I was looking for that food thread where people recommended their favourite yummy foods and so much of it came from Aldi. I couldn't find that list.

So I'd like to be quite cheeky and as you to relist the Aldi products in this thread so I can then walk around Aldi with my phone in my hand and move that list from my phone to my trolley Grin

Thank you muchly!

How bizarre, our Aldi’s where we are (abroad) are rubbish, just loads of random crap piled up. The above lists sound amazing

Madcats · 10/12/2020 20:48

We don't have an Aldi within a 30 minute drive, but I thought I'd pop in to mention the stores "near" us are doing Click and Collect for £4.99. We invariably make a trip to do a Christmas shop, but haven't yet.

The wine is invariably great. They went through a phase of buying up ££ winery excess stock over the summer and we ended some ridiculously cheap fab bottles. (If you buy a case online delivery is probably always free).

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 10/12/2020 20:50

Most of the specially selected stuff is decent and better than the equivalent in other supermarkets.

Manchego and aged parmesan is amazing
Rosemary crackers and black pepper crackers are really buttery
Most of the booze is great and mega cheap
Stone baked pizzas are all excellent, I like the bbq beef one. I served them at a party once and everyone was like 'these are amazing, where are they from!?'
Coconut milk is cheap and nice and creamy
The berry and the nutty granola
Brandy cream is the best thing ever I've literally eaten a whole tub by itself before
Chipotle chilli jam
Not sure if they do it any more but truffle salami is very good
The white chocolate and oat cookies

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 10/12/2020 20:51

Oh the gin (I think) mince tarts

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/12/2020 20:53

All their specially selected cheeses are amazing - the red fox Red Leicester is superb.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 10/12/2020 20:53

I took the recommendation of the Toro Locco red wine from the other thread and it's fab.

IMO the Oaties biscuits are better than hobnobs and can demolish a packet at an alarming speed.

Squaddielife · 10/12/2020 20:57

And haven’t tried this chocolate and caramel cottage but I’d like to!

Oaties - Aldi chocolate hobnobs. Pandemic game changer.
Grandeur marmite. It's better than Marmite. Sorry Marmite. sobbing
Scrumpy cider in cans. Pretty decent.
Pot of growing basil. My DD loves it as an air freshener in the kitchen.

mynameiscalypso · 10/12/2020 21:46

@Papergirl1968

I saw an advert for a chocolate and praline bomb which looks amazing and basically like a giant cake/mousse version of a Ferrero Roche. I haven't seen it in our store yet but it's quite small so I'm just hoping they do stock it otherwise I will probably cry.
maybemu · 10/12/2020 21:57

I'm reading through the list now and remembering more things I love. Basically anything you would buy in another shop give it a go and I'm sure you will like the aldi version

DahliaMacNamara · 10/12/2020 22:02

I just opened a box of their little Christmas dessert chocolate ganache snowflakes from the chilled section, and oh my lord.

HoboSexualOnslow · 10/12/2020 22:12

Their rapeseed oil is lovely, comes in a nice glass bottle and is super cheap

CoffeeandCroissant · 10/12/2020 22:24

Our store (Scotland) has had the bombe for a few weeks now, haven't tried it yet though.

Skin on fries are good.
The (frozen) soy and chilli Calamari is good too but very greasy/oily!

Sarjest · 10/12/2020 22:24

Where do I start?

Chilli peanuts
100% peanut butter
Chocolate filled waffles
Salty butter
Manchego
Fake biscotti spread
All the stuff in the Christmas aisle (I’ve resisted up until now but I need to stock up before they run out
Jalapeño crisps
Creamy fish pie
Mmmm....

CoffeeandCroissant · 10/12/2020 22:29

Also the 99p chilled ganache deserts in a wee glass ramekin:
groceries.aldi.co.uk/en-GB/p-specially-selected-sea-salted-chocolate-caramel-ganache-90g/4088600322131

Most of the cheese is decent too, got the soft French goats cheese this week and enjoyed that on the sea salted crackers. They have a few British cheeses this week that they don't normally have (weekly special?) that look interesting...
