Pajama bottoms with backside seams are unhygenic

Am I the only person who has a problem with the backside seam on pajama bottoms? The seam goes up my bum so I end up wearing night time knickers underneath to stop that happening and to stop having to wash my pjs every day. Do pj bottoms without a backside seam exist? Someone told me M&S had some, but can't find them.
@Bluntness100 of course it does. Your thigh isn't prone to bacterial infection if it is constantly suffocated , is it Confused
Wearing a pair of cotton knickers isn't 'suffocating' your fanny though, is it?

The most usual reason for bacterial infections of the vagina is e coli from poo, often due to poor bum wiping habits. Wearing knickers as you sleep isn't going to make much of a difference.

LurkingLotus · 19/12/2020 13:10

I wondered what that loud 'gasp' was whenever I took my knickers off.....it must be my vagina taking a huge gulping breath of air after being suffocated all day.

You can make PJs or legging or joggers in two pieces, front & back rather than the standard 4 pieces. The don't fit as well and can give more of a low crotch thing. You might find it more on baby clothing.

These are two piece but are babies 👶🏻 so no crotch /bum seam

Hygiene and breathing fannies aside, women don’t all have identical exterior anatomy. Some of us don’t find pants all that comfortable- a bit restrictive, like wearing a bra. In fact, like that trope of a woman getting home and taking her bra off, I tend to take my bra and pants off when I get home. Just wanna set everything free after it’s been scrunched up in clothes all day 🙂

waterlego · 19/12/2020 13:18

So to add- perhaps wearing pants 24/7 is more comfortable for those who are neater of vulva.

theDudesmummy · 19/12/2020 13:21

@LastChristmas20 that is so sweet! My DH would think I was trying to tell him something (not something good) if I wore pants/pj's in bed!

theDudesmummy · 19/12/2020 13:24

@waterlego I often take off my bra and pants when I get home! And for the last 9 months I have been at home all the time...so...

waterlego · 19/12/2020 13:26

TheDude Me too! Basically rarely wearing underwear at all these days 😂

CorianderQueen · 19/12/2020 13:27

Tbh I still find it weird that people wear PJs to bed. Like clothing... to sleep in. Weird.

midnightstar66 · 19/12/2020 13:29

@waterlego I'd imagine that's why underwear is made on a large rents of styles and sizes. There's bound to be some out there for every vulva otherwise are people walking around restricted and uncomfortable all day? Might be worth trying some others if that's the case 😆

This thread is brilliant

waterlego · 19/12/2020 13:35

midnight, yes, I do have plenty of loose cotton pants which are the most comfortable for me personally, but I wear Lycra leggings at work so only tiny pants/thongs will do really. I wear the bigger cotton pairs at home or when I’m walking the dog etc, but I still prefer not to wear them at night!

Wheresmykimchi · 19/12/2020 13:36

@IcedPurple

This thread has opened my eyes as I honestly believed it was just fact.
But we were always brought up that you shouldn't wear pants 24/7 for that reason.

FraggleShingleBellRock · 19/12/2020 13:37

Two gynaecologists have told me that your Fanny needs to breathe and you should not wear under wear in bed at all. My best friend was told the same by a different gynae when she was assessed for PCOS and endo. She freaked out as she has always slept in under wear and now wears loose shorts instead. My growler refuses to be contained at night, knickers are the enemy and he prefers the open air 😂

To me that sounds kind of like the old nonsense about how you shouldn't wear make-up since it stops your skin from 'breathing'. As though your skin had lungs.

A pair of knickers isn't going to stop your fanny from 'breathing'. If you find them uncomfortable, obviously don't wear them, but it won't do you any harm if you do.

Silvergreen · 19/12/2020 13:55

😂 great thread - well done everyone

Fizbosshoes · 19/12/2020 13:56

I'm another that always wears knickers with pjs .... I didn't even realise other people didn'tHaving said that, I can't sleep in pj bottoms so I usually sleep in just the top and knickers and the bottoms are for lounging about in before bed

Same here. My DH is always telling me I need to ditch my knickers and "let the air get to it" Hmm

RichardMarxisinnocent · 19/12/2020 14:12

@FOTTFSOFTFOASM

Most nights I'm wearing the same pair of knickers day and night

That is really quite horrid.

Thank you ever so much for the judgement. Could you explain why you you find it quite so horrid? I've done the same since I was a child, had cystitis twice in my life, about 30 years ago, and thrush once (as a result of becoming sexually active). If hasn't done me any harm, my knickers go straight in the washing basket after I take them off in morning, so they aren't doing anyone else any harm either.
FrankskinnerscRoc · 19/12/2020 14:16

If you cut a small hole this will allow your A hole to breath out rather than in.

FOTTFSOFTFOASM · 19/12/2020 14:17

Oh, I don't know. I just can't begin to imagine wearing the same knickers for 24 hours solid. I'm very much of a 'let the fanny breathe' persuasion - but if I were forced at gunpoint to wear knickers overnight, they would be clean ones which would be changed again in the morning. By the same token, I wouldn't sleep in the same shirt that I had been wearing all day.

FrankskinnerscRoc · 19/12/2020 14:18

Actually make that 2 holes.

Ingvermama · 19/12/2020 14:23

Oh my! I wear a pair of pyjamas for over a week. I shower just before bed though, and I never go without knickers except in the shower! I feel like they keep me all together 😂
