I know I’m being unreasonable but I’m so fucked off.

I’m 6 months pregnant and have been ill and just wanted a little time to myself after Christmas and now the fucking nursery is shut.

I know so many people are worse off but I was so looking forward to a week for me.

Fuck fuck fuck it all.

Sending you a Brew and Cake and just for good measure Flowers

I'm not in same situation as you, but have 5 DC aged under 11 years, three of whom are under the age of 3. I am on an emotional knife edge thinking about what I will be like if schools don't go back here after the Christmas holidays. Reading so many rumours online and I am getting gittery! Love my kids dearly, of course!!

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 20/12/2020 17:53

You're not at all unreasonable. When my DD was small and I was 6 months pregnant and had a bad UTI, I nearly cried with relief when she started preschool. You're ill and exhausted and now any chance of rest has been denied. You're not claiming your suffering is all that matters, whoever thinks you're unreasonable to be disappointed can sod off.

Aahotep · 20/12/2020 17:58

Pregnant women are never unreasonable imho.

Aquamarine1029 · 20/12/2020 18:03

Go right ahead and be unreasonable, I don't blame you at all. I have thought many, many times how grateful I am that my children are adults and not little during all this bullshit.

Sexnotgender · 20/12/2020 18:04

Thank you Flowers I love my little boy dearly but he’s nearly 2 and constantly on the go. I turned my back for 2 seconds to put shopping in the fridge this morning and he was in the dishwasher 😂

Temporary nanny/ childminder You deserve it!
Sexnotgender · 20/12/2020 18:05

And so I go back to work on the 4th of January and nursery is shut until “at least” the 18th. So another few weeks of trying to look after him and do my job. Good times😔

Do you mind if I ask why it’s shut?
Just shitting myself that my child’s will shut too.

Oh and YANBU.

We’re in Scotland. Tier 4 restrictions from 26/12-18/01 so no childcare unless you’re both key workers.

People who are 6 months pregnant can be as unreasonable as they want. Not sure on the rules in Scotland, but is forming a childcare bubble an option? (If you have anyone who would help out)

AntiHop · 20/12/2020 18:20

Really sucks :(

mynameiscalypso · 20/12/2020 18:22

You are absolutely not unreasonable. I'm not even pregnant and our nursery is only closed until the 11th but I'm still absolutely dreading it. Love DS but the idea of three weeks of constantly entertaining him without a break is exhausting.

ImPrincessAurora · 20/12/2020 18:22

Oh Christ. So sorry. I’m tier 4 also but in England so I’m dropping off tomorrow and leaving them their regardless....

ImPrincessAurora · 20/12/2020 18:23
  • there
polkadotpjs · 20/12/2020 18:25

You are most definitely not being U. My kids are home while I'm working next week and I'm already dreading it.

It’d be fine in normal times. Soft play, cafes, toddler groups, friends etc. But this is fucking torturous!

There’s only so many times I can go to the park. Even the dogs are like not a-bloody-gain!

It’s a shit time of year anyway. The weather is rubbish.

I just want a moan really 😂

Scotland's fucking joke right now.

Scotland's fucking joke right now.
You’re not wrong.

How are people meant to work with no childcare? I’ve got pretty much no annual leave left as I’ve had to use it through the year for childcare!

I was just so looking forward to my week off.

I wasn’t even doing anything exciting, planned to clean out the hall cupboard and do some baking etc. I’m wild😂 but it was my time. It’s a rare commodity.

ForestNymph · 20/12/2020 18:38

Not unreasonable. I'm fucking fuming about it all, just want an end to this hell. 3 dc under 5, one with special needs, is it too much to ask for some soft play areas to open

Notsofast1 · 20/12/2020 18:39

Oh god I feel your pain. I'm 8 months pregnant. Booked for a c section in 3 weeks time! Weekends with my 2 year old are currently killing me slowly. I am shattered, have had nausea on and off for the last 8 months. If they told me the nursery had to shut I think I'd actually have a break down! I'm going to work tomorrow for a rest but I am exhausted by the end of the day and my hubby doesnt get in u till 9. Hes amazing and helps loads but wow it's tough the second time round with a toddler. Big hugs for you OP, have you got anyone nearby who can have him for a couple of hours (on the quiet?) I'll probably get slated for that last sentence but sometimes mental health needs to come first!

Sexnotgender · 20/12/2020 18:42

My parents aren’t super far away but need to see whether it’s possible for them to have him under the rules. My husbands job means we really have to be seen to be following the rules.

OP posts:
NeverEnoughTea · 20/12/2020 18:45

You are definitely not being unreasonable. I’m in the same boat except not pregnant (so you are MORE than entitled to moan if I am). I’m just so deflated. I only had a couple of days to myself in the coming week and was looking forward to them like I used to look forward to a two week all inclusive holiday pre-kids. Now nursery is shut, weather is shit, Christmas is cancelled and there’s nowhere to go. DH working throughout. It’s shit shit shit so please go ahead and moan. At least it helps us all feel a bit less alone...

bananaskinsnomnom · 20/12/2020 18:48

Oh god, I didn’t realise Scotland had scrapped the childcare!

Lots of tea and Christmas chocolate for you. Scrap any screen time limit too! YANBU!

Are you allowed to use a temp nanny in your situation? Even a younger student or anyone you know just to give you some pause? Though I realise that’s probably banned as well......

I didn’t realise either until the nursery emailed this afternoon to give us the joyful news.
