To ask “what is the conspiracy?”

I have seen many times on social media, over the past week, people saying there is something else going on and the Covid rules are for a different reason entirely.
I just wondered if anyone truly believes the government have a different agenda for extending lockdown??

Also your “quarantine isolation camps”... it’s a hotel room in the fucking Hyatt Hmm doesn’t quite have the same ring to it on the conspiracy theory “research” forums though, does it?

There's information out there about camps being built in both Canada and New Zealand, it got discussed in I think it was the Canadian parliament recently. Again, hopefully this is false and all a mistake and nothing to worry about. People here seem to struggle with calmly discussing this without calling me 'batshit crazy' and other insults so it's getting a bit pointless.

Maybe I'll leave it at:

Yes of course I think your governments care about you and all of these measures are about safety.

I'm not sure why people care so much about what I think, I'm just another human sharing my opinion, very happy to be proven wrong, and never stating that I know the absolute truth on any of these matters.

Anordinarymum · 29/11/2020 03:29

Have you tried googling the origin of Coronavirus?

Since nobody really knows and everyone has an opinion is it any wonder there are conspiracies ?

Throw Boris Johnson into the mix and there you are - a quagmire of half truths, lies, and made up nonsense with the odd person talking sense but not being taken notice of as it is not interesting enough.

Mally2020 · 29/11/2020 03:31

@anordinarymum sick of people trying to explain coronavirus to people who already work in the industry, do you believe all of the bullshit you read on the Internet?

Userzzz · 29/11/2020 03:33

I don’t think this is about a virus. This is about control and the government is deliberately crashing the economy. We are headed towards a new way of life and we are never getting our rights back.

Justhereforthepopcorn · 29/11/2020 03:42

But you said people were being removed from their homes in NZ and taken to these quarantine isolation camps. Now you’re saying the camps haven’t actually been built yet. Only discussed... in Canada.

Just pointing out one small section of your “research” that is completely misinformed and incorrect. Maybe it’ll be a gateway into challenging your thinking that if the info you’re getting about this is wrong then what else are they posting online that’s wrong too.

Sorry... the quote function isn’t working properly on my phone, so it might be difficult to see who I’m replying to.

No I do not :) I am not a conspiracy theorist but I understand why there are so many.

Onedropbeat · 29/11/2020 03:54

I would also like to add a supplementary question -

Why do the conspiracy theorists/ anti-vax crowd hate biden and love trump?

I’ve heard them say that they think Boden will cause ww3 and only trump can stop it

I have heard Biden has dementia and reads everything from autocue, but then again so did Ronald Reagan towards the end of his tenure :)
Mally2020 · 29/11/2020 04:03

@anordinarymum, but for you to simply state you 'understand' you are pandering to those who undermine the efforts of those who study, work and care towards a common goal. You are undermining all those with severe illnesses and disabilities who have died. The vaccine protects all of the vulnerable groups and allows a normal life to continue, I'm sorry but can the morons not see that life was not normal to begin with... Just lazy. We need change in order to minimise risk. I will agree that trump made a great TV personality but a terrible president, likewise for Johnson a great mayor of London but a terrible prime minister. All it takes is a basic Google search to understand the false articles from the factual but especially the over 50's don't seem to be able to comprehend that.

eaglejulesk · 29/11/2020 05:08

Well said @Justhereforthepopcorn. That particular poster needs to understand that just because they read it "somewhere" doesn't make it fact!

eaglejulesk · 29/11/2020 05:11

Do you not think it's at least slightly suspicious that all of the doctors and media outlets pushing for masks and vaccines are all on one person's payroll, whereas the doctors disagreeing with this are on a variety of different payrolls/self employed etc?

What, all the doctors and media outlets of the world who push masks and vaccines are all on one person's payroll??? Whose payroll?

Anordinarymum · 29/11/2020 05:15

Mally I did not ask the question. I merely answered why I think there are so many conspiracy theorists. Not just about Covid but about loads of subjects /events that are so bad people can't accept what happened such as 9/11 as an example.

I do understand why people don't believe - they don't want to because the truth is often far worse than the made up story.

I am not undermining anybody. I have a right to an opinion and that was what it was. An opinion

Furries · 29/11/2020 05:23

@SunflowerButterfly - purely because it’s a very quick way to sum up your thinking, rather than wasting time typing a response which would be completely wasted on you.

