To feel sorry for Trump?

tartanti · 04/11/2020 21:27

I’ve name changed for this as I know I will get completely flamed. But AIBU to secretly feel a little bit sorry for Trump? He campaigned so hard for this election compared to Biden and seemed to put his absolute all into it.

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going. I would have had a nervous breakdown or worse by now if I was on the receiving end of that.

His kids clearly love him and they seem alright - perhaps he’s not so bad behind the scenes? I think losing this election will destroy him as a person and whilst I don’t agree with his political viewpoint, I can’t help but feel slightly sorry for the guy.

AIBU?

Is this a joke?

Not read the thread.

WTF is wrong with you OP?

The man is a psycho/sociopath. He doesn't absorb criticism in the way you think. He is a risk to all on the planet. Thank fuck it looks like he will be prosecuted and go to jail once he is deposed.

SkyMoo1 · 05/11/2020 12:26
Biscuit

My first one too.

I think one of the most depressing things about his four year reign and how well he did since in this election, despite being likely to lose, is how wilfully uninformed and even wilfully stupid so many people seem to be. As well as their ability to remain unperturbed by the fact the man is a racist who condones the actions of white supremacists. Shame on you op, seriously, fucking shame on you.

Chemenger · 05/11/2020 12:30

@tartanti

On the Hitler point, I simply don’t believe you can compare. Hitler’s actions killed 85 million people around the world!
Give him time...(let's hope the American voters don't)
tartanti · 05/11/2020 12:32

Oh fuck off, you’re babbling complete shit.

Ok, I refuse to engage any further when posters like this arrive, so I’m hiding the thread now. Thanks for the discussion all and have a nice day! Smile

Yes, you feel sorry for him OP. The rest of us who are of sound mind and not ridiculously thick will not.

Soundbyte · 05/11/2020 12:39

There are in excess of 15,000 children who have been ‘misplaced’ through the ICE facilities, foster system and hostels. They will never be found. Some will be dead, some trafficked, some in line for a lifetime of abuse. He will not acknowledge their existence, let alone their loss. Feel sorry for them.

This. 1000 times, this. I feel utterly sick to my stomach and such despair for those children. He has so little regard for human life and is capable of precisely zero compassion, I hope he rots 😡

But his comments about Muslim are inciting racial hatred, OP. He has been filmed saying Muslims want to turn everyone n the US Muslims.

Can’t you see this is how things like the Holocaust start?

Janegrey333 · 05/11/2020 12:56

My heart bleeds for the monster.

Tellmetruth4 · 05/11/2020 13:40

Hitler didn’t start from day one killing people. He wouldn’t have gained power on that platform. All dictators start off small then build up.

pizzamummy · 05/11/2020 13:59

I don't feel sorry for him, I feel sorry for the people who voted Biden and the rest of the world who didn't even vote would have to deal with this mess. You think Trump is bad, fast forward 4 years and you will wish you had Trump. Trump is bad but Biden is worse.

studychick81 · 05/11/2020 14:06

Pizzamummy- in what way? Genuinely I would like to know why Biden would be worse.

singeronthestage · 05/11/2020 14:07

Oh shut up. Shut the fuck up. Biscuit

There. My first biscuit.

OP, you could just report those comments, they will 100% be deleted by MNHQ. Instead you’re using this as an excuse to leave the thread just when the questions on racism are increasing.

Tellmetruth4 · 05/11/2020 15:28

What’s the betting pizzamummy is a QAnon follower who believes in the pizzagate conspiracy where Trump will save children from a Democrat and celebrity paedophile ring?

ZaraW · 05/11/2020 15:36

You sound like the Republican nutters on FB.

All of them are thick as mince.

How so? Like another poster I mean that genuinely as I've heard Trump supporters say this but never with any reason behind it.
Xiaoxiong · 05/11/2020 16:03

OP I know what you mean. I would just rephrase it as saying not that you feel sorry for him, but that Trump is pitiful, as in I pity him - in the "pride goeth before a fall" sense. It's the great crash and burn that you can't tear your eyes away from. I watched All the President's men the other night and felt pity for Richard Nixon when his resignation speech was played.

It's not that you think the person is good - it's just that you think "how would I feel if that happened to me" and you know you'd feel horrendous. Whether it's Trump or Nixon or any bad person feeling that way is kind of irrelevant - you're not thinking about their feelings at all. You're projecting your own feelings, which is different.

LioneIRichTea · 05/11/2020 16:14

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going.

Are you serious? He’s brought it on himself he probably doesn’t even register any of it. The man is a racist, a homophobe, hates women, gif knows what he got up to with Epstein I dread to think, he hates the poor, he openly mocks disabled people, he (very likely) colluded with Russia, he doesn’t have the Americans interests at heart (in fact it feels like he is actively going against them) he stirs hate and fuels conspiracy theories, he lies (knowingly) about COVID and everything else... I could go on. No I don’t feel sorry for him, I feel sorry for America and the people he’s hurt and hope America is shot of him because otherwise I worry he could drag us all into a conflict by 2024.

tartanti · 05/11/2020 16:25

Back on the thread now that the abusive comment has been deleted. Thanks to whoever reported it!

I watched All the President's men the other night and felt pity for Richard Nixon when his resignation speech was played.

I also felt sorry for Nixon!! Grin

Anyway, I'm now feeling anxious that Trump might just swing this election and steal a win after all. Although I do feel a bit sorry for him in the "pride goeth before a fall" sense, there's no way I actually want him to be POTUS for another four years.

OP posts:
Lovebuffy · 05/11/2020 16:29

@tartanti

More likely a lust for his power.

This made me laugh - I’m the least lusting after power sort of person you could possibly meet Grin

You even speak just like him- "I'm the least racist person in this room" etc

otherwise I worry he could drag us all into a conflict by 2024. Really? He doesn't believe in spending money on wars. Trump's appalling in many ways but he hasn't 'dragged us all into a conflict'.
