Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Fangtiger · 18/12/2020 11:10

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.

@ProbablyFault

I just bought pants from John Lewis, and they have a seam up the back 😱. Grr.
Wow. That's awful- is there no end to their cost cutting?
Belepheron · 19/12/2020 21:43

Bloody hell. Am I the only person who sleeps naked?

NuniaBeeswax · 19/12/2020 21:47

"They may well have multiple pairs. Am sure they do. Would have to. There are 5 people in our house. I'm not washing 35 pairs of pyjamas a week. We have enough laundry as it is."

And? Your experience is not universal. I live alone. I could wear a fresh pair of pyjamas every night for a week before I'd have to think about washing them.

problembottom · 19/12/2020 21:52

Well this thread is eye opening. Firstly that people wear their knickers under PJs - I bloody love getting my knickers off at the end of the day! And secondly that people wash their PJs after every wear.

I’m clearly scuzzy AF. Grin

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 19/12/2020 21:55

I sew and l can't think of a way that pjs would not have a centre back seam. 🤔

But well if the seam is up your bum then utterly gross.

Chinainmyhandsoitis · 19/12/2020 21:58

What, people don't wear pants with pyjamas? Even in the evenings before bed, mornings mooching around? I think if you are wearing them without pants you should wash them after each wear because yuck.

RingPiece · 19/12/2020 22:09

Never wear pants with PJs. Only wear PJs in the winter anyway, and they're baggy. I don't wash them everyday. I don't like wearing pants all the time, and, yes when younger I was told of the importance of letting everything breathe!

In summer, I don't usually wear pants if I'm wearing a long dress/ skirt.

Emeraldshamrock · 19/12/2020 22:59

You wouldn't put used underwear back on pyjamas without pants might as well be your night knickers.
I stick a wash on every day jammie bottoms don't take up a lot of space in the machine.

Paddingtonthebear · 19/12/2020 23:08

I only put pyjama bottoms on when I’m going to bed at night. I wouldn’t wear them to sit in the lounge in the evening, or as day wear, but I have discovered that this is actually quite unusual

I only wear them in pants when I'm wearing them outside of bed.

Sat crying at “she was from a fanny breather family” 😂😂😂😂😂

Dastardlythefriendlymutt · 20/12/2020 01:20

This thread has really given my lungs a work out. I cannot stop laughing🤣🤣🤣. I wear nighties so no seams up my crack and struggle to sleep in pyjamas. I only have them to wear after my evening shower before bed.

I also am constantly wearing knickers. I used to sleep naked to let everything "breatne", but not since I had kids as I somehow feel better with everything hidden from possible light🤣🤣🤣 in case somehow has a heart attack finding me naked 😂😂😂. I also only change my bedding weekly.

Uh oh, I'm a slovenly slut. Change bedding every 2 weeks or so Blush Change sleep shorts every 3 or so days. I make my own, from cotton jersey so they don't ride up my arse . . . Grin

StarlightLady · 20/12/2020 02:11

I don’t own any PJ; with the exception of during heavy periods, l’ve slept naked since l was about 14; in my 40s now.

I don’t usually wear knickers with a long dress or a skirt in the warmer weather, l certainly wouldn’t like to regularly sleep in them.

Wheresmykimchi · 20/12/2020 03:04

I can't cope with these people not wearing pants with skirts or dresses !

StarlightLady · 20/12/2020 03:26

Unless l Go down the high street doing cartwheels, l really don’t don’t get how not wearing anything under a long summer dress or skirt (it’s a summer sport!) and enjoying an air conditioned under carriage can cause someone else not to cope.
@waterlego I often take off my bra and pants when I get home! And for the last 9 months I have been at home all the time...so...
Yup. I've given up underwear for 2020 Grin

beautifulmonument · 20/12/2020 06:45

If you sleep naked what do you do if your kids need you in the night? Or if there was an emergency, have you got something to hand to put on?

Thinking about it I suppose if I had a zip up dressing gown or a nightie I could throw on quickly it would be ok... I live in a hot country so it would be good to be able to sleep naked but I can't get my head round it 😝

FFS, as well as sleeping in knickers, are you also saying that your kids don't see you naked?!!! It's like Victorian England on here. Mind blown.

violetbunny · 20/12/2020 07:15

My ex was German and he had a wonderful German word for this: "arschfrissthose".

English translation: "Ass eats pants" 😂😂

snookercue · 20/12/2020 08:08

This is getting ridiculous now. Of course if there is an emergency you would put something on. As for the kids? Depending on what they needed and the temperature in the house I would either simply tend to them or put something on and tend to them. None of these are difficult. Complete and utter non issues.

You have been coping. People do this every day. You don't even know it's happening Grin

Normal dressing gown. Doesn’t need to be zip, in fact that would slow you down?

I leave my dressing gown either on the end of the bed, on the floor by the bed, or hung on the headboard. Can reach it and put it on as I’m getting out of bed. No big deal.
