to for a bigger house with more outdoor space, from a detached in a quiet cul de sac.

I moved out of Edinburgh this year after ten years of feeling pretty much like you do! I found it a beautiful city with loads of lovely places to walk - and you do have the mountain in the middle. But it's so hard to make friends and I also found the politics quite worrying. I'd love to live in a little town by the sea, with a nice community. If you come up with any ideas, let me know!

That’s what I’m looking for! A little town by the sea with a great community. Add in lovely countryside and some good pubs for eating out. I’ll be happy as Larry.

Sorry to hear this. What are the politics in Edinburgh?

TheElvishQueen · 28/07/2025 18:39

SNP, anti women, crap public services. Now Sturgeon has gone it’s a bit better. Constant banging on about independence has at least stopped.

Yes, I live in Luton and I fucking hate it. It's filthy, ugly and unfriendly.

Moving soon, hopefully.

I've lived in this back end of nowhere town. The estate is nice but the neighbours not so much. Selfish beyond anything. Party going on next door just as well i have no house viewings to move out of here.

I hate my area, it’s become so different, manically busy, tower blocks going up everywhere, xl bullies all over, inconsiderate neighbours. I can’t wait to leave. The plan is to move rurally next year.
