To feel sorry for Trump?

I’ve name changed for this as I know I will get completely flamed. But AIBU to secretly feel a little bit sorry for Trump? He campaigned so hard for this election compared to Biden and seemed to put his absolute all into it.

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going. I would have had a nervous breakdown or worse by now if I was on the receiving end of that.

His kids clearly love him and they seem alright - perhaps he’s not so bad behind the scenes? I think losing this election will destroy him as a person and whilst I don’t agree with his political viewpoint, I can’t help but feel slightly sorry for the guy.

AIBU?

@Dan1980

It wouldn't be too bad if people actually attacked Trump on valid issues but the main stream media brainwashing of the racism nonsense trotted out by so many just shows a lack of insight and intelligence... the latter trait quite common particularly online. A thread of comments talking about trampling over dead kids, "evil" for having an affair , calling Trump out for homophobic comments and then talking about Islamophobia which deals with a religion where homosexuality is illegal in muslim countries is too stupid to continue with.
As if conservatives give a shit about homosexuality. They’re the ones who complain when they see a gay couple on TV. Mansplaining twat.

@LordLancington

I don't like either choice, but I also can't help shake my head at all the people nowadays spouting socialist nonsense whilst comfortably enjoying the privileges our country experiences through the conquests of men like Trump in centuries past.
Trump dodged the draft because he had bone spurs and has a visible disgust for veterans. He’s not Churchill or Eisenhower.

FFS @tartanti

Yes you are being unreasonable and utterly ridiculous. HTH

isitsnowingyet · 05/11/2020 09:50

@CitizenClem

It is utterly baffling. Particularly with corona virus as it is in the USA.

Biscuit have my first ever.

In fact, BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit have all on them.

That man is a bastard and deserves no sympathy. He is probably going to steal it anyways. Total wanker who has no empathy or compassion for anyone.

Chocaholic9 · 05/11/2020 09:54

Is this post a joke?

ConfusedcomMum · 05/11/2020 09:54

Hell no, will be glad to see the back of this divisive, manipulative, dangerous sh*t stirrer.

Callipygion · 05/11/2020 09:56

I wonder if you are also one of those people who feel sorry for Boris and think he is doing a good job, or “doing his best”? 😳

WitchFindersAreEverywhere · 05/11/2020 09:56

You can take #be kind too far.

tartanti · 05/11/2020 09:56

I’ve just read this - I must say, it’s a very interesting article:

“Who is the private man behind the bombastic, egoistical public persona? Exactly the same, say those who know him. His rise from real estate to reality TV to presidential candidate is testament to the power of positive thinking”

You must have a similar genetic disposition - any attention is good publicity/amusement.

tartanti · 05/11/2020 09:59

I wonder if you are also one of those people who feel sorry for Boris

Actually I really do disagree with Boris’s politics, but I did feel sorry for him when he got stabbed in the back by Michael Gove during the Tory leadership contest.

I felt dreadfully sorry for Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher when they left office too! Blush

I’m a sucker for tears, so when May and Thatcher cried I couldn’t help but feel sorry for them.

He is a text book Grandiose Narcissist. THAT is how he keeps on going. Every bit of attention good OR bad feeds him.
You’ve been “hoovered” in by his Narcissistic ways. Your probably a very kind person by nature- Narcissists fave kind of person!

ClementineWoolysocks · 05/11/2020 10:08

How are you measuring alright? Do you mean decent, honest, hardworking people? Because you couldn't be more wrong about that. They're mini Donalds with the same complete lack of self-awareness, empathy and basic human decency.

BeenThereDone · 05/11/2020 10:09

Make no mistake his children do not love him... They fear him. They all work for him, none of them have an original thought or opinion because if they did? Daddy would cut them off without a backward glance, like his own father did.
He loves himself and cares not a jot about anyone.... I don't know if his supporters are brainwashed or what but its like nazism, people just believing whatever he says and whatever he does and he has said and done some spectacularly stupid things.... I just don't understand.

Actually I really do disagree with Boris’s politics, but I did feel sorry for him when he got stabbed in the back by Michael Gove during the Tory leadership contest.

The only time I've ever felt any sympathy for Boris, personally, was when he had COVID-19 and was in intensive care. But that was only because I was very ill myself at the time with the virus (not in hospital) and wouldn't have wished it on my worst enemy.

As for Trump, I'm afraid that my heart bleeds for him, not. Hmm

absolutely no idea how that bears any relations whatsoever to my comment there, Doobie (oh that maybe explains it)

Thelnebriati · 05/11/2020 10:14

Imvfho, his rise from real estate to reality TV to presidential candidate is testament to the power of Reddit.

user1471565182 · 05/11/2020 10:14

Are you talking to our friend Dan perhaps?

tartanti · 05/11/2020 10:16

@Mittens030869 oh yes, I also felt sorry for him when he had Covid. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy!

Testament to being left millions and millions of pounds by your father

tartanti · 05/11/2020 10:21

A previous poster mentioned that Trump had a tough childhood - clearly not materially but in other ways. I imagine his dad could have been quite a tough cookie?