Gremlinsateit · 29/11/2020 05:31

None of Australia is currently in lockdown. We currently have 70ish active cases across the whole country. Almost all of these are people who have flown into the country with COVID (because our borders are not completely closed) and who are currently in quarantine in hotels.

Victoria has done an amazing job of containing COVID after a very bad couple of weeks and the rest of us are proud of them and grateful to them.

It’s hard to measure of course, and any suicide is a tragedy, but it appears there has not been a spike in suicides in either Victoria or NSW (the two most populous states and the strictest lockdowns) during the COVID period to date.

PP needs to find a new interest and stop scaring others. Quarantine camps being built in NZ ffs - one of the countries that has done the best in the world during this time, with massive popular support for an early lockdown and almost normal life since then. And yes, they too are letting people into the country on condition of a quarantine period.

marcopront · 29/11/2020 05:59

@SunflowerButterfly

Can you explain how the presidents of Tanzania and Belarus were both convinced by the people who are controlling this to say there is no Covid in their countries if it is all made up?

The reality is there is very little Covid in Tanzania, I have got this first hand from medical staff here.

Nomoreboobs · 29/11/2020 08:23

I think Nz and Australia are hopefully cases to show that things are heading in the right direction? If they’re not wearing masks anymore and have returned to almost normal life, even before the vaccine, surely that pours water on the control theory? Unless it’s only countries in Europe, Canada and America etc who are part of this plan?
What is the connection with Trump?

IWouldBeSuperb · 29/11/2020 08:40

@WotWouldCJDo

Does anyone think we could be at war somehow?

Possibly with credulity.

Grin
Reedwarbler · 29/11/2020 08:58

I think the only conspiracy is that the government has disappeared down a rabbit hole of it's own making, and now can't back out of it, so has to follow a message that may not be correct. They have continually massaged the figures in order to make things seem worse than they are (e.g. Whitty and Valance and their 4000 dead a day/week graph) and to frighten the public into submission. The coronavirus laws are frighteningly draconian, with the media not allowed to publish certain things (hence the BBC being very pro governement in their reporting, especially as they want their charter renewed). Protest aginst the coronavirus legistation is also against the law. The conspiracy is the removal, by stealth, of many of our rights that were enshrined in law.

goingtosnow · 29/11/2020 09:07

The great reset is not a conspiracy theory unfortunately. Yes, I'm sure there are plenty of people who actually don't think it's such a bad idea. But I think for others the freedom choice is being removed.
Apparently by 2030 we're due to not own anything but be happier Hmm

Roominmyhouse · 29/11/2020 09:18

I just can’t get over that people seriously think all the governments across the world, who rarely can agree on anything, came together and invented coronavirus to ‘control people’ and start a ‘great reset’. It’s actually laughable.

The internet has become such a dangerous place with so much misinformation and conspiracies which for some reason people believe. I agree with the previous poster who said about people saying anything in the mainstream media not being trust worthy sounding like those brain washed into the cult of trump.

Meanwhile in reality a pandemic has occurred. Some countries have handled it well and had low cases, some like ours haven’t. That doesn’t mean there is something behind it and there is more to it, what it means is that we keep voting useless idiots into power.

Madhairday · 29/11/2020 09:36

Completely agree, Roominmyhouse. I find it utterly baffling. There always seems to be a script too, involving how we who do not subscribe to these conspiracy theories do not think for ourselves, that we should just read outside MSM and then we'll all be informed and amazed at what we learn. It's very cult like. Most of us do, indeed, like to think for ourselves, and have read opposing views and examined these theories, then backed away slowly. There is a pandemic. People are dying. Governments are trying to control it. Some of them do it really badly because they are governments. The idea that a bunch of billionaires got together to make this all up to control the world in some way is just bafflingly bizarre.

Sunflower, tell you what, come and work on the covid wards in my local hospital where staff are suffering with PTSD because of what they're dealing with every day and there's no room for usual winter admissions, then tell me it's a crafty plot to control the masses. Hmm

hopeishere · 29/11/2020 09:38

With good funding, there is no need for the public to be locked up to 'protect the NHS.' I was in a hospital this week and it was virtually empty.

This is not true. Currently all the funding in the world would not have magically created the expert doctors and nurses that were needed to treat covid. The NHS in NI us on its knees. 5+ years to get a knee op. 3+ for a hysterectomy.
