Georgia. Only 665 votes between them Shock

chomalungma · 06/11/2020 08:02

From that article... to think there were 227 Republican challengers circling the room, then shouting, clapping and chanting stop the count, whilst forming a circle round the election workers is just awfu

I complain about our election system in the UK . The unfairness of constituencies. But I am so proud of how they are conducted.

This is unbelievable. The sheer intimidation. This is what you expect in a dictatorship.

If this was happening in other countries, we would be calling it out for what it is.

Roussette · 06/11/2020 08:11

Here's another source on it.
uk.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-detroit/fact-check-republican-and-democrat-challengers-were-present-inside-detroit-count-idUSKBN27L2DR

Agree chomalungma it is beyond comprehension for us. To have hundreds of challengers shouting, chanting and intimidating election counters is beyond the pale.

This is like being really overly invested in a tortoise race.

I think we're getting into dangerous territory now. The amount of misinformation out there is scary. I made the mistake of looking at Eric Trump's Twitter feed yesterday, terrifying. It's going to be very hard to put this genie back in the bottle. And now with Ted Cruz and Lindsay Graham joining in the madness it looks like more of the mainstream GOP might be deciding to go along with it... Scary times.

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 08:12

Once the mail-in ballots have been counted, the only remaining uncounted votes from the county will be military ballots, which are due at 5 p.m. ET Friday. Dozier said she was unaware of how many military ballots officials may receive.

Thats about Clayton county. So Georgia still has military ballots yet to account for on top of the 13000 ish left to count.

At last update, the state still had 14,097 votes left to count.

President Trump is currently leading Biden in the state by a mere 1,805 votes.

Here is the breakdown of outstanding ballots by county from the last update released at 10:35 p.m. ET:

Clayton County: 4,355 heavily blue
Cobb County: 700 blue
Floyd County: 444 heavily red
Forsyth County: 1,545 heavily trump - there were over 4000 of these votes but theyve counted a lot of them
Gwinnett County: 4,800 heavily blue
Laurens County: 1,797 red
Taylor County: 456 red

So theyve cleared some of the heaviest red votes... And theres still a lot of heavily blue left.

I can’t believe I’ve spent my week off work following the election and not catching up on sleep and life in general.

@Lweji
Waking up my first thought is "Habemus President"?
But we won't get white smoke for ages. confused

His speech was very "low energy" but I think I saw some smoke coming out of his ears

Trump lead in Georgia down to 600. Biden expected to overtake in the next couple of hours. This is like being really overly invested in a tortoise race.
Brilliant. Off for a mountain walk, hopefully a drier one than yesterday and that Biden will be POTUS by the time I get back.
anon444877 · 06/11/2020 08:18

We have to hope there is no more good news for trump, as I'd expect that to unleash another fit of inciting violence.

Well I'm glad I'd already swallowed my tea when I read that.
MoonJelly · 06/11/2020 08:18

There's a thing going round on Twitter where Trump supporters post messages in identical wording saying they're going to emigrate to another country with a proper democratic system because they're so disgusted. They have to put their country of choice in. The destination of choice for many is that well known sovereign state, Hawaii.

It tells you all you need to know about Trump supporters, really.

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2020 08:20

Morning, caught up with the overnight events from the previous thread, now ready for this one. Thanks for keep going

TheNorthWestPawsage · 06/11/2020 08:22

Someone on the previous thread described Trump as a “family destroyer” not a “martyr”. I couldn’t agree more. He is petty, vengeful and desperate so if he can’t “have” the country then he’s going to make sure nobody can.

O, America

Msloverlover · 06/11/2020 08:25

@RedToothBrush lead down to 600 votes in GA now.

After somebody mentioned it up thread, I just watched this edition.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/11/05/trump-speech-bash-phillip-bts-elexnight-vpx.cnn. Sobering stuff. Also makes me kind of relieved the house results are better for GOP.

3ormorecharacters · 06/11/2020 08:26

@MoonJelly I think that's a bot post. There's an anti Trump one too about loving Donald Trump's tears or something. You see them everywhere on Twitter at the moment - not sure what the idea is but imagine it's some kind of troll farm.

It's almost as of they aren't applying any thought to it at all; that even ignoring the "another country" thing.

And a race where one tortoise is obese, stuck on its back and flailing around?
lionheart · 06/11/2020 08:37

Judge Diamond is good. How else can you respond?

'There's a non-zero number of people in the room.'

TheNorthWestPawsage · 06/11/2020 08:41

He is a loser whether he likes it or not.

Trump has become only the 7th person to lose the popular vote 2+ times, joining: John Quincy Adams (1824 & 1828), Henry Clay (1824, 1832, 1844) Benjamin Harrison (1888 & 1892), William Jennings Bryan (1896, 1900, 1908), Thomas Dewey (1944 & 1948), & Adlai Stevenson (1952 & 1956)
