Being called a fat bitch

By your husband

Aibu in thinking this is absolutely not normal and not something anyone should have to tolerate?

Do you really have to ask? Of course it isn't.

jessstan1 · 21/11/2020 14:50

That is an extremely rude and unkind thing for anyone to say, never mind a husband. I'm hoping he gives a grovelling apology and never says it again.

Onadifferentuniverse · 21/11/2020 14:51

He thinks it’s hilariois

You are 100% correct. Spouses who talk to their loved ones like that are commonly referred to as the ex quite quickly.

Being spoken to like that would have the same effect on me as having my reproductive organs stitched shut, tbh. Context is unimportant here.

If - I say if - he ever apologises or claims he didn't mean it or says you should be able to tell he wasn't serious or accuses you of over-reacting, you know your response: "If you don't mean it, don't say it. If you say it, expect to be believed."

People who love you don't speak to you with such disrespect and contempt. So sorry you had to hear that come out of his mouth.

Bluntness100 · 21/11/2020 14:57

Call him a fat bastard in response.

NewlyGranny · 21/11/2020 14:57

Hilarious? Why hasn't he got his own TV comedy series, then? I'm assuming he hasn't.

Sparklesocks · 21/11/2020 14:58

No it’s incredibly disrespectful and rude. I would struggle to be with someone who called me that, didn’t understand why it’s not acceptable and then found it funny.

Nottherealslimshady · 21/11/2020 14:58

It's horrible. Why would it be funny to be nasty to your wife.

LemonBar · 21/11/2020 14:58

Yes someone is really going to come on aibu and say it's totally fine what a lovely husband you have. Hmm

Butchyrestingface · 21/11/2020 14:59

No, it's horrible.

What's the context?

NewlyGranny · 21/11/2020 15:00

I wouldn't recommend engaging with him at all just yet, assuming he's just said it. Take yourself off for a quiet think about what this man is bringing to your life to increase the sum of your contentment and happiness. And give him time to think about what he's spoiled.

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 21/11/2020 15:00

Totally fine, I enjoy being verbally abused. Said no one ever.

VettiyaIruken · 21/11/2020 15:02

Of course it's not ok.
I'm sure he wouldn't find being called needle dick hilarious.

MrsHound · 21/11/2020 15:04

Stop using his name, start calling him needledick the bug fucker.

Onadifferentuniverse · 21/11/2020 15:16

I walked away instead of arguing and he shouted that I was a fat bitch and told me to go find some food.

OP posts:
Onadifferentuniverse · 21/11/2020 15:16

That was to @Butchyrestingface

OP posts:
N0tthe0nlyfruit · 21/11/2020 15:18

@Onadifferentuniverse that is abusive and despicable behaviour from your DH.

Pikachubaby · 21/11/2020 15:18

Not ok Sad

Oreservoir · 21/11/2020 15:20

I’m sorry you are married to someone so horrible.
Name calling is something that usually stops at primary school.
You deserve better and you know it.
Time to evaluate your relationship I think.

DrDavidBanner · 21/11/2020 15:20

So he was baiting you?

is this symptomatic of your relationship in general?

BonnieDundee · 21/11/2020 15:20

Hilarious? Jimmy Carr will be quaking in his boots I'm sure 🙄

Obnoxious twat 😡

oakleaffy · 21/11/2020 15:20

@Bluntness100

Call him a fat bastard in response.
A fat, rude, limp-dicked bastard.

Hilarious.

Not. He won't find it so funny, @Onadifferentuniverse

PeggyPorschen · 21/11/2020 15:22

Context is needed

It wouldn't be remotely acceptable for me, but when you read what some posters think it's normal with a partner, there's no hard rule.

Ultimately, if that upsets you, then it's not OK, but if you had for example told him you'd be cheating on him or something, I would cut him some slack!
Context...

To use the old MN cliche, I know how you can lose 14 stone instantly.

Divorce.
