I was looking for that food thread where people recommended their favourite yummy foods and so much of it came from Aldi. I couldn't find that list.

So I'd like to be quite cheeky and as you to relist the Aldi products in this thread so I can then walk around Aldi with my phone in my hand and move that list from my phone to my trolley Grin

Thank you muchly!

Orange juice in thechill section, the one that looks likeTropicana.
Sourdough baguettes, pack of 2 for about 95p
The frozen lamb shanks aren't bad, about £5 for 2.
Plum crumble tart in the freezer section, they used to do a really big one but now it's just the normal size, served just warm, not hot, with good vanilla ice-cream.
Packs of parsely and garlic bruschetta when they have them.
The blackcurrant jam, black label, is great, not too sweet

Love Aldi products. Some of our favourites are
Cheese and onion quiche
Hummus
Reduced salt and sugar ketchup
Southern fried fish burgers (orange packet)-in a brioche bun with burger cheese and tartrate sauce they are a fakeaway McD filet o'fish
Yogurt covered rice cakes
Oaties, plain and choc
Crinkle cut sharing bags of crisps-too good to share
Orange juice in fridge as mentioned above, in Tropicana style packaging
Choc chip brioche rolls
Pain au chocolate
Peppermint and liquorice herbal tea- most flavoursome herbal tea I have ever had and the tea bags feel very upmarket
Nappies and wipes
They sometimes have good kids clothes, 100% organic cotton. Tights and socks are very long lasting

Will try the skin on fries. Normally go for the garlic and onion wedges

@Papergirl1968

I can recommend their posh crisps. And haven’t tried this chocolate and caramel cottage but I’d like to!
That's an advert for Lidl?
Katyy · 11/12/2020 06:47

All the diffusers are lovely. And their chocolate with strawberry yogurt filling.

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 11/12/2020 06:52

Ballycastle Country Cream (similar to Baileys).
Duck & Pancakes
Ready made sweet pancakes.
Black Pepper Crackers and their green herb cheese roule.

thefishthatcouldwish · 11/12/2020 07:26

At the moment the scallops in champagne in the chiller section are delicious

Papergirl1968 · 11/12/2020 11:09

Sorry BigRedBoat, I hadn’t realised that! Off to Lidl I go then to check out that particular delight! Grin

FlyingLoo · 11/12/2020 12:01

The multipack of pain au chocolate (8 in pack I think) and sour cream lentil curls sooo good

ButterflyOfFreedom · 11/12/2020 12:12

Crisps - any of them but esp mature cheese & onion and the special edition pig in blankets ones

Greek yoghurt

Salted Caramel Brownies (from the bakery not fridge but I will definitely be looking out for the fridge one now)

Mediterranean chicken fillets

The little garlic bread pizza that is like the Domino’s one

peachescariad · 11/12/2020 14:18

Mango & passionfruit gin
Seadog spiced rum
Sliced bloomer loaves (rubbish bags though, always split)
Barista coffee (in a tin, orange lid)
Baking camembert
Buttermilk frozen chicken thighs
All their steaks

Whatup · 11/12/2020 14:51

French grain vodka and apple strudel.

WunWun · 11/12/2020 14:53

YABU to say 'yummy' if you're a grown adult.

Tinselerama21 · 11/12/2020 15:08

I don’t shop there that much - I’d like to but just don’t have the time to shop on foot with toddlers and work.

However when I have I’ve found their cold meats, cheese straws (on a par with Waitrose and far better than Morries, Marks or Sainos), and mince pies to be amazing, they do some excellent Christmas special lines too, my DH also really rates the Banks real ale they sell for £1 a bottle.

Oh and their Lindt style dark chocolate in the different flavours is really nice.

Tinselerama21 · 11/12/2020 15:11

Oh yes some one has mentioned ice cream all their ice creams and sorbets are 👌🏻, on a par with premium brands but obvs loads cheaper.

Siw2020 · 11/12/2020 18:20

getting lots of inspiration...
is aldi better than lidl for christmas food?

Hippee · 11/12/2020 18:51

Siw2020 - I would have said that Lidl was better for Christmas food, but that is only because, in the past, they have had my favourite (non-chocolate covered) Lebkuchen - but I don't get to go there often, so I am not sure whether that is still the case. I wouldn't kick either of them out of bed for leaving crumbs.

olivesnutsandcheese · 11/12/2020 18:57

Organic prosecco
Lightly smoked salmon fillets
Skin on frozen chips
Ham off cuts
Large free range eggs

Womencanlift · 11/12/2020 19:09

I went down to Aldi this afternoon after being inspired my this thread.

Now need to add Chocolate Orange Brownie Bombs (from the Christmas aisle) to this list! Amazing - even though the tub is only half full when you open it Smile

Pleasegodgotosleep · 11/12/2020 19:15

Everything! Never had a bad meal from aldi ingredients. Also great for us as dd2 has multiple food allergies (though not gluten) and I can get many things for her as part of "normal" aldi brands without having to pay expensive "free from" prices Smile

Anthilda · 11/12/2020 19:23

Ballycastle (baileys rip off) lovely.

Crinkle cut beef and horseradish crisps- Devine

Dip selection with salsa, sour cream etc- lovely

Shortbread (one of the best I've tried)

Ready to cook roast chicken with stuffing (best helping of stuffing compared to other stores. We make chicken and stuffing dips with this or I cook it for sunday lunch)

Amaretto
Sweet chilli chicken frozen pizza in the green box
Snackrite crisps
Norpak (lurpak rip off)
Smooth orange juice (tastes same as innocent)
Fruit chews sweets
Face wash in green bottle- no sting and removes eye make up really well
Handwashing
Lemonade
Barley juice /cordial
Caramel slices
Almond crumble cakes
Brioche buns
Chocolate filled waffles
Wine

CaveMum · 11/12/2020 19:34
  • Chocolate Lebkuchen Hearts (honestly buy several packets as you will eat them all in one sitting)
  • Moser Roth chocolate
  • Their fake “Magnum” ice creams
  • Sirloin Steak (fresh meat)
  • Greek Style Yoghurt
  • Their “Hoop” crisps are absolutely identical to Hula Hoops (think they’re even made in the sane factory) and a fraction of the price.
  • Any of their Specially Selected big bags of crisps - mature cheddar and red onion and the crinkle cut Steak flavours are a fav in our house.
CaveMum · 11/12/2020 19:37

They also do fake Pringles, called “Stackers”. They’re not 100% the same but at 75p for a slightly smaller tub v £2.50 a tub of the genuine article I’ll take them any day!

Freeekedout · 11/12/2020 20:11

Their wine is great and very reasonable. Order online and get free delivery. Highly recommend.

ElvisPresleysSideburns · 11/12/2020 20:45

These biscuits www.aldi.co.uk/all-butter-salted-caramel-cookies/p/062697258696401are soooo good. The white chocolate and quadruple chocolate ones also.
